Customer Questions & Answers

Is it quite?

I have 2 month old baby and concerning about noise level of AC. I purchased LP1213GXR week ago but it was loud so I had to return it.
Asked by: huhhaha
It is as quiet as the Frigidaire 6000 btu window unit it's replacing. I'm getting twice the btu for the same noise level. I would say the unit is quieter than a oscillating fan on medium speed to give you a reference point.

How does the unit dispose of the water it condenses from the air?

Water is condensed from the air as part of the cooling process. Has does this unit dispose of the condensate?
Asked by: Crocket
Some of the water goes out the exhaust tube. If your area is very humid, you will also get condensation building up in the internal reservoir that will then need to be drained. If you're using "dry" mode you'll definitely need to drain it. This requires a 1/2 inch tube that drains BELOW the level of the connection at the back of the unit. A shower drain can be used in a pinch. If you use a bucket it should be a short one. Your drain tube should not ever rise above the level of the drain plug on the back of the unit.

My window is 55" high and opens right to left, will this product work?

Asked by: tony
Yes it will work, though you will need to use all 4 panels all together. I am using it at 56" right now, though there is not much overlap on the panels, just be sure you have them fastened securely with the little screws on the sides and you'll be good to go.

Customer Reviews

12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and Dehumidifier Function with Remote Control in Gray (67.2 Pint/Day) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 587.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I use this in a sunroom that is 13 x 26, with eight single pane patio doors; four of these doors receive full sun for about four hours a day. I live in Georgia, and it's been in the 90's since I purchased it. Last year I would have to close this room off, and go to the living room after 2:00 in the afternoon it was so hot. It's not overly noisy, about the same as a box fan would be. I have it at one end of the room, and the tv and couches at another end; I can hear the tv fine. Installation was easy. I've only had it for a month, but so far am pleased. I am curious to see the difference in my power bill, and will try to remember to come back and update this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a charm! I live in Houston, Tx & bought this unit for an upstairs game room (the only room upstairs) since there is only one main unit for the 2,700sq ft house, and the game room is always 10-15° warmer than the rest of the house - which is excruciatingly hot during the summer months. I've had the unit for over a year now and run it just about every day. The unit does have it's quirks, ie: spitting out water from time to time (which didn't cause any real problems) but other than that has been a Godsend. Last week I received a CH02 error message, and instead of calling a tech I simply cleaned the air filter (which hadn't been closed since I bought it... Oops!), And it fixed the issue. --hope that helps someone in the future. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware! The condensation tank holds 1 liter of fluid and has no shut off feature. It leaks from the bottom when full. A warning is supposed to show but it does not. Also, mine has leaked when vented into a bucket. It cools and removes humidity from the air great, but this design flaw is very annoying. The foreign service personnel are not much help. Keep looking for a better unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little AC I sectioned off a part of my garage with drywall and everything as a man cave that I've always dreamt of. It can get quite hot so I looked into my options and decided on this unit. It works great, blows strong and cools very well. I never knew how high tech these new ones are until I bought this LG. It included a remote in which you can control everything from. So far I'm very impressed and would recommend this to anyone that needs it. If I had to do it over again I would buy the same exact one also. Did I mention that I bought a cheaper one before this and ended up returning it right away because it was struggling to keep the small area cool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never did work right. I have had this unit for two years (spring of 2014). First year it cooled some but not great. It never did produce any condensate. Spring of 2015 the unit did not cool. I did purchase the service plan. Technician came out and had to order a new coil. I purchased a window unit while waiting for the repair. Unit was repaired and it did cool some. The unit still did not produce any condensate water. The storage tank has been bone dry since I purchased it. Spring 2016 unit will not cool. Called in for a repair. Not happy with this unit. I want Home Depot to replace it with a new unit. Service center says it has to break 4 times for same repair. I do not move the unit so there is no reason for it to develop a leak.

I've never had any leaking issues but I only use the unit for A/C and not for drying. Here are some hints for those of you having issues: (1) if you use a drain hose it must not go UP as there is no pump inside the unit and if you route your hose up and over something it will just leak. Use a pump or ensure that the entire drain hose is LOWER than the point where it connects to the unit. (2) for better cooling efficiency, cover the exaust hose in insulating material. I use HVAC duct insulation but if you're sensitive to fiberglass you might want to use something else. The exhaust hose gets hot and can reintroduce heat into the room you're trying to cool.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from so so If you want to use just one season of summer, it is good. However, if you want to use long lasting, it is not. I purchased this last year. At that time it was very good. But at this summer, it is not working good. warm air comes out. when I contact to the LG service, they recommend to clean filter. But I already clean it. and reinstall the vent and all things as I can. But it still no good. I really disappointed about LG product. Because last year, my washer that made from LG, also broken been around two years. I'll never purchase the LG product again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Work for 1 year then died This unit worked great for 1 year and the moment the warranty was out, it started having problems where is stopped de-icing itself and a month after that stopped blowing cold. it was only $400 but would rather spend another $100 to have a longer lasting AC unit.
