Purchased a Washing machine that was fantastic and wanted to continue with the LG brand. Bought a MW/ convection and had problems from the onset. F5 error code, microwave counted down with no microwave activity, the door handle latch turned off the Mw, you name it, Had the guy out twice in the first 2 weeks. after replacing the control panel, dehumidifier switch, door latch it still does not work. Called, set up a 2nd service call, to see if it could be replaced, and the service man called and told me that he could not replace the unit unless he jumped thru hoops and that I should go back to where I purchased it because I would never be happy with this unit. :-(

I had no problem with the microwave part of this appliance. However, I purchased this machine more for the convection oven. Initially, I could not figure out why everything I prepared in the convection oven for the time recommended turned out less than half cook. I would double check my settings, and wait until the signal and readout told me the oven was preheated to the temperature I selected. Still, nothing at all was cooked, even if I added 15 more minutes to the cook time. I bought an oven thermometer to check the actual oven temperature opposed to what the readout was on the machine. First I checked the thermometer for accuracy by putting it in the oven of my gas range. It was perfectly in sync with the range. When testing the convection oven, I discovered that when 400 degrees was selected, the oven never heated to over 350 degrees. I then tested all temperature settings and found that never did the oven reach the setting selected. The temperature was from 40 to 60 degrees less then it should be. This machine was less then a year old and under full warranty so I called LG for service which they arranged. The serviceman ran several tests, then called LG to speak with a technician. He ran other tests at the direction of the technician and was told that the problem cannot be fixed so the machine will be replaced and that LG will contact me with a date. I never received a call, but the man who serviced the machine did. He told me that LG is not replacing the machine. He had no reason why. I called customer service and was told that the machine was running normally so it was not going to be replaced. I did not receive a response when I asked why doesn't the readout display the actual reading of the temperature in the oven, and why doesn't the User Manual address this if it is normal? I went to Home Depot and spoke with a salesman. He told me that he would look into this and get back to me. Around two hours later I got a call from the salesman who told me that I will be getting a call from LG about a delivery date for a new machine. I was very relieved. The new microwave was delivered and installed and this one had the same problems. I called Home Depot, they contacted LG and another machine was delivered and installed. This third microwave had the same issues as microwave one and two. I called Home Depot, they contacted LG and a fourth microwave was sent out. I asked the installer if we could test the machine prior to installing it. He set the convection oven for 400 degrees and 18 minutes later, the temperature in the oven was only 260 degrees. I called Home Depot and told them that the fourth microwave was even worse then the first three and that I do not want another microwave sent to me from LG. They asked me to come into the store and select a different microwave, which I did. I hope LG goes back to the drawing board to correct this issue before someone becomes very ill. The microwave was installed on Saturday 3/15/14. On Tuesday 3/18/14, I opened the door to defrost an item and heard a scraping sound where the door is connected to the unit. I opened and closed the door a few times and the door fell off. The pins that hold the door to the unit are very small and, in my opinion, poorly designed.

Microwave works fine, but convection has not worked since installed. Thermostat and Control board have both been replaced, and still does not work. Temperature is highly erratic and inconsistent. Very disappointed. Have had previous MW/Convection so it is not user error. It simply does not have accurate temperature control for some reason which cannot be determined.

Great! I love the look over my stove. Having a larger microwave makes it easier to warm or cook items for family.

We are having an issue with the microwave in that it keeps tripping our breaker. We have a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the microwave and our old microwave never tripped the circuit. It doesn't happen all the time with the new LG, maybe once a day or once out of every 4 or 5 uses. We had the LG repairman out and of course it wouldn't trip the circuit while he was at our home. He told us it was probably the capacitator? but he needed to "witness" it not working before replacing it. He was going to go ahead and order one and now we are waiting to hear back from him...however I am not sure if we will be able to get it to trip the circuit when he is here. It is very annoying. We are very happy with all other aspects of the microwave and the convection oven works perfect. It's great to have that option when cooking a big meal. If this issue was fixed I would recommend this product but for now can only rate it average.

As far as looks go, it is really nice but it is not as powerful as my other microwave so I have to adjust the time on all my cooking. It also does not have express cook time like my other (where all you have to do is it the #1 & it will cook for 1 minute. It went all the way to #5 - 5 minutes of cooking). This doesn't have that. Because it's also a convection oven you always have to hit the Microwave button first & then the time you want & then start. A few extra steps. But all in all I've now adjusted. Have used the combo cooking to cook spaghetti squash & it came good. I plan on using the convection/combo cooking more as the hot summer months roll along. I hate to light up the gas stove as it heats the house too much. I live in Florida & summer lasts a pretty long time.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by unhappy Not sure what's worse - the microwave itself or the warranty service. Both are awful.
Bought the top of the line LG, and i'm now on my 6th claim for the magnetron and other related parts. I feel bad for the service guys because they have to bear the brunt of our unhappiness. So if you buy LG, get the warranty....you'll need it. Unfortunately, the warranty service just prolongs the pain.
