Actually, there is no reason at all why you can not use a properly rated Appliance Extention cord with this unit. I use a Short overrated Appliance extension cord with mine and it works just fine.

Actually, there is no reason at all why you can not use a properly rated Appliance Extention cord with this unit. I use a Short overrated Appliance extension cord with mine and it works just fine.
If it is marked that way it is to keep common persons from using extension cords as a lot of people might use underrated cords with it. An underrated cord can cause a Fire that could result in serious injury or Death so be sure to use only short properly rated cords.
Also when I say short run of cord I mean <8 feet or <5 feet in 12 Ga or 10 Ga wire in the cord Also the cord needs also to say appliance Rated! If you need more cord than that you need to have a new outlet installed near the location you want to use the unit.
Never ever use a Power Strip or a longer cord! The Cord Must say Appliance rated and must be >12 or 10 Ga wire also check your cord often for overheating!
Attached are 2 Photos of Cord overheating and Fire due to an extension cord and or Power Strip use.
Never run an A/C off a power strip or a Long Utility Cord!
Here is an article on dangers of using Power Strips and Extention cords on A/C units http://patch.com/new-york/glencove/never-run-an-ac-off-a-power-strip-or-extension-cord

The LG 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat and Remote, Model # LP1415SHR will cool and area of up to 500 sq. ft. A room of 15 feet x 20 feet has a square footage of 300 square feet. 14,000 BTU is overkill and will not provide better cooling and will waste energy. The appropriate BTU rating for 300 square feet room is 8,000 BTU...^IFV

Answer:
The exhaust vent hose for the LG 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat and Remote, Model # LP1415SHR is 5 feet long but there aren't any extensions available for it. The length of the exhaust hose is specially designed to the product's specifications and cannot be replaced with your own longer hose nor can it be extended as that would cause the unit to malfunction...^IFV

Answer:
Yes. If you set the fan to AUTO the entire unit will shut down when temperature is reached. If the fan is set to ON the compressor will shut off and the fan will continue to circulate air.

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 42 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible unit - will leak large amnts water on floor I bought this unit around June 2016. Work well for a little over a month then did not cool as well, but was putting out some cold air. Noticed water on the floor Nd thought the drainage tube had come off. Clean up my hardwood and checked tubing. A few days later , same thing . Water damage to my floor as the wood is now buckling . Called LG support and they told me this was NORMAL!!!! Said I had to hook up a second drain hose that I could get at any hardware store . WRONG. Called support again. Said I had to special order it from them. Have to keep pan under unit because of large amounts of water leaking . Now has stopped cooling, still leaks, and sprays mist out the top. LG does not want to honor warranty . They try to make you trouble-shoot repeatedly and tell you it is normal for a portable ac unit to leak on your floor . Don't buy from LG. September 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's okay to use at home When I turn it on it's really loud but, it's really good to use it when you don't have a air conditioner at home. I hope the sound wasn't loud then it would be really nice to use at home. July 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase Difficult to assemble duct to the window but finally got it. Runs very quiet and cools extremely well. 1st portable a/c I've had. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Performance My house is a smallish vacation chalet and the LG cools the whole thing without having to install a central AC . This one also has heat but I haven't tried it yet. If it heats as well as it cools, I'll be tickled August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Still does not work Installed as stationary and somethings blowing hot air when set for cooling. Techs are came twice and that time it worked fine. Hot days is like in souna. Techs ordered new thermostat and new controller. Let's see then. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Brought home today...Taking back tomorrow Big waste of time and money! I bought this unit to make my 2 car garage a little more bearable in the summer. Unit cools for about 3 minutes then blows hot air. I played with it and found as long as you leave the exhaust vented back to the room it will cool. Only problem is you then have hot air blowing in the room. When hooked to the window adapter it starts blowing hot air within a few minutes. Even when hooked to the adapter with the hose stretched completely straight on the floor it will shut off. Some type of pressure sensor issue. When I contacted LG they said I bought too big of a unit and it was short cycling because it was cooling too fast. When I explained it was 105 in my garage while on the phone the representative changed the subject. Either way I will be returning it and not wasting any more time or money with an LG product. If The Home Depot values customer satisfaction they should hold their vendors to a standard that their product at least function. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KEPT GARAGE COOL EASY SET UP, USED IN GARAGE WHEN 100 OUTSIDE & IT MADE IT CONFORTABLE TO WORK IN AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR NEEDED TO COOL IT DOWN THEN IT KEPT IT CONFORTABLE AFTER THAT August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far, all is well. The air conditioner was easy to set up. We used it at our church . The fact that it is potable works for us. June 29, 2016
