CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 327 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Working Out Well For Me I don't have central A/C and I have one room that gets pummeled by the afternoon sun. It's a smallish room, about 10 x 13 ft. I have my computer and some other electronics in the room and it gets pretty warm at times. This unit was very easy to install and is keeping the room very cool, even on Low. It's light enough that I will be able to roll it into the bedroom when we hit the hottest part of summer and sleeping gets to be challenging. Some have said it's noisy but it's quieter than any window A/C units I've been exposed to. You have to expect that these portable (and window A/C) units aren't going to be whisper quiet. So far, I'm so happy with it that I might buy a second one for downstairs. Note: it draws a fair amount of power and the instructions suggest a dedicated AC outlet. I measured this unit at 11 amps using a "Watts Up" meter. Fortunately, I had a lightly loaded circuit that I could plug it into. March 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase I have seen a lot of negative reviews on installing the exhaust panel. With a little bit of creativity it can be done and done easily. I recently purchased new vinyl windows so did not want to drill into them. I ended up using wood dowels to hold everything in place. Easy peasy! Place a dowel to brace to thinner portion of the panel in the bottom of the window frame. 2 dowels to secure the top window pane in place and to secure and the bottom pane in place (which also creates and tight seal on the panel). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Aesthetically and Functionally Enjoyable TL;DR: It's one of the most aesthetically pleasing portable air conditioners made of very high quality plastic rocking a digital remote, almost no setup, low maintenance, and doesn't sound like a jet turbine. Just make sure to measure your windows if they're on the tiny or gigantic side. I named mine FroJill. I move almost yearly to new rental houses, and I cannot sleep unless I'm in 60-74 degree weather. Unfortunately my office always ends up being a room in the house that’s never lower than 75-80 degrees unless it’s freezing outside. I finally made the decision about a month ago to buy a portable air conditioner after some mild searching (it was hot, I couldn't wait). If it matters to you, I live in Florida, very humid and hot or cold and clammy, but I am running this alongside a central AC so if the humidity was going to be a problem I won’t notice it. The packaging is extremely straightforward. Once you sever the straps on the box the entire top just slides off and the machine is resting on about 5 inches of dense foam. After you lift it onto the ground, hopefully without hurting your back in your sweltering house, it will roll on caster wheels without a problem, at least on hard wood. Batteries are included for the remote, if that’s going to make or break your purchase. I made the mistake of not measuring my window beforehand in my rush to live in a winter wonderland. My window is about 16 inches wide, just as wide as the piece that connects the tubing to the window. This piece is a few millimeters thick, but is certainly not flimsy or cheaply made. The catch is there are much thicker plastic pieces that slide onto the smaller one which your window will press down on holding the entire contraption in place. Since I did not have this the tubing is decently heavy and you can’t just lay the thing against your window and hope it doesn't fall out. I turned to the sponge-like pieces which is the insulation you’re meant to use surrounding these plastic pieces, and I didn’t feel like committing to removing their adhesive protection from what seemed like a doomed window and I did the only logical thing and duct taped the entire plastic framing to the window. This actually holds the tubing quite well, doesn't show signs of degrading very quickly, and will keep out unwanted Florida critters until I move again. The heat of the tubing has actually made the bottom tape, which doesn’t really hold it otherwise just insulate, lose its grip but that’s easily fixed with more duct tape. Don’t be like me and just measure your window. The machine itself is very aesthetically pleasing. It’s a shiny grey color no different than the picture and can hold its own in a beauty contest with other portable air conditioners. The remote is slick, partly plain grey, and a sparkly silver on the back. The remote is also digital, and holds almost all functionality of the buttons on the actual machine. The only problem with the remote is if you go up to the machine to change anything the remote will be unaware of this change. For instance, if you turned the machine from 73 down to 72 manually, the remote will still be on 73 and if you want it on 71 you will have to go down twice. Does this defeat the purpose of the remote being digital? Perhaps, but it’s not anywhere close to