Great question, very valid concern. I am 5'4 and have to lean over quite a bit to get to the bottom clothes. ( I look at it as a great stretching exercise). I touch the dial with my body but never turned anything on or off. I love this machine, it's stylish, quiet and has a cute little melody when it's done. Go for it.

Not a problem...during the wash you pause the machine to unlock the lid and the controls are disabled and they are also disabled when the cycle is finished. You can't accidently change the settings or start the machine by leaning over the controls...I'm short, I know.

Answer:
Yes, but the washing machine automatically turns itself off when the load is done. Also, even if it was on and you touched the controls, the pressure from your body is not enough to do anything. You need to push it with your finger. Nothing happens on the washer until you push the play button anyway, so you can press all of the buttons, but unless you shut the lid and press play- it won't do anything.

If it is off, it won't do anything because you have to turn on power to get it to do anything. So you can lean on it or climb in like I did until I had to get a stool to stand on to reach down into the giant stainless steel tub. LOVE IT! Read Less

Yes, I am 5'6" and still touch controls but they never get pushed per say because machine cuts off after load is complete and you have to push power button in order for other buttons to work. power button is to far to right for your body to touch. It also has a child lock feature that will not let you push any other buttons at all till you turn the child lock off.

Also, even though this machine is not on a pedestal like the front loading HEM's, it does have a deeper drum. I'm quite tall (5'10") and it's a bit of a reach for me - but not uncomfortable. If I had to lean down to unload a front loader, it would make my back hurt a lot!

It depends on how tall you are- I'm 5 foot even and my body does touch the controls although they have never been activated this way. I've started using a step stool to make getting the last of the clothes out easier and this also solved the body touching controls issue as well.

Answer:
The number of prongs depends on your outlet. Dryer cords come in 3 or 4 prong and lengths of 4 and 6 feet, both are 220. My dryer is actually connected with a 3 prong range cord because of the outlet, but this is acceptable and does not make a difference in the performance of the dryer. But because of the voltage you cannot put a dryer cord on a range.

One of the most common misconceptions in washers today is that clothes need to be fully submerged in water to get clean. These machines use clothes on clothes friction to clean. Just like when little Bobby comes home with a fresh grass stained shirt. The best way to remove this stain in days of old was to take the item to the sink. lightly wet the effected area. little soap (key word little). and rub the stain effected area with another piece of the garment. The washers today use this concept. when we over fill water because we feel there isn't enough water, we change the machines ability to wash. we can take away some of the ability for these clothes to bump and rub each other. A front load washer does the same thing. It just has gravity to assist in the process. LG has been making very competent machines in this market for many years. Read Less

Jake,
Thank you for your inquiry!
With the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High-Efficiency Front Control Top Load Washer, Model # WT1101CW it is not that you cannot select the water level. Each cycle has preset settings that can be selected automatically or you may also customize the settings using the cycle setting buttons by pressing the button for that option to view and select other settings. The washer automatically adjusts the water level for the type and size of wash load for best results and maximum efficiency. It may seem there is no water inside the drum in some cycles, but this is normal!...IFV

Customer Reviews

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy - NEGATIVE STARS I almost never write reviews but I'll keep this one short and sweet. Plain and simple: the machine makes your clothes dirty. The residue of past washes stays in the machine and expels a dirt/dust onto every wash. It's filthy and causes more work because I have to spot handwash after every use. I can't wash black clothes whatsoever without putting visible dirt spots onto them. It's gross. Customer service refuses to remedy the situation and says that it's MY responsibility to deal with the problem. Thanks LG! June 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Review after 2 1/2 years of use I purchased this washer and the matching dryer 11/11/13. I just spent $260.75 on 4-1-16, to replace the control board. The washer kept indicating it was unbalanced. I called LG and they did the smartdiagnosis with the phone - which sounded like a fax signal, they told me there was nothing wrong. The machine would start but when it came to rinse it would be "unbalanced" and not continue. I don't feel after 2 1/2 years the main control board should be gone. I have to say I haven't been happy with the machine. It doesn't clean my clothes like the old ones with a center agitator. I understand it's HE but when most of my clothes are not in water, I feel like they are not getting clean. Watching it work through the glass window you can see how low the water level is in the tub. If you are short in height, don't even think about getting this machine. I'm 5'7 and I have to stand on my toes to retrieve the socks in the tub. I do think it does a good job on gently cycle and bulky items but for the normal loads it doesn't seem to get my clothes clean. I still find some items need to be washed twice. April 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BROKE AFTER 2 YEARS!! I did a lot of research before buying a wash machine. This one was pricey, but it got good reviews so I decided the extra cost would be worth it. It worked fine at first, but then I began to notice that clothes that was visibly dirty didn't come all the way clean. Another frustrating aspect was that more and more often, I would get the "unbalanced load" error. No matter how much I concentrated on arranging the clothes evenly, I'd end up with with that error message once every handful of loads. The worst part about the wash machine was that it STOPPED WORKING after 2 years and 3 months. We got the "EO" error message, which means the hose is blocked or kinked. The water would not drain. We brought the pump to an appliance shop and they said it was working fine. My husband called LG and they said it would be $200 just to come out and look at it. It makes me so mad that we could spend so much money on a reputable item, and the company doesn't even provide good customer service. July 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Might be a mistake I've had the washer 7 months and it leaks into the tub continuously. Not a small, annoying leak, I'm talking about 6" to 8" in the bottom of the tub if I don't empty it out every day (spin cycle). I've used the service request feature on the LG website and get goofy emails back telling me how to use detergent;maybe I'm using too much detergent ( I use HE pods, kinda hard to add too much with one of those). They want a copy of my receipt; no problem EXCEPT there is no way to attach the receipt to their email. I have to submit ANOTHER repair request that does not allow me to attach the receipt. Surely this can't drag on much longer..... April 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best washer I have ever owned I hit the jackpot - this washer is the best I have ever owned. It doesn't have an agitator so it doesn't damage clothes. The price was fantastic. I highly recommend. July 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER Worked great for 2 years. Currently it doesn't matter what size load, cycle, spin setting it thinks it's off-balance at the same place/time during cycle. LG customer service suggests I call for service. From other reviews on here, it's a common problem. The 1 star in the overall rating is pushing it. July 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Pump Home Depot Delivery and installation was perfect. LG drain pump failed with a hole after 8 months of average use. Not a huge deal, but LG service center is awful. Iwas told I would get a call to set up service and did not. Called again and after 1 week I have not been able to even set up service call. No help at service center from my experience. July 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Year Old Machine Leaves Rust Streaks on Clothes I did some due diligence and read reviews about this machine before purchasing-- it got good reviews at the time. While I will only occasionally have unbalanced load issues, most often with bulky items, I have started having rust streaks on my light colored clothes in the past couple months. I leave it with the lid open when not in use and I do run the tub clean cycle. Unacceptable at any price. June 28, 2016
