I've owned this washer for 7 months now and I'm finally getting the hang of it. I hated it at first and considered returning it but for what, all machines are heading this way. It definitely uses less water per load and I don't like the fact that I can't choose the water setting but that's why it's HE. I started out washing everything on the bulky bedding setting to fill the tub but noticed the clothes would not get clean. This is because the agitation is only on the very bottom of the machine, so if your clothes are floating on top then they do not get washed. You need less water so the clothes are its own agitator. A tip to trick the machine if you feel better having more water in the tub is to add a 1/2 -1 gallon of water on top of each load (depending on the size) and let it soak up for a minute before turning on the washer. It will sense the load and with the extra water weight it will add more water thinking it's a larger load. Be careful though, if you add too much water it will fill to the top and your clothes will soak not wash. Using the pure color setting also seems to have more water per load. Maybe because it doesn't want the clothes rubbing together and fading the color. It also seemed to get unbalanced easily but the trick to that is to wash only similar weighted items when wet together. For example, don't put sweatpants in with t-shirts because when wet the sweatpants are significantly heavier than a t-shirt so it could result in an unbalanced load. I have found that sorting properly is the best way to get this machine to work best. I sort as follows- towels on normal setting, jeans on pure color setting, casual pants (khakis), socks and underwear on heavy duty setting, workout clothes on normal setting, and t-shirts and blouses on normal setting. I also adjust soil level to heavy on every cycle since without an agitator it is impossible to damage clothes. I do not use bleach and our clothes are very clean. I live in a house with one adult male, 2 teenage boys, and 3 dogs. Wisk detergent works great with this washer! Hope this helps!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shawns2k Best Washer I have ever had
We ordered both the washer and dryer online after my dryer went out on us. I have to say that I am very impressed. The washer has been a dream to use. It is very user friendly, super quiet, cleans very well, and after the spin cycle the clothes are pretty much dry and only need minimum time in the dryer.
I will add one of the reasons I bought these is due to quality of build. I am an aeronautical engineer and I look at quality of things with extra scrutiny. The hinges are beefy. The motor is strong and comes with a great warranty. I also love the flat tops on these washer and dryer. The only problem I have found with these is while folding clothes, since it is flat sometimes clothes fall behind the units. The fix was easy since I started folding my clothes on the folding table...lol.
Put this product in the mix if you are considering new units.

I purchased this machine from Home Depot on the basis of good reviews and LG reputation. I liked the features and the huge load capacity of the machine. Besides, the front control panel and overall design was pretty cool, too.
Following delivery, I did a week's worth of laundry with the machine. Do be aware that you cannot pull the liquid fabric softener drawer all of the way out to fill, as a hole in the bottom for dispensing will be open and the softener will run out. I used dry detergent for the wash. During operation, the machine was quiet, and got my clothes and bedding nice and clean.
However, when I went to do a load of laundry 4 days later, the machine gave me an "E6" message after balancing the load. According to the manual, this is a clutch problem, and required a call to LG.
To make a long story short, LG referred me to 3 different warranty repair companies locally. The first one was no longer contracted with LG to do warranty repairs on washing machines. The second repair company was contracted to do warranty work for LG, but that work was restricted to microwaves. The third service came to my house over a week ago, needed to order parts and returned 2 days ago. He inserted the new part, but got the same message. He talked with 3 LG repair team people and was told it was likely the motherboard in the machine's computer, meaning a wait of 5-7 days for the new part.
Presently, the machine is sitting in my laundry room, and remains inoperable. It has been a month since the machine worked, and will likely now be much longer.
The store where I bought the machine is aware of my difficulties, and have been working with me. I did purchase a 5 year insurance plan with Home Depot, and have been working with them since the beginning, but they have to work with LG to get anything done, and have to wait for service reports to make any moves to replace the machine.
Last evening, I returned to the store. The supervisor there is very much aware of the issues I have had with the machine and the service issues with LG, and will be refunding the entire price of purchase, picking the machine up and replacing it with a machine of my choosing. I will not be buying a LG machine again. I am still waiting to hear what LG tells the insurance plan reps!
Bottom line for me, is that I need a working machine. I haven't had a working machine for a month, and am tired of the run-around that is LG warranty repair service. LG can repair their faulty machine in their own garage-not mine!

I read the many reviews prior to purchasing this washing machine. I was humored by the reviews from vertically challenged folks who had to use a ladder to get the clothes from the bottom. So very true! I'm 5'3" and I use a grabber to get the clothes out!!! Haven't had any issues. The delivery folks were awesome and leveled the machine and gave me some helpful hints. Excellent experience all around and no issues in the 3 weeks I've had the machine.

I absolutely love this machine! I've had it for a month. I was hesitant about the size, only because there are bigger ones, but the drum is enormous! It easily fits my king size sheets, pillow cases and bath sheets, and there is space for more. I'm down about 2 loads a week, and look for stuff to wash now. The machine is SO quiet, I honestly forget its even on. My machines are right outside my kids bedrooms, so I used to plan washing around naps, and never wash at night once the kids were in bed, but not anymore! I had previously read reviews about the machines spinning off balance, it happened with my first load of towels, and the machine immediately stopped spinning, filled up with water, and was able to rebalance the load. I was extremely impressed! I also purchased the dryer, so far, very happy. I have no problem fitting all the wet clothes into the dryer. I was after machines that have simple features, and to me, these were the most basic, yet sophisticated machines I could find. Overall, I am a very happy customer!

I bought this washer after the basic Whirlpool washer I had went out for the second time. Honestly it could have been repaired but I wanted to give a high efficiency washer a try in hopes of reducing utility bills. I picked this model because of all the favorable reviews and so far I love it. A regular washer is fine but I have to admit that the front controls, electronic buttons and beeps, soft close lid, etc. make this seem so much more modern and advanced.
Some of the highlights about this washer are:
- Tons of washing options
- It's extremely quiet
- Very large capacity (I have yet to have a load that's too big)
- Can put fabric softener in at the beginning
- Stainless steel drum
When the washer and dryer were delivered, one of the delivery guys explained the importance of correctly loading the washer. He said that you should load the washer as if there is an agitator in the center. He said that when he has to pick up washers that people want to return, 99% of the time it's because of balance issues. I have yet to have a single balance issue following his instructions.
Switching to a high efficiency washers takes a little adjustment. It's seems at times that the washer is not using enough water but that's the point. The cycles are longer but you can wash more with each load. One of the best things about this washer is the spin cycle. The spin cycles are longer and much faster so the dryer gets the job done much faster. I've received one water bill since buying this washer. It was a few dollars less and that was with a 5.1% rate increase so I feel this was an excellent purchase.

The cycle selections are very user friendly! I absolutely do not miss the agitator that I had with my old machine that made me think someone was tearing down walls if the load was too heavy! The machine is so quiet that you just don't hear it running at all, unless you're in the same room with it. The wash cycles are longer but I don't mind that because the spin cycle is so effective that my drying time is definitely cut in half! I love that I have very little to think about when washing clothes because most of the guess work has been eliminated! Even though the unit is larger than my previous machine, the sleek design makes it look like I have more room!