annoying. To make it better, the machine makes cute little chimes and beeps which are more melodic than I expected. The tubing is impossible to hide and will be the only distasteful part of the appliance. In terms of cooling capacity I use this machine in a 200 square foot room connected to a hallway and bathroom that is about 300 square feet in total space. If I leave all other doors shut these areas will cool, not perfectly, but enough. The room itself is cooled in minutes to a comfortable level but I have no doubt it can get really cold if you desired. The machine makes about the same noise level as a quiet swivel fan about 7 feet away from it on the lowest setting. It can get decently loud if you turned the fan all the way up to its 3rd setting if you really needed the room cooled down, but all portable air conditioners make noise and you can’t avoid it. I’m able to watch TV and sleep with it 2 feet away from me without a problem. It can gurgle and make other fridge-like sounds but nothing that doesn't sound like the power of science. I rambled quite a lot, and the only other thing I’d say is yes its worth it because it does its job and it’s not incredibly ugly like most of these appliances tend to be. I have not needed to empty it in my month of owning the machine and even though I had to duct tape the thing to my window it’s performing extremely well to the point where I’m noticing the machine less often than I would notice me sweating at my desk because my room is boiling me alive. The only con I can come up with unless I just didn't read the specs beforehand or know that these things make mild noise is that the LEDs on the front of the machine are bright enough to let you visibly see in a pitch black room and you can't turn them off. Unless you're staring at the machine as you sleep I don't see a huge problem with it though. May 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by If Your Compressor Shuts Off All the Time I actually bought two of the 14,000 BTU versions of this unit. Neither one worked right out of the box. The compressor would shut-off within a minute on each. I checked all the items on the troubleshooting guide and even called their technical assistance hotline (they read the manual to me). I decided to return them and as I was packing them up I noticed that the factory had packed a bunch of insulation in the exhaust hose. It was completely clogged. Maybe it's just me but I never expected them to send the air hose out of the factory with a blockage in it....and maybe I didn't read the instructions carefully enough but I thought it would be good to let others know in case someone else makes the same assumption that I did. If the compressor keeps shutting off, check inside the vent hose. It may have parts packed in it. June 17, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not so good This product has started to have problems shy of a year....... I only use the unit for back up so it should be performing at a much better level. The cost is $400 from home depot and it is not a good value if it doesn't last!!! I purchased an LG Portable A/C a few years back and it lasted about 2 years and then stopped blowing cool air. I expect LG products to last..... and they aren't and it is NOT Making my Life Good!!!! Unit is Malfunctioning and I've called LG in for service.... I'm just lucky it has not made it to the one year level... products need to be better and warranties much longer. June 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loud AC?? No idea how someone says it is! Purchased to cool about a 30x30 area for the family to camp in while the central AC gets fixed. We rent so I purchased this the same day just in case the landlord takes awhile or it's a big fix. Very happy with it.. cools really well...made the large area quite comfortable. Was a lil tricky setting panels in window with the exhaust hose but that is a really minor complaint. Not sure how someone says it sounds like an F-16 Tomcat but that's just how ridiculous people can be. Guess they thought it'll be as quite as an ipad...silly. It is an AC with a sound of what I believe to be a quite relaxing sound of cold air blowing so disregard all silly talk of it sounding like a fighter jet. June 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT BUY - WORKS GREAT - Helpfull Hint lf you transport it to your home on its side leave standing up for 24 hours before you turn on I always read the reviews I find them to be very helpful... So when I see 1-3 stars I read them to see what the issue is. On almost all of them the issue was it was really loud. I have to say it is no louder than a window air conditioner. My husband is a mechanic and said if the item was brought home on its side all the fluid will go to the side that you should have it standing up right for 24 hours before you start it up so it will give the fluid a chance to go back to were it belongs. He said that may be why they said it was loud. It works great. We just love it. May 27, 2015
