I am a Conditioned Air Contractor II and bought the unit for cooling in my own home while I installed a new system of my own design . LG customer service very poor and UN knowledgeable of their own product . It could have been a home run but engineers blew it . It has a hot air discharge but no air intake to feed the compressor for cooling .. It takes air out of the room to cool itself . It therefore draws a low pressure on the room and pulls hot air from the outside through the rest of the house . .It does not recycle its conditioned air . This is a HUGE false load . This reduces available cooling and efficiency. I seriously question given specifications . Big Orange I love you guys but this makes you look bad . I am trying to modify externally . It is my nature to solve problems . Maybe this is a business opportunity for me. Corporate look me up and call me. GA CN 003634

Our AC went out and needed something to tie us over until it was fixed. Portable unit helped tremendously by keeping us cool. Totally worth it!

The unit is very noisy! I bought it to cool my home office and it is so noisy I cannot conduct calls. The fan is high or very high, no in between. I went outside to check if hot air was blowing outside, and to my surprise, it was cool! seems when the unit senses the room has reached the temp setting, the compressor turns off, but the fan still blows, which results in your hard earned cool air being shot outside.
Sad, I was hoping it would work, for the portability aspect, but I will be returning this unit for a traditional window unit.

I purchased one of these air conditioners last year and it took care of our needs very well. Worked efficiently and at low cost energy wise. This year in need of another? Got another of the same.

The cast rollers on this portable make it moveable on even out carpet, but it'll take a little 'oomph.' It's a little louder than I would like, but - given that I often sleep with a window fan on in the summer - the noise is bearable enough to sleep with. It cools our living area of our apartment mostly decently, though it's not designed for this bigger space, and it works in our small bedrooms just fine. The flexible venting hose set-up that vents outside via the window is a touch clunky when I have to set it aside to access outside things, but it's still quite workable. Would like it to have a more readily understandable readout (when it says 75 degrees, does that mean it's 75 in the room, or that it'll cease cooling at 75?), and that it would shut itself off completely (including the fan) when the proper temp. is reached. All that shuts off then is the cooling element, leaving the fan running. The dehumidifier is lovely, given I live in an often-humid region. The little remote is nice, too, so I don't have to constantly get up to turn the unit on and off. It may not be super-cute (the look is acceptable), but it'll fit in a corner, against a wall, and keep an apartment room COOL. I'm pleased with it, so far, and it's run like a champ.

In a HUGE bind when the central air went out in my rental house in the Florida Keys. I needed something to chill at least the common area of the house while my landlord worked on replacing the central air condenser unit. This was the only portable unit with 10000 BTU that was not a window unit. I haggled for a good discount since it was missing parts and the last one... Good thing is my adapted duct work seems to be much sturdier than the system that was provided with the system. All it took was a 6" Duct Starter Collar take off (with some adjustments and bending to the fluted end- duct taped to the unit to prevent leaks, and then attached to a 6" Aluminum flex pipe- duct tape and held on with a 7" drive clamp. For my window piece I went with fast and expedient- heavy duty cardboard box designed for moving glass (it just so happened to fit perfectly in my window) with insulation shoved in it. So for less than $20 (plus tax) I was able to make a more sturdy hook up- you could use insulated flexible duct work- which would help with keeping the heat from the exhaust from effecting the thermostat on the unit.

We are having a weeks long heat wave. Recently moved into an older home with no a/c. Every store in town had sold out of portable units, I stalked my local HD and brought this home one week ago. As a person who has never lived without central a/c, I did not know what to expect. We have this in an appx. 250 sq foot front room which has large arched doorways into a sun room, the kitchen and a foyer - no doors to these other rooms. With this challenging room configuration I was concerned this 10,000 BTU unit (the only size in stock) would be pointless. I have to say, I am very pleasantly surprised. It is currently 96 outside and the hottest time of day, the 7th day of ongoing 90+ degree temps - and it is 76 degrees in the main room of our home. I would call that a success. When we are cooking in the kitchen we swivel it around and aim it that way, and it is effective. We have a fan on the opposite side of the room blowing the cool air towards the back of the house and that has helped immensely. For what we paid and no installation required, I am pleased. Setting it up was easy. I do not run this overnight, we have not needed it, so I remove the kit from the window at night and just put it back in when it warms up during the day. After running it 7 afternoons/evenings in a row, I had to drain it for the first time today. Was expecting a huge nightmare based on previous reviews here, but simply unhooked the hose, rolled it to the front door and let it sit on the doorstep, unplugged it, let it drain onto the porch (it's hot out, it dried in minutes) and rolled it back in place. Took less than 5 minutes, no mess, no spills. I was also concerned it would be very loud based on reviews, it seems equal to a window unit, not sure what people are expecting. Sounds exactly the same to me. We can watch tv, have conversation, speak on the phone, no big deal. Another note, you cannot go by the room temp noted on the unit while it is running. The hose and back do run hot and it seems to be picking up on that. I suggest keeping the unit right next to the window without extending the hose all the way. I placed a digital room thermometer ten feet away to the side of the unit (air not blowing directly on it) and am using that as my point of reference - the unit itself is stating 82 degrees, which it may well be behind the unit (but I'm not sitting behind the unit so I don't care!) So in conclusion, it's only been a week but I feel this is $$$ well spent and an item that lives up to what it has promised - what else can I ask for??!

Cooling unit works great. Did have a bit off trouble sizing all the extension pieces to fit the window. But has good options and it looks and runs great!
