Great question, very valid concern. I am 5'4 and have to lean over quite a bit to get to the bottom clothes. ( I look at it as a great stretching exercise). I touch the dial with my body but never turned anything on or off. I love this machine, it's stylish, quiet and has a cute little melody when it's done. Go for it.

Not a problem...during the wash you pause the machine to unlock the lid and the controls are disabled and they are also disabled when the cycle is finished. You can't accidently change the settings or start the machine by leaning over the controls...I'm short, I know.

Yes, but the washing machine automatically turns itself off when the load is done. Also, even if it was on and you touched the controls, the pressure from your body is not enough to do anything. You need to push it with your finger. Nothing happens on the washer until you push the play button anyway, so you can press all of the buttons, but unless you shut the lid and press play- it won't do anything.

If it is off, it won't do anything because you have to turn on power to get it to do anything. So you can lean on it or climb in like I did until I had to get a stool to stand on to reach down into the giant stainless steel tub. LOVE IT! Read Less

Yes, I am 5'6" and still touch controls but they never get pushed per say because machine cuts off after load is complete and you have to push power button in order for other buttons to work. power button is to far to right for your body to touch. It also has a child lock feature that will not let you push any other buttons at all till you turn the child lock off.

Also, even though this machine is not on a pedestal like the front loading HEM's, it does have a deeper drum. I'm quite tall (5'10") and it's a bit of a reach for me - but not uncomfortable. If I had to lean down to unload a front loader, it would make my back hurt a lot!

It depends on how tall you are- I'm 5 foot even and my body does touch the controls although they have never been activated this way. I've started using a step stool to make getting the last of the clothes out easier and this also solved the body touching controls issue as well.

Answer:
The number of prongs depends on your outlet. Dryer cords come in 3 or 4 prong and lengths of 4 and 6 feet, both are 220. My dryer is actually connected with a 3 prong range cord because of the outlet, but this is acceptable and does not make a difference in the performance of the dryer. But because of the voltage you cannot put a dryer cord on a range.

One of the most common misconceptions in washers today is that clothes need to be fully submerged in water to get clean. These machines use clothes on clothes friction to clean. Just like when little Bobby comes home with a fresh grass stained shirt. The best way to remove this stain in days of old was to take the item to the sink. lightly wet the effected area. little soap (key word little). and rub the stain effected area with another piece of the garment. The washers today use this concept. when we over fill water because we feel there isn't enough water, we change the machines ability to wash. we can take away some of the ability for these clothes to bump and rub each other. A front load washer does the same thing. It just has gravity to assist in the process. LG has been making very competent machines in this market for many years. Read Less

4.1 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Front Control Top Load Washer in White, ENERGY STAR is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 1548.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay but not great Water level doesn't cover all the laundry in the load. Action does not move clothes around enough to get the articles on top into the soapy water below. Cycles are very long. Since most of our laundry is not overly dirty it does seem to get clean. Don't like front controls as difficult to keep dirt and water from falling on the controls. Front controls were advertised as advantage for short people, but actually makes it more of a stretch to retrieve articles from the bottom of the washer as have to lean over the control area. Bleach dispenser also in position where dirt and water can easily fall into it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This will Help if you have Unbalanced errors OK , I had the same unbalanced load error problem that develop after one year of not having issues with my LG washer. For the last month it took me over 3 hours to do a load because of unbalanced load issues. I then googled this and realized how many more people had the same issues and I asked why I bought this washer with so many problems reported. So I reread the owners manual and decided to level the washer as instructed in the manual from side to side and front and back. I then watched a tutorial on LG's website on how to load the washer and another on how the machine operates, thus I was able to understand loading the machine with heavy things first was so important. They also had tips on zippering your pant up and other ideas to help the machine do its job. I then pushed my washer up tight to the wall and put the dryer right next to it so it created a tight fit.. I then proceeded to do six loads and have had no issue with the unbalanced load error coming up. I hope this may eliminate a service call for other people and now I am once again a fan of my LG washer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Babysitting Job Is Tiresome Coming up on our third anniversary with this washer, I must say my wife and I are very upset and frustrated by it's performance. From the beginning, this machine would constantly flash the UE code and despite consulting the trouble shooting guide and rearranging the load, it continues to occur, sometimes 4-5 times per load. This unit also repeats the rinse cycle multiple times throughout the load. I has reached the point where a wash and dry takes 3-4 hours, unless we stand by its side to prevent another rinse cycle. Overall this is product is nothing but exasperating. We are considering replacing it with another companies product. We also feel compensation is in order for our time and trouble. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not Spin or clean I can only use Heavy duty cycle so I can select slow spin. The machine will continually be unbalanced. I sort my laundry and only wash like items because the machine is such a pile. The washer is level and stable but unless you catch it it will try to unbalance itself and end up using 10 times the amount of water it saved. I should have purchased an old style top load with an agitator. My soap and water usage is way higher than the older style and the machine was 3 times the cost. Rated 1 out of 5 by from I absolutely HATE this product. Don't buy it unless you want to "babysit" it constantly to make ... I absolutely HATE this product. Don't buy it unless you want to "babysit" it constantly to make sure the load of any size is not "uneven". It either constantly adds more water (some "water-saving" feature) and attempts to rebalance (usually fails) or it just stops and blinks on the control panel "UE" for uneven load. The cycle times can take up to 100% longer than the original time for the cycle. This product should never have been allowed on the market (nor the same type from other brands from what I've heard from other owners). Have had the washer since 2/20/2014, purchased and delivered by Home Depot. Extremely disappointed with this washer--no way it met my expectations. Would only buy the old tried and true washer with a real agitator or a front-loading type after this very bad experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from throw your money away, it'll be more rewarding I've had this machine for 2 years. It cannot balance even the lightest of loads. Constantly refills & ends with the same "UE" indicator. I've never been more frustrated with a product or displeased with a brand in my entire life. I'm typing this review while standing over the unit waiting 1 blanket to finish its 3 hour cycle. I literally have to ring out my clothes by hand before putting them in the dryer. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet We bought this just over 2 months ago and we amazed by its efficiency. Clothes are clean and almost dry when taken out. There are times that we must check to see if it is actually running as it is so quiet. If you are looking for a GREAT washer, not just a good one this is what you should be considering. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frequently stops due to unbalanced load We have had this machine for nearly two years and it has been a disaster. Anytime we include towels or cotton bedding or anything that tends to be heavy when wet, the machine unevenly distributes them repeatedly. We have to remove each item and manually redistribute them. Not worth buying. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
