I thought LG was the top of the line. Why is this rated 2 stars compared to cheaper models

Mine lasted less than two years...very poor quality. I would not recommend buying one...spend a few more bucks and get something that lasts.

We just bouth one and now wonder from the reviews if it's a good choice or a lemon...has anyone been satisfied with it...We are now thinking of returning it and replacing it with a GE...being Canadian, we can't enlist or buy any warranty...can someone help us in finding a good one...thanks.

I would return it if you can. I am VERY disappointed with this. I had a GE before this one, and while it had problems with service (expensive parts), the features and operation were 200% better than this guy. Send it back. I wish I could.

First off, the description is very misleading on the features. The so called "automatic" features are anything but automatic. They simply enter a pre-programmed time and power into the unit, nothing else. There are no inside sensors as would be expected on an automatic cooking device (like my previous oven had.) As such, things are usually over cooked, and occasionally undercooked because your serving sizes are going to vary. It has not been right yet on many dozens of attempts. The unit does NOT have a kitchen timer, something that has been on microwave ovens for decades. (My last two had separate cooking and kitchen timer settings.) Instead, they tell you to basically cook nothing at power level zero to use the device as a kitchen timer. Basically, run the fan, turntable, light, etc all to use the oven as a timer. And, of course, that means you cannot cook while doing this stupid function. DUMB! My previous 12 year old Microwave had the same power rating, yet this takes 30% longer to do the same tasks than the old oven did. I question the power claim. The exhaust fan is useless, and is VERY VERY noisey. We have an outside exhaust system, it was installed correctly (and checked), yet it does not seem to pull anything off the stove at all. Makes a lot of noise, but smoke is not being pulled towards the vents. And the small filters at the bottom where the air is supposedly sucked in too easily fall out as they improperly fit the space. Also note that if the bottom of the oven gets too hot, this fan comes on automatically for quite some time, and cannot be manually turned off. Not sure I like this feature. Missing are a night light setting on the over under oven lamp. BUT, it is too dim to really be useful for a stove lamp anyway. It has just one small bulb rather than two on most units making it basically useless. There are buttons on the panel that are meaningless, like "Time" (which I thought was a timer function - nope.) You can press it before entering cooking time, except that you can just enter cooking time directly anyway, so you don't need to press it. I suspect it is for multi-stage cooking, but I have NEVER used that feature on any oven. There is no turntable off button for putting in large rectangular glass pan (for example), and you are warned not to run the microwave without the bottom glass plate in the oven. There is a mid-level (removable) grate that can be used for this purpose, but then it reduces the height significantly of anything by more than half the original space, so forget cooking a whole chicken this way. Big oversight in my opinion. It has an "energy saver" button. But what does that do? It basically just turns off the clock display when the oven is not in use. That is all. Seriously, just how much energy could that small display use in a year? Maybe a dollar? And note if you set energy save, and you open and close the door, that function is disabled until you press the button each and every time again. AND, if any other feature of the oven is in use (light, fan) this button does nothing. DUMB! I love the big stainless handle, but it gets quite hot if you are cooking on the stove below, so beware that you can burn yourself on it if not careful. On the plus side, the unit looks good, the stainless steel seem a reasonable quality. The 30 second quick start, and the plus/minus keys for adding or subtracting 10 seconds are useful. But, if it was not such a hassle to install a new oven, I would get rid of this now and buy something else. I am NOT at all impressed or happy with this purchase.

OK, so I didn't realize until after we installed it that it does not have a timer!! I used my timer on my ancient microwave all the time for other things I was cooking, etc. The first time we used the popcorn button, it got extremely burnt. Again, my ancient microwave cooked popcorn perfectly. Not impressed.

Worked inconsistently from the beginning. Completely stopped working 18 months after we purchased it. As we were outside of the warranty period, LG charges a minimum of $280+ for a repair visit -- more than the retail price of the unit. LG does not guarantee successful repair and if they cannot repair it, you are still charged a minimum of $100. We are replacing the microwave rather than rolling the dice on repair. Also, staying clear of the LG brand going forward. There are an increasing number of consumer complaints about LG's customer service and brand reliability.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Died after 3 years We have now had to buy our second LG LMV1683ST. We purchased one in 2013 that ceased functioning early this year. We bought another even though we were so unhappy with the longevity of the first one (as the cabinets were already drilled for this model and it was easier to install). Hopefully the new one won't die so quickly. While it looks nice I can't give a product that dies in 3 years anything more than 2 stars. Also, it is worth noting that if anything ever happens to this unit it will cost more money for a service call to attempt to repair the old one than it would to simply buy a new one. Although rated at 1000W cooking output, I'd question that, as it takes longer now to heat food than my previous Kenmore, also rated at 1000W (but what's another 30 seconds!!!). The templates that came for installation were a bit off; but once installed, it worked like a charm. Wish: 1. it does not have the express 1,2,3,4,5 minute button like our previous one, but it does have the 30 second button. 2. Only one light setting...I will change this to a E17 LED bulb once the current 30 watt bulb dies. I don't like wasting energy. 3. The exhaust fan is LOUD, extremely loud, but it does the job great No issues so far after two weeks. Price is great! As long as it holds up, I'm happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT buy LG appliances I bought kitchen appliances less than two years ago. The previous appliances (GE) I had worked just fine but I wanted an upgrade. I like how LG items looked and I bought fridge, gas range, dishwasher and over-the-range microwave. Few weeks ago the microwave handle broke off. I contacted LG since the manufacturers warranty expired after a year of the purchase and after observing that the plastic that attaches the handle and operates the opening mechanism looks cheap and weak. The kindly responded that they can't do anything but I can vent out my dissatisfaction at their VOC (Voice Of Customer). So basically Im stuck with a microwave that can't open but looks 'nice'. If you want quality for your money, do NOT buy LG!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major Disappointment We bought this microwave in June, 2015 and by March, 2016 it stopped working. Not even replacing the curcuit board helped it to work again. The warranty company, out of Norcross, GA, didn't complete their warranty work and we were left with replacing it with a Whirlpool. :(
