Is the sleeve necessary if I frame and support the unit through the wall using other means.

Is there any airspace required on the sides of the unit that the sleeve would accommodate for? I plan to screw the unit directly to the studs avoiding any internal components and support the back end with jack chain and turn buckles.

Use of a new sleeve is highly recommended to maintain the best performance of the new air conditioner.and an existing sleeve that is in good structural condition and must have a rear grille to securely attach the new air conditioner can be used with the Model # LT103CER.
