Customer Questions & Answers

can this pocket door lock be adjusted for 2.75 inch backstop as per instructions or is it just for 2 1/8 inch as description?

I am desperately seeking a pocket door latch to work with a 2 3/4 inch backset. The ultimate solution would be bronze rather than stainless, but anything would be better than what I have now (an empty hole). The link to the installation instructions seem to be for typical knob/lever hardware but does state it is adjustable. Your specifications show it is adjustable, however your product description seems to state the backset is 2 1/8 inch. Please clarify or tell me what I am misreading. Thanks

where is the key slot?

your picture doesn't show where key slot appears on the "lock" of the pocket door lock
Asked by: ruffer
Kwikset Model # 335 32 RND PCKT DR LCK is not a keyed entry lock. It is a bed/bath lock that has a manual turn piece to allow it to be locked. There is no key slot on this unit.

Round Stainless Steel Bed/Bath Pocket Door Lock is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weak design The internal guides are too thin and bend at the slightest impact of the lock to the door frame. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage I've now installed a 2nd one on the same door because the plunger in the first one warped and got stuck in the locked position. The door plates have to be left slightly loose or the handle becomes so stiff you can't get the plunger to move in or out. Next, if there is ANY play in the door at all (which there is because it's a pocket door!) the plunger will not line up and when it does it gets stuck in the locked position when the door is closed. Looking for a suitable alternative.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good solution I have installed a number of these, Much nicer than the notch type and allows you to reuse a door slab for a pocket door, or just order a new one with a standard bore. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pocket Door Lock Lock works great, but it took a lot of playing with to get it right. The depths must be exact or it wont lock right, so it needs lots of adjusting. Also, dont play with the locking device or it will fall apart in your hand leaving you with several parts and no clue how to put them back together. Overall though I would reccomend this lock to a friend because once I got it on right it does do exactly what it is supposed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dream Pocket Door Lock When I installed a steel security door on the doorway leading out to my patio, I encountered a minor problem. Everything went well with the dead bolt, however, when I installed the door knob I found that the bolt wasn't long enough to enter the hole in the security door frame (the dead bolt above it was, but not the door knob). Also, when I tried to shut the main door, the security door knob and the main door knob bumped into each other (preventing the door from closing). So, I decided to try this pocket door lock, even though it isn't designed for security doors. It actually worked better than I thought. The pocket door lock bolt is long like a deadbolt and connects to the security door frame, holding the door closed. In addition, the pocket door lock has a privacy feature. On one side, it has a normal lever arm (for locking and unlocking), but on the other side it has a button that requires a screw driver for locking and unlocking. I set the lever arm on the outside of the door, and left the privacy feature on the inside. Now, I can go out on my patio, close the door behind me, and no one can easily follow me. Peace at last!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job well I installed this pocket door lock without too much trouble. I used a Dewalt template/gig set to make sure the holes were exactly where they were supposed to be since you only get one shot at it. After that the hardest part is just chiseling out the the hole in the jam and on the side of the door. Although the door is not perfectly square there is enough play in the lock that it still worked just fine. My 3 & 4 year olds figured out how to use it out fast enough and were mad when we locked them out the first time.
