Sod Solutions, maker of Empire, specifies only spring, summer, and fall. I, too, have Empire and follow their advice.

Howdy Lulu, I recommend using fertilizer Spring, Summer, and Autumn. This would be every three months. Fertilizing is not recommend during Winter months where it snows. Happy Fertilizing, Coach Dave

15-0-15 St. Augustine Fertilizer is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lesco Turf Fertilizer for St Augustine grass I first used Lesco on my lawn this year. The development I purchased my home in put down St Augustine grass. They did not give any directions for caring for it, but I sort out information about fertilizers and as a result I have the plushest, darkest green lawn in the neighborhood. Everybody pass by and ask what I put on my lawn and I tell them I only use Lesco Turf fertilizer, because it grows thick dark green disease free grass. I believe Scott has a monopoly on the lawns here in Jacksonville, but it does nothing for St Augustine grass in my development except turn it yellow and keep it thin. I am very happy that I chose Lesco for my lawn. I would recommend it for anyone with St Augustine grass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for Centipede in SC Hands down, Lesco 15-0-15 is the best fertilizer I have found for centipede grass. My lawn is extremely green and thick, requiring mowing every five days. No other product or lawn service compares.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Less forgiving I used this in over 85 degree weather first off. Had my setting on 5 3/4 instead of 7 as listed for my spreader, because of the heat. Got about 6 or 7 burn spots near edges and corners. Have used the Lesco 16 4 8 and didn't have these problems. The 16 4 8 has about half the chlorine, 2 kinds of sulfer, 2 kinds of nitrogen, and just is less forgiving, had no burns what so ever in over 85 degree temps. Still gives the dark green color to St Augustine. The 16 4 8 Lesco just seemed like a superior product for my yard. Thought I over did it with 16 4 8 and it just had a darker green spot and grew faster there, but no burns. For the most part the 15 0 15 has done what it is suppose to do, just didn't expect the burn in the areas it burnt. I thought those areas were reasonably thin. Did it in the evening when cooler and just don't know what happened there. I really like that 16 4 8, just thought I would try 15 0 15 after the bang up review. It acted like cheaper stuff to me, except the slow release, we'll see. I'll recommend, but do be careful. I will use my other 16 4 8 next year.
