Hello Aaron. We regret to read that your LG 10,000 BTU 230-Volt Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner with Remote, Model # LT1033CNR will not start and keeps shutting down. You mentioned that this unit was purchased "sometime ago" so the unit had been in storage up until recently when it had to be installed and that may be what the issue is. The problem you have described sounds a lot like the unit may not have been stored upright. The carton for the unit has an arrow that says "This Way Up". If the unit is not stored in that position, you will need to wait at least 24 hours before turning it on. The compressor of the air conditioner is like a small electric motor having gears and turning parts requiring lubrication. The lubrication in the compressor of the air conditioner is in the form of oil, typically located in the sump of the compressor. When a unit air conditioner is placed on its side, this oil settles in the bottom half of the compressor and potentially deprives part of compressor oil, which can cause damage and, eventually, a blown compressor. If an air conditioner has been stored on its side, or when you get an air conditioner that has been sent, you must ensure that care has been arranged horizontally for a period of at least 24 hours before turning on the unit, allows sufficient time for oils and lubricants return to their appropriate levels, protecting the gears and moving parts...^IFV Read Less
