Product Overview

A popular tradition for underground watering systems, Rain Bird pop-up impact sprinklers are particularly noted for their dependable performance with hard water and other irrigation conditions involving heavy mineral content. Their straight-through flow design also makes them an ideal choice for use with reclaimed water which can clog and corrode other sprinklers. Rain Bird invented the original impact sprinkler and continues to lead the way with proven reliability in a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial installations. The Rain Bird Mini-Paw Pop-Up Rotor Sprinkler features a 3 in. high rotor that can clear tall grass. It can be used in low-pressure and low gallonage conditions, providing up to 4,070 sq ft. of watering coverage. The sprinkler's brass-weighted PJ spray guiding arm provides superior stream control to prevent side splash onto buildings and walkways.

  • Water Saver brass weighted PJ spray guide arm controls stream, prevents side splash onto buildings and walkways
  • Simple, single nozzle selection
  • 1/2 in bottom and side and side inlets
  • Covers 4,070 sq. ft.
  • Spray distances from 26 - 41 ft.
  • Stainless-steel spring for pop-up and retraction
  • Pressure-activated multi-function wiper seal
  • 3 in. high rotor extends beyond tall grass
  • Arc adjusts 20 - 340 degrees and pattern adjusts infinitely
  • Grit-proof

If you have the Rain Bird tool you can just unscrew the inner assembly and leave the outer plastic housing intact in the ground. This way you don't need to dig anything up or re-plumb any water connections. Takes about 5 minutes. I usually remove the old inner assembly, turn on the water to it for a moment to clean out any debris and then install the new inner assembly I have removed from the new outer housing into the outer housing that is still in the ground. Saves so much time and expense. Have done this several times over the years. Never had any issues. Yes I do have a collection of new empty outer housings. :)
Hope this helps.

I have a horizontal water pipe with a vertical 1/2" connection head that I attach the mini-paw to. What do I screw into the mini-paw that connects it to the pipe's connection head? Is it an L- shaped attachment device which connects to the side of the mini-paw?

Answer:
You can purchase a 6 inch riser with a 90 degree bend, the 1/2 male thread end will fit. Or 1 riser, 1 elbow with 2 female thread ends, and another riser/cut off for the side of the sprinkler head.

Answer:
You just need a 1/2" riser. That will screw into the bottom of the sprinkler and the top of your piping.
I find these cheap and versatile: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-1-2-in-x-6-in-Cut-Off-Riser-37069D/100129865 .

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RainBird Impact MID size sprinkler head I had previously purchased this type of Sprinkler head, it is just the right size/distance of spray that I was looking for. Unfortunately, like everything else, this MFR decided to have this spray head made in China. It is not durable, and the cheaply made part broke off after ONE season. The price is OK. July 26, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement sprinkler head. Easily replaceable sprinkler for one that was run over. Make sure the screw-in 90 degree fitting on the bottom is the same size as the previous sprinkler and it's an easy install. Very adjustable to conserve water and provide optimal coverage. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sprinklers Yes as long as pressure stays at least 30 lbs when running. But you may nave to change the spring setting on the swing arm. November 5, 2015
