I had to use the Kevo fob for the first year due to the Android support issues (promised then later said it was not fully compatible so we had to wait for version 6 - Marshmellow).
In my 1st year I went through three fobs as they cannot take a direct fall. I kept the fob on my key chain/ring with my car keys. It did not take long to see a fall from 2-3 feet (just slipped out my hands) onto a hard surface and it stops working.
On one I have very limited success getting to work again by resetting the fob/lock but it would soon stop working.
If using the fob keep it in the pocket of a purse where you will not be removing it or maybe a kids backpack. As a male I did not have this option other than in a jacket pocket.
I also found the fob quite large compared to office fos I have used and as such would have expected a more reliable product. I have never had an issue with an office fob stop working.
Also I don't think there is battery in these, they are powered by the lock when it searches like all fobs.
Summary: The fob works good, just don't drop it. Love the Kevo lock though with a phone

I have to say I was very excited to install this product on my front door. I imagined that going from my car, which has hands free locks and ignition, right into my house without needing to reach for my keys would be great. And in concept it is. So now for the actual experience:
Installation was easy but time consuming because it still required a bit of trial and error. I think it would be a bit easier if the wires running from the lock to the unit were a bit longer, and the plugs designed a bit smarter for ease of installation. Once done, turning the unit on and calibrating my FOB was pretty easy. Note I decided to use the FOB primarily because Bluetooth drains my phone like crazy, and having the FOB on my key ring isn't a big deal.
The biggest issue I have with the lock is quite simply that the FOB & unit just don't work well. Maybe the wireless technology is outdated, or the CPU on the unit just isnt up to the task, but the lock/unlock process often fails inexplicably. I often have to re position myself multiple times, or even take the FOB out of my pocket just to get the lock to read it at all. When it DOES read it, it often takes a good 5 seconds or more of processing before the door will lock or unlock, which is just way too long.
What I don't get is that hands-free access isn't a new thing. When I touch the door handle of my car, the locks will lock or unlock IMMEDIATELY, and 100% of the time. I dont need to take my car's FOB out of my pocket, or wait for the car to figure out if it is the correct FOB. Why can't this lock just work like that????
I can also agree with the other user who said the FOB is just too cheaply built to last long. Mine failed after 2 weeks of use. I'm not sure if it just needs a new battery, but I'm afraid that it might really be done for. I didn't even drop it or treat it harshly, so Im confused as to why it failed so easily. It would be nice if there was a "premium" FOB available for us FOB only users, which would be built to more of a car FOB standard.
It's a shame because if these items were addressed this would be a 5 start product. Until fixed I simply cant recommend this to other people.

I have new hurricane resistant (Miami-Dade standards) door and both the fob and the iPhone ap have trouble communicating with the lock. I have to pull the fob out of my pocket and put it about 10 inches from the handle of the door for it to work. I suspect it is the strong, thick, fiber-glass door, but going forward, doors in coastal areas will have to be of this kind for insurance purposes. I still like the lock and will keep it.

The product works great and is easy to program with the security lock product. Well worth the cost for an extra FOD. Too bad this is an order only item. I was not able to get a military discount because it was an order only item in my area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by peter727moreno ease of use, great battery life, large fob.
I bought fobs in case I had guests who did not want to download the app, or have an iphone (there may be android access now though?). Overall the fob seems to be a bit more reliable than when using my iphone app to enter. It picks it up easier and faster. The battery life on it is great, 1 replacement in the past year.
The only thing I would change is the size of this fob. It seems pretty large and bulky to me. I would keep it on my keychain full time and skip the phone app, if it was a tiny little fob that wasn't clunking up my key ring. I'm hoping new designs come out, especially different colors for different looks etc.
I paid $25 for the fob, I think that's a very fair price for the item, it would have been a determining factor when buying the lock and I saw the fobs were $60, I would have skipped on the lock all together.
How about a new slim modern design???

The lock only comes with one key FOB. You will need to purchase another one for each member of the household or apartment. They are $25 a piece and I think you can use up to 10-12 key FOBs with one lock. Not much else to say, but that it works fine. I recommend the key FOB over the Bluetooth app running on an iPhone. How many people have smartphones? How many have iPhone smartphones? There are beta android apps, but I have no experience with them. If I every loose a key FOB, I can reset the lock and add the key FOBs that I want to work with the lock. It only takes a couple of minutes to reprogram the lock. When my daughter gets older and starts coming home on her own, I can hide the key FOB in her backpack and the lock will work with one touch. I don't have to worry about her loosing a key to the house.
