How does the unit dispose of the water it condenses from the air?

Water is condensed from the air as part of the cooling process. Has does this unit dispose of the condensate?
Asked by: Crocket
Some of the water goes out the exhaust tube. If your area is very humid, you will also get condensation building up in the internal reservoir that will then need to be drained. If you're using "dry" mode you'll definitely need to drain it. This requires a 1/2 inch tube that drains BELOW the level of the connection at the back of the unit. A shower drain can be used in a pinch. If you use a bucket it should be a short one. Your drain tube should not ever rise above the level of the drain plug on the back of the unit.

My window is 55" high and opens right to left, will this product work?

Asked by: tony
Yes it will work, though you will need to use all 4 panels all together. I am using it at 56" right now, though there is not much overlap on the panels, just be sure you have them fastened securely with the little screws on the sides and you'll be good to go.

I use them in my enclosed garage wood working shops and vent them up into the attics using insulated 10 inch flexible duct to keep the resistance down. This is not recommended by LG but has worked well in the first one for 3+ years and is going strong down in southern Florida for over a month. A great substitute for a $5,000 + A/C system requiring approval from HOA for an outside compressor. First one is servicing a shop the size of a 2 car garage while second one, in Fla., a shop the size of a single car garage. A wonderful product from a great manufacturer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product This unit moves alot of air quickly , and efficiently . I vent the exhaust through the floor of my home which is pier and beam . The biggest complaint I read about portable and window air conditioners is that they are noisy. They all make noise, the compressor and fan are inside the house rather than outside. Quit ones do not exist. The benifit of the portable style is that you do not have an a/c hanging out of your window. The down side is that they take up more space than a window unit . All and all it does what LG claims, it cools very well and does it rather effeciently . As for longevity I cannot say, I have only had it for a few months . Great product so far. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I use this in a sunroom that is 13 x 26, with eight single pane patio doors; four of these doors receive full sun for about four hours a day. I live in Georgia, and it's been in the 90's since I purchased it. Last year I would have to close this room off, and go to the living room after 2:00 in the afternoon it was so hot. It's not overly noisy, about the same as a box fan would be. I have it at one end of the room, and the tv and couches at another end; I can hear the tv fine. Installation was easy. I've only had it for a month, but so far am pleased. I am curious to see the difference in my power bill, and will try to remember to come back and update this.

Within five months it had a leak in the tubing and a manufactures representative had to solder the tubes back together. You're kidding me right? No! He had to braise and solder a brand-new air conditioner back together. Within another year, it was defective again and no warranty, even though we had an extended warranty. I am unhappy with Home Depot, Assurion, and LG. No one could care about this issue. Other than us of course.

Now I have two for opposite corners of the house. I live in Tucson, AZ and it gets really hot in the summer. This model kept two large rooms cool. Thermostat seems to be very accurate. 3 speeds on the fan. Installation of the vent panel was fairly easy. I do recommend it.

Didn't even get the chance to use this product because the window kit was designed so poorly. The description says that it is supposed to fit a 34" window, which is what I have, but it actually does not. The pieces would fit up to 33" and 35" and above but not 34". I struggled for 30 minutes trying to get the window kit put in but it is just a terrible design. The plastic pieces fit together using screws instead of pins so trying to adjust the panels to fit the window right is arduous, and the panels are really flimsy to begin with. I ended up returning this unit for a Honeywell one and had zero problems with the window kit on the Honeywell unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never did work right. I have had this unit for two years (spring of 2014). First year it cooled some but not great. It never did produce any condensate. Spring of 2015 the unit did not cool. I did purchase the service plan. Technician came out and had to order a new coil. I purchased a window unit while waiting for the repair. Unit was repaired and it did cool some. The unit still did not produce any condensate water. The storage tank has been bone dry since I purchased it. Spring 2016 unit will not cool. Called in for a repair. Not happy with this unit. I want Home Depot to replace it with a new unit. Service center says it has to break 4 times for same repair. I do not move the unit so there is no reason for it to develop a leak.
