Strange Odor

This question is from 2.3 cu. ft. Washer and Electric Ventless Dryer in Silver

Has anyone noticed a sort of rubbery or burnt odor in the clothes after a wash and dry cycle? Clothes don't seem over dry--if anything they come out steamy or damp-dry and dry in a few minutes later but the smell remains and is especially noticeable on bath towels. I have noticed this since the first load and thought maybe the rubber door gasket just needed time to off gas, but weeks later same thing. Any advice/feedback?

We regret to read about the issues that you are experiencing with your LG 2.3 cu. ft. Washer and Electric Ventless Dryer in Silver, Model # WM3477HS and apologize for any inconveniences. The causes for the "sort of rubbery or burnt odor" in your clothes will vary depending on when you smell them and you definitely should have the machine inspected. Try reducing the size of your loads, if the loads are too large, they may be putting a lot of stress on the motor which could lead to the motor burning out. Keep in mind that since the washing capacity is twice that of the drying capacity, that when drying your washing load, you should take half of the clothes out. Answer:
The unit has a high spin speed. That can create some vibration, thus they recommend that the unit be installed on concrete, if possible. Mine is in a third floor apartment. It works great, but it does shake the kitchen for a few minutes when it spins.

There are many different types of RVs available and you probably would need to get a washer dryer combo that is specifically designed for use in an RV. Fir that, you may want to contact your RV's manufacturer. The LG 2.3 cu. ft. Washer and Electric Ventless Dryer in White, Model WM3477HW is not designed for use in RV's. You may have to do some serious alterations to your RV to accommodate this unit. It uses more water than is specific to RV's so you might need water hookups and a sewer to use it. The water supply pressure must be between 20
psi and 120 psi (138 – 827 kPA) for this unit. If the water
supply pressure is more than 120 psi, a pressure reducing valve must be installed. Then there is the issue of electrical supply. The number of amperes that this unit will draw, 20 Amperes will not leave you with much room left for anything else in your RV. We are not experts on RV's, but those are just some of the issues you may run into and that you should look into in selecting a unit that is designed for use in an RV...^IFV

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 135 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific machine I have this in an rv and it will wash and dry 7 full sized towels nicely. Home depot guys delivered and put it in its place. Easy to use and does a great job washing clothes. Takes about 3.5 hours to wash a normal load of clothes. I set it in morning before I leave. Uses very little water and isn't loud. Will vibrate the coach on spin but it's a machine in a trailer so I expected it. The best part is you only load 1 machine 1 time to wash and dry. 2 machines seem like a waste compared to this beauty. Buy it, you won't regret it. May 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for our small apartment We used a similar product while living in Europe in the late 90's and have been waiting for them to become available in the states as a home unit rather than those for RVs or boats. We have only run about 10 loads so far ranging from normal shirts/pants to sheets/towels and even some baby clothes. Using the dryer sensor on normal rather than a timed dry, load times have run between 2 and 4 hours from start dirty to pull out clean and dry. The unit only requires a 20 amp breaker on 120 volt service so we were able to remove the old washer/dryer 240 volt service and use the freed up power overhead to swap our hot water tank for a tankless water heater. It took about 15 minutes to level the unit. We have not experienced any vibration or appliance creep (concrete floor) and have used the extra high spin speed for about half of our loads. We also checked with the neighbors below, above and next door and they have not heard or felt anything either. We have not yet used all of the available cycles so we did not rate the features a five. But the unit has been easy to customize settings per load and let us change wash times, temperatures, spin speeds, etc. from the selected cycle defaults. We have not had the unit long enough to rate the long term quality. The LG unit was not the least expensive combo available, but it has the largest capacity for the under counter space we had. It is working up to our expectations and we find it to be a tremendous value. We are looking forward to at least 7 years of trouble free service like we had from our previous unit (we had used other unit 7 years when we left Europe so we don't know how long it actually lasted after that). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for Condo Living We chose the smaller machine because the bigger unit says you would have to pull half of the wet cloths out before drying for all of the cloths to get dry. With that said this machine is the perfect size. We have 2 small laundry baskets... when one is full we throw in in for wash and dry.... We set the time delay at night, so it will be finished when we wake up. AMAZING FEATURE!!!! Even if I decide to hit snooze a few times the machine stays in "Cool Down" mode, and every few minutes it will toss the cloths so they don't get wrinkled. I have only used one wash setting so far, but so far so good. We have gained so much storage space without having 2 machines. This is an organizers dream! I love it! So happy with our purchase. Also delivery was quick and painless. Thanks Home Depot! February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great for small spaces... it's capacity is larger than I was expecting. yes, it really takes over 3 hours to cycle through, BUT it's like magic... you put in dirty clothes, and three hours later clean and dry clothes come out! outstanding for my tiny home and simplified life. happy. February 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst purchase I ever made. It may just be me but this washer takes like 5 hours to due one load and my cloths never get dry. unless there is one towel in there and it never get all the way dry. This is the biggest wast of money I have ever spent. If you buy this because it a space saver and they look nice you will be shocked how bad of an idea that was. I absolutely hate it worst washer and dryer I have ever had. November 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LG washer/dryer combo So far, I'm really pleased. Does a quality job washing - better than my previous Maytag... Love the "one-stop" wash/dry/done! October 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No problems The good news is that the machine works great. The clothes get clean. It is capable of washing even a large quilt, as long as I take it out and air-dry it. The bad news: Drying heavy items such as a load of jeans takes a very long time. The easiest way I found is to start this load in the evening, and it will be finished and dry in the morning. The vibration during the spin cycle shakes my third floor apartment, but it only lasts for a few minutes. I suspect that almost any washing machine would do the same thing. Overall, I am very pleased with this machine. June 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Space and Money Saver I purchased the LG 2.3 cubic ft washer and electric ventless dryer about 3 weeks ago. I am quite satisfied with the product. I replaced a 15 year old beast of a washer and dryer (vented) with this new unit. It freed up valuable storage space in my laundry room and is saving me money on water and electricity. I used similar units while stationed in Germany and got used to the longer wash cycles and how to tweak the various settings. If you don't know how to use certain features, you not only have the manual but can YouTube this unit and watch instructional videos. I looked up how to use the drying feature without the wash cycle on YouTube and it works....the LG manual tells you something snarky like, if you want to only dry something you should have purchased a separate washer and dryer...yeah, thanks for nothing LG on that one. It's a good purchase if you are single or a small family...would recommend the bigger capacity model for a family of more than 3 people. June 7, 2016
