We're a 65 year old couple who have raised two kids and been through many washers in our day. This machine is BY FAR the best we've ever had. Easy to use. Large capacity. Clear, simple controls. Simply put, it works. (our previous machine was a front loader Whirlpool which was an abject piece of you-know-what).

Bought this online at Home Depot about a year ago. Gets unbalanced load every couple minutes. Redistributing clothes does not help. What is worse is the Unbalanced indicator goes on even when it generates sufficient spin speed and then unit comes to a halt. I got other things to do, and I cannot babysit this. I am going to get rid of this and buy another brand, this time probably a front load. The price I paid goes down the drain.

There is no agitation. The whites are now brown(I purchased this piece of garbage in Feb. of 2014). Towels smell. Nothing comes out clean. I kept thinking it's just my imagination, until I spoke with another owner!

We have had this washer for a little less than two years now and It is already broke down. The control panel on the top now will only start and stop the machine. All buttons work only as a start or stop now. And the start/pause button does not work at all. Washer looks brand new and will no longer work. So frustrating to spend so much hard earned money on an appliance that only last 20 months. Also we had multiple unbalanced load errors before all of these control panel issues came about. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Do not buy LG

We purchased this washing machine from Home Depot two years ago during a Labor Day sale. Almost a year to the day, the right side hinge on the lid started cracking apart. With each load of laundry we did, more and more plastic from the hinge would fall into the barrel. This was with completely normal use. Nothing was stored over the machine, nothing fell on it, no one ever sat on it. I contacted LG and they told me that the machine was out of the one year warranty window and they wouldn't help me. I contacted a LG repairman who replaced the lid for about half the cost of the washer. Another year passes and the new lid is doing the same thing! It makes no sense to replace the lid a second time given the cost. I'm a few weeks away from having to replace the washer since the lid has to be held in place for the door lock to work and this is becoming a challenging task as the hinge breaks apart further. Needless to say, there is no way I would ever consider another LG. One more thing to note- this washer has an extremely long cycle time. A normal load starts at 57 minutes, but it adds on time as the load washes. By the end, the load time is over 75 minutes. Very frustrating.

I purchased this washer and the matching dryer 11/11/13. I just spent $260.75 on 4-1-16, to replace the control board. The washer kept indicating it was unbalanced. I called LG and they did the smartdiagnosis with the phone - which sounded like a fax signal, they told me there was nothing wrong. The machine would start but when it came to rinse it would be "unbalanced" and not continue. I don't feel after 2 1/2 years the main control board should be gone. I have to say I haven't been happy with the machine. It doesn't clean my clothes like the old ones with a center agitator. I understand it's HE but when most of my clothes are not in water, I feel like they are not getting clean. Watching it work through the glass window you can see how low the water level is in the tub. If you are short in height, don't even think about getting this machine. I'm 5'7 and I have to stand on my toes to retrieve the socks in the tub. I do think it does a good job on gently cycle and bulky items but for the normal loads it doesn't seem to get my clothes clean. I still find some items need to be washed twice.

My wife bought this thing after reading the good reviews, I told her that companies pad their products with good reviews, always read the bad reviews. This is hands down the worst wash machine I have ever seen and we've had this thing about 2 years bottom line, it just doesn't wash clothes clean. Look, I was concerned when it was delivered because it doesn't have an agitator in it like most uprights have. I know they claim it's got this new technology that's been tested for years but I honestly don't know what they tested it on. The clothes just don't get agitated with any degree of force whatsoever. Clothes don't come out smelling fresh they smell as if only 70 or 80 percent of body sweat has been washed out of them. I end up doing small loads to get my clothes to pass for kinda clean. So yes I'm going to get rid of this piece of junk and buy a wash machine that has an agitator. Don't let a salesman tell you there's something wrong with my machine, there's nothing wrong, it works the way it was designed which is extremely subpar. I know this was a rant but I hope I can save someone from making the same mistake, buy something else. I've never wrote a review before, I wrote this one because I am that upset with this machine and no I didn't take it out on my wife or blame her, it was my fault for not being more involved in the beginning.

I almost never write reviews but I'll keep this one short and sweet. Plain and simple: the machine makes your clothes dirty. The residue of past washes stays in the machine and expels a dirt/dust onto every wash. It's filthy and causes more work because I have to spot handwash after every use. I can't wash black clothes whatsoever without putting visible dirt spots onto them. It's gross. Customer service refuses to remedy the situation and says that it's MY responsibility to deal with the problem. Thanks LG!
