Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by selfcurledgirl Don't buy this unit
I bought one unit after the other. The first unit didn't work. It didn't blow out cold air into the room or hot air out the window. I had to pay $45 for my local home depot to pick it up and take it back. Home depot.com did give me $100 which covered that, towards another unit. So i bought another unit and it also doesn't work. The lG tech is coming tomorrow to see about it. I doubt he can do something, unless there's some switch inside I don't know about. This has been so frustrating. Home Depot was good and LG does have service for a guy is coming, this should not happen to two new units. I am going to look for another brand unless this guy has the magic answer tomorrow.

Empty it, tip it over on its side, anyway you try to get the water out of it you'll end up with soaked floors. Yes I drain it and yes I've read the manual.the machine simply can't handle humidity. Condensation pools at the bottom of the unit, not in the reservoir to turn the machine off. That's where the leak is from.It cools fine but not worth the water damaged floors. I'd recommend getting a window unit that drains outside. Don't waste your time reading the good reviews.

We opted for this portable air conditioner to cool the second level of our house this summer for both of our children's bedrooms. One unit placed in the hallway (with vent going out the bathroom window) cooled both of their rooms and play room. It got quit hot upstairs pretty early on in the summer and this was a quick buy because we were not comfortable with them sleeping in such high temperatures. They both sleep with standing fans in their rooms (for sound mostly). I was worried 12,000 BTU wouldn't be enough to cool the entire area, just under 500 sq. ft but it has worked great. The air conditioner runs almost all day, and night and we haven't had any problems. Great product were glad we went with this one!

I use this in a sunroom that is 13 x 26, with eight single pane patio doors; four of these doors receive full sun for about four hours a day. I live in Georgia, and it's been in the 90's since I purchased it. Last year I would have to close this room off, and go to the living room after 2:00 in the afternoon it was so hot.
It's not overly noisy, about the same as a box fan would be. I have it at one end of the room, and the tv and couches at another end; I can hear the tv fine.
Installation was easy.
I've only had it for a month, but so far am pleased.
I am curious to see the difference in my power bill, and will try to remember to come back and update this.

I purchased two of these a/cs at the beginning of this summer and one of them broke pretty much right away. I have it sitting in a tub in case of leakage so my wood floor is not ruined. I have used portable a/cs before and there is always drippage so I'm careful. For one of the a/cs, the tub fills up with water pretty much right away. You could hear there is some type of leak in the unit. It also started making this rattling noise. The other unit works well - but I would not gamble - its is a huge hassle returning this a/c back to the store.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Josh Not made for 400 sqft
I have always loved and trusted LG products and will continue to but this purchase was a disappointment. It claims to work for areas up to 400 sqft. I put it in a 240 sqft bedroom and it took 5 hours to cool the room 3 degrees. It tripped the 15 amp breaker in the process, and all I had going was the light and 2 fans. So I left running over night with nothing else on that breaker other than 2 cell phones and it tripped the breaker again overnight. So disappointed here, my advice is to stick with LG for TVs and appliances. It doesnt look like they know what they are doing with A/C.
