Customer Questions & Answers

I need to know the amperage of this unit -please advise

I am using an electrician to install this unit and he advised that my current outlet is limited to 20 amps
Asked by: Rob
The LG 12,200 BTU Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner with 265-Volt Heating and Cooling requires either a Standard 265 volt grounding receptacle rated at 20 Amps or a standard 265 Volt grounding receptacle rated at 30 amps. Ask your electrician to look at the plug on the unit. If it has a NEMA Configuration of 7-20P, you will need to use a 20 AMP. time delay fuse or 20 AMP. Circuit breaker. If the plug has a NEMA Configuration of 7-30P you will need to use a 30 AMP. time delay fuse or a 30 AMP. circuit breaker. He will know what NEMA Configurations are. He can also check the electrical requirements that are stamped on the data compliance tag that is attached to the back or underside of the unit....^IFV

The question was still not answered---Does it require outside air???

Asked by: Mike
Mike, Pardon us for misunderstanding your question and not providing you with the answer you were seeking. Yes, the LG LP126CD3B 12,200 BTU Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner requires outside air. Outside Air is an integral part of the functioning of this unit. The most obvious reason being that like all other Air Conditioners that are always cycling internal air which becomes stale air after a while, you are going to need fresh air in the room and that is achieved by opening the vent. The other not so obvious reason being that the unit uses two separate units (Terminal Packages), an evaporative unit on the interior and a condensing unit on the exterior connected by tubing passing through he wall. Interior air is cooled as a fan blows it over the evaporator while on the exterior the air is heated as a second fan blows it over the condenser. In this process, heat is drawn from the room and discharged to the environment. Another intrinsic function outside air plays is for heating! Since this unit can be adapted to provide heating in cold weather, either directly by using an electric strip, gas or other heater, or by reversing the refrigerant flow to heat the interior and draw heat from the exterior air, it is crucial in converting the air conditioner into a heat pump. Hopefully, this answer satisfies your question...IFV

Does this require a fresh outdoor air intake or outdoor exhaust?

Asked by: Toodie
Hi Toodie, The LP126CD3B is a sophisticated piece of equipment and does feature Fresh Air Ventilation. The unit features a Vent Filter which is used to filter the air flowing in the room when Air Ventilation is performed by means of a ventilation lever. I hope this answers your question, but if you need a more descriptive answer on this, please contact Customer Service at (800)243-0000.
