Is shaking normal for an HE washer?

I just got this washer - it was delivered Saturday. It's doing well so far. I've never had or used an HE washer before so I'm not sure if all the shaking is the norm for it. During the spin cycle the entire machine shakes. Setting it on a medium instead of high spin reduced the shaking somewhat. Is it normal for an HE machine to shake like that during spin?
Asked by: Lois
There may be some vibration during a spin cycle, and you describe "shaking". If your previous machine was a top-loader and didn't shake as much, you might want to make sure whomever installed the machine got it level within reason, and also if ALL of the shipping screws and materials were removed.

I am a seamstress and I use my washer to dye cothes.

To do that, I need to periodically open the lid many times to see if the clothes have dyed to the right color, and if not, close the lid and continue the cycle without the water draining our of the tub. Can I do that with this washer, and if so, how do I do it?
Asked by: Catjoydavis
The Energy Star Certified LG 4.1 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Front Control Top Load Washer in White, Model # WT1101CW has a START/PAUSE BUTTON which can be pressed to START the selected cycle. If the washer is running, you can use this button to PAUSE the cycle without losing the current settings but if you do not press the START/PAUSE button within 4 minutes of selecting a cycle, the washer automatically turns off. If the washer remains idle for 8 minutes after pausing the cycle, the water in the tub will drain...^IFV

How are is the back of the machine to hinge

Hi, Could anyone tell me, from the back of the machine (on top), how many inches is it to the hinge of the door? I have upper cabinets and usually the controls were in that space and the top load compartment was further up on the machine. I have to figure out how many inches that hinge is from the back or I won't be able to open the glass loading lid! Thanks!!!!
Asked by: talkstoself
Thanks LG, but that wasn't what I was asking. I finally found a floor model at another retailer and measured it. There is 7" from back of machine to the hinge of the glass door.

Is there an issue with the lid lock? I have a Maytag which has a lid lock that has been screwy ever since I got it. .. Had to see about disconnecting

Has there been an issue with the lid lock on this model? I realize it is there for safety reasons however I do not want to have to deal with the lid lock coming off in the middle of a wash and having to turn off and turn back on and restart- Just wondering -Thanks for your answers.

Do you have this one in stock and how guick for delivery Perri's and Iris store

Asked by: Pammieel123
Hi Pammieel123, this particular washer is an online exclusive item and comes directly from the vendor's inventory where it is delivered to you directly and does not come from a local Home Depot store nor can it be delivered to a Home Depot store as this is delivered by a home delivery company. Most Home Depot stores do possess an appliance showroom however it is not guaranteed that this item will be present as the stock varies between stores. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

Is this large enough to wash a king size comforter?

Asked by: Anonymous
Absolutely. My king size comforter takes up only about half of the tub. It's not so much that the tub is huge. It's that there is so much more space for clothes without the agitator.

Customer Reviews

4.1 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Front Control Top Load Washer in White, ENERGY STAR is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1557.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Perfect example of scrap I've had this washer and accompanying dryer for 3 years. The dryer is wonderful and I have no complaints. The washer is incapable of washing without becoming "uneven". We have tried as suggested by placing clothing by weight around the drum like a donut, small/large loads, making sure the washer is level and nothing works. I despise this washer so much that I am considering taking it somewhere to have it crushed because I could not in good conscience sell it or give it to another person. I feel taken advantage of for spending the amount of money that I did on this piece of garbage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Don't buy it unless you want to "babysit" it constantly to make sure the load of any size is not "uneven". It either constantly adds more water (some "water-saving" feature) and attempts to rebalance (usually fails) or it just stops and blinks on the control panel "UE" for uneven load. The cycle times can take up to 100% longer than the original time for the cycle. This product should never have been allowed on the market (nor the same type from other brands from what I've heard from other owners). Have had the washer since 2/20/2014, purchased and delivered by Home Depot. Extremely disappointed with this washer--no way it met my expectations. Would only buy the old tried and true washer with a real agitator or a front-loading type after this very bad experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful We purchased this unit and matching dryer about 3 years ago. The large capacity and 10 year drum warranty attracted me to this model. However this is THE worst washer I've ever had. The cycles are insanely long. And regardless of the amount of clothing you put in it the machine gives a "UE" error code and stops. You have to then readjust everything and restart it. You then get to do the same thing again about 4 minutes later. I should have never purchased the LG given the experience I had with their phones. I will not purchase another product from them again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Runs constantly with error code I have had this washer coming up on 4 years and within the last month it will not run through a full cycle. It constantly reads UE and no amount of adjusting or different size loads helps, this even happens during the Tub Cleaning cycle. We've tried resetting the washer and it makes no difference. I'm very upset with this washer. These products are built to break. The computers fail which causes them to be inefficient and worthless without spending a pile more on an extended warranty. Money, utility, and time wasters. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not Spin or clean I can only use Heavy duty cycle so I can select slow spin. The machine will continually be unbalanced. I sort my laundry and only wash like items because the machine is such a pile. The washer is level and stable but unless you catch it it will try to unbalance itself and end up using 10 times the amount of water it saved. I should have purchased an old style top load with an agitator. My soap and water usage is way higher than the older style and the machine was 3 times the cost. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk! I bought this machine less than 3 years ago. If you had asked me a month ago how I felt about it, I would have given it 5 stars. But then the dreaded UE code started to appear multiple times in every wash load. It even appeared when the tub was empty in a Tub Clean cycle! How can the load be UnEven when there is no load? I have googled this problem and found out it is quite common and difficult/expensive to fix. It takes HOURS to complete one load. Sometimes I just give up and hand wring the wet clothes (the UE always appears during the rinse/spin cycle) and put them in the dryer. I have also shut off the power and restarted the machine in the Spin Only cycle. Don't know how much longer I can handle this before buying a new one. Not happy with LG. Rated 1 out of 5 by from throw your money away, it'll be more rewarding I've had this machine for 2 years. It cannot balance even the lightest of loads. Constantly refills & ends with the same "UE" indicator. I've never been more frustrated with a product or displeased with a brand in my entire life. I'm typing this review while standing over the unit waiting 1 blanket to finish its 3 hour cycle. I literally have to ring out my clothes by hand before putting them in the dryer. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst appliance we've ever owned. An absolute nightmare. This machine can't do a basic load of wash without unbalancing. I wouldn't mind if it would just stop, but it tries to fix itself by re-filling and re-filling and re-filling.... It sucks water and electricity like a monster. After two years of this, my wife wants to take it to the dump. What a waste of $$$. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
