Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by ML450 Works well, a bit noisy.
The unit cools my entire apartment very well and was easy to assemble and get running. I work nights so I'm at home trying to sleep during the hottest hours of the day and I need a cool room to sleep in. This unit works great to keep my apartment cool enough for me to sleep even when temperatures near 100 degrees outside. My only issue with it is the noise level. Due to the layout of my apartment, the only place I could put it is near my TV. When it's running it is a little noisy (nothing too extreme, I've dealt with worse in the past), and I have to turn my TV up louder than I would like just to hear what is being said. Other than that, I am happy with this unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by TomB VERY happy, surprisingly quiet!
Easy setup. Box is open on bottom, slide box up vs. lifting heavy unit out like I did. My back may be shot now, but at least I'm cool...
Much quieter than I was expecting based on some complaints. Especially with the fan on low. What are they comparing it to, central a/c? It's quieter than the 3 window units I have at a different location.
The drain plug is about 18" off the ground. I took a piece of tube and put it in a gallon jug and will monitor. I don't see that as any issue. Someone here reported of tilting the unit back to drain? Seriously?
The remote control is nicer than it needs to be, so I'm very happy with that too (it's important for guys, haha)
They give you 90 days to return this, which is awesome. I can't imagine returning it, unless there is a mechanical problem. Have no complaints whatsoever. Don't go cheap on the BTU's, you won't be sorry if you have more than you could have gotten away with and the unit won't have to work as hard!!
According to the Instruction booklet, and I qoute: "If you eat the fluid from inside the remote's batteries, brush your teeth and see a doctor". LOL! Who knew?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Alex One week Review
I don't think I have ever written a review on Home Depot, but since I bought this machine after reading all the other reviews here, I thought I contribute to it as well.
It's been a week since I bought this product, 12,000 BTU LG. If something happens as time goes on, I'll update this review.
My problems was an office space waiting area that was getting uncomfortably warm. The office space
has its own central a/c but very old machines and not big enough.
My office does not have any windows to vent out to. No openings at all. So, the only place to vent the exhaust to is the wall space. Between the drywall and the outside brick wall, there is over 2 feet of space. Also, the attic space is vented to the outside through a fan on the ceiling. It's not perfect, but I do not really have much choice. I need to cool this space at least until the summer is out. And the outcome is what I'm concerned about, not the process.
So, I bought this unit. Here is how it went.
I bought it from a local Home Depot, and placed it in my back of a BMW 328i. Yes, it fits well, it's not that heavy to carry either.
Opened the top of the box and tried to pull it out. Don't do that. Instead of trying to take the machine out of the box, just pull on the box itself, and it will detach from the bottom part of the box, leaving the machine sitting on the bottom half the box, with a styrofoam bottom.
Took the template out, placed it on the wall, drew the template there. Cut the drywall. I then attached the included hose to the drywall, and screwed to the wall. It's firmly attached.
I then fired up the machine. Man oh man; even at the low setting, I was getting cold. Then I put it on high setting, boy that thing can blow cold air really far. the waiting room is 20ft long and 10ft wide; but it's not a closed off room; there is an open window to the rest of the office.
We now use the energy saver option, which turns the machine off when the temperature setting is reached.
I have not drained or attached a drain hose to the back of it yet. Will check in a week.
About the noise: I don't know if it is loud. May be if I use it in a bedroom at night, while I'm trying to sleep, may be; But I still doubt it. It's quite enough for me anywhere, especially in the office.
I will be checking the wall (dry wall) every once in a while to see if it has been damaged or any mold has developed. Since I'll be using it for a limited period of time, I doubt I will have these problems. If I do, the fix is pretty easy, replace the drywall or spray anti mold stuff on it. I have access to the dry wall from both sides.
Good luck to you all.

My husband and I have a two-story condo, and the upstairs is always MUCH warmer than the downstairs in the summer. We would often have to set our central A/C unit to 68-69 degrees in order to get the upstairs to a cooler (still not very cool) temperature. After ten years, we ended up having to replace our central A/C unit. After we spent over $3,000 to replace it, we wanted to be more conservative on the temperature we kept our condo during the summer months in order to preserve the unit for as long as possible, so we keep it at 71 degrees. That is fine for the downstairs, but upstairs, it was still 72 degrees or warmer....and humid.
We decided this summer, we were going to try using a portable A/C unit upstairs to help cool down our master bedroom and bathroom. Our primary concern was removing the screen to our window, but we were able to install the window kit with the screen intact. The window kit works very well.....the unit hose fits tightly into the hole, so no worries about bugs or heat getting into the bedroom.
This unit works wonderfully well. It cools down the room very quickly, and now our master bedroom is the coolest place in the entire house. We decided to install a radiator hose to the drain in the unit and allow it to drain into a Tupperware container on a constant basis. We only turn on the unit at night and keep it on in the mornings as we get ready for work. The noise from the unit is minimal. We have no trouble sleeping even with the fan on high. It cools quickly and maintains the cooler temperature for hours.
We couldn't be happier with this product, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable A/C unit.
