Customer Questions & Answers

If I set it to COOL (not dry) ...do I need to install the exhaust hose to the outside window at all?

Based on the Q and A it seems that the exhaust hose is only needed for the dry setting...otherwise, the tank just fills up and needs to be emptied every so often on the COOL setting. Is this correct?
Asked by: TooToasty
Yes you do. They are talking about the air dryer selection. Unit must be vented to out side or unit would act like a heater.

How do you drain the water? Does it have to be connected to a drain, or is there a pan to empty?

Asked by: fifi99
Simply left the unit up period place it on those black call coasters that are made for a bed. And left the unit up 4 inches off the ground and then simply attach a plastic hose out the door. Way easier.

If I were to install this in my camper, can I vent through the floor?

Asked by: Camper
I'm sure you could vent it through the floor, however, I would add a steel mesh cover to the outside to prevent small rodents, bird, etc from gaining entry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our central A/C has trouble cooling our bedroom because it is the room farthest from the compress... Our central A/C has trouble cooling our bedroom because it is the room farthest from the compressor. At night, we would set the central A/C at 71 degrees, but this made the other rooms in our home too cold. We purchased the LG 10,000 portable A/C to cool down our bedroom (11ft. X 12ft.) at night. The LG works great and during the summer, we set it at 70 degrees & let it run all night. We are then able to shut central A/C off thus saving money. The LG is powerful and cools our bedroom within minutes. The LG unit is a little noisy, but we are able to adjust & sleep through the night without any problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Enough I bought this portable air conditioner because my apartment complex doesn't allow outside-the-window air conditioners. I felt the price was very reasonable. The way that my apartment is designed, I had to install the AC in the kitchen window to cool down my living room. This wasn't a problem with the venting hose provided and I liked that I could wheel the AC to face my living room. (My con with the venting hose is that it pops out of the diffuser too easily, so I had to tape it together). The rest of the installation went smoothly. This AC cools down the room quickly, but it is a bit loud.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't But! My third air conditioner has failed again! The compressor stops running before the room is cooled. I purchased the 10,000 BTU to ensure a cool room, the 8,000 would have been fine. In reading reviews online, I see that a lot of people have experienced the same thing. Apparently not filled or leaking cooling fluid is the cause. I bought this to replace an older LG that worked great for about four years. After three LG air conditioners, I will try a different brand. Frustrating, but happy that Home Depot has replaced each unit. I will be returning this on today!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needed a quick fix; but this model is way too noisy Needed a quick and reasonably priced fix for a guest room. Bought product and set it up. It is very noisy - way beyond the decibels listed. Probably more like 80 or more. Maybe it is just my unit. The low fan is almost as noisy and fast as the high, so again - perhaps just my unit. Wish there were 3 fan settings. I will be returning it for a different model after the holiday weekend. The cold output is very good. It looks nice and has a small foot print. It was also easy to setup, but was missing one of 3 types of screws and you will probably need more foam to install it. You've been warned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from TOO LOUD Really tried to like this unit because the price and quality overall are great. It was super easy to install, but holy cow, this thing is LOUD!! I have to turn the TV up to 70 to hear it over the lower setting. As other people have said, low and high speed are practically the same. There is no way this is 55 dBA - closer to 70 (think a vacuum cleaner, but if it was more of a white noise sound). I am partially deaf in one ear, and I still could not sleep with this on. Unfortunately, it's going back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great investment! This air condition has been one the best things i have spent my money on. Its great. Its not exactly "portable" however, it can moved around from window to window, and if you expand the exhaust tube it can be moved around the room a little. I have a medium sized room, (as big as can be for a suite apartment), and it cooled my room so much, most of the extremely hot summer i had to maintain it on low because it would be so cold. Basically, it cools, well, doesn't take up much space, and its easy to store in a closet. the building where i live in, charges for air condition services, so i literally saved myself about 70 dollars per month!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price, but . . . Purchased 9/9 in Florida and can't be happier with purchase thus far. The upside: Portable AC being used on screened porch with vinyl windows - 12 x 20 porch with 10' ceiling. First thing I did was plug it in without connecting exhaust hose to determine if unit was too loud or acceptable. Sorry for those saying it's too loud, but it's actually very quiet compared to my central AC unit and a box fan. Exhaust hose installation was fairly easy considering my vertical windows are 58" tall. Installation accessories covered 54" so open area at top was covered with white duct tape which blends in nicely with window frame. Unit cools room extremely fast considering humidity here 95 early AM and temp 80 by 9:00 am. By late morning room is very comfortable. The downside: water drain plug is very low and unit does not include drain hose. To drain collected water you must unplug unit (not convenient for us), disengage exhaust hose and move to outside door or other convenient place to drain water and then move back to original location, reconnect exhaust hose and electrical plug. Not very convenient. Trying to find appropriate drain hose and connections not easy or convenient. Have given Ace Hardware a challenge, but methinks LG should provide appropriate lower drain hose and connections. Overall, I recommend this unit other than notes stated above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent solution to a warm room This unit puts out cold air FAST. It is perfect for our master bedroom (15ft × 20ft) which used to be the warmest room in the house. Full Disclosure: It is a little noisy, but it doesn't bother me at all. It sounds like the window units you find in motel rooms.
