Well, yes and no.
If the load is badly unbalanced the machine will automatically stop and you'll get a UE on the display, which indicates an Unbalancing Error of some sort.
However, if the load is not too badly unbalanced, you'll simply hear a thumping noise as the load continues through its cycles. This thumping noise indicates that the load is out of balance, but the machine will not Read More
Well, yes and no.
If the load is badly unbalanced the machine will automatically stop and you'll get a UE on the display, which indicates an Unbalancing Error of some sort.
However, if the load is not too badly unbalanced, you'll simply hear a thumping noise as the load continues through its cycles. This thumping noise indicates that the load is out of balance, but the machine will not necessarily stop. It will continue to wash, rinse and spin through the end of the cycle. However, if you hear this noise it would be best for you to stop the machine yourself and balance the load before it finishes. Read Less

I tried to set it as the manual suggests but it seems like it has to be set each time you wash. The next time I washed it went back to no light on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG FRONT LOAD 4.5 cubic feet model 4270 Just want to add that this LG have integrated WIFI to your smartphone ON Samsung you need to purchase separately USB WIFI stick from Samsung site only for ~ 30 $ This LG is quiet, washing quality is very good, got steam, Internal LED Light (very handy) I don't use the Turbo wash, I prefer quality wash Operating noise is similar to light rain sound (~40 dB) No issues with spin misbalanced Got internal heater If not in use then I always keep the doors open (detergent and Glass doors), so no mildew/smell issues It's compatible with pedestal/little washer (aka Sidekick) Home Depot .com gives you good Customer Service

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, efficient washer For a standard-width washer, this is about as good as it gets. One step below is actually probably the way to go, but for something you're going to keep for a long time, I figured the extra bump up to this model for NFC or whatnot was a trivial expense over so many years. Quiet, very water efficient, cycle times with Turbowash are quite good. Just remember that with any washer (but especially front loaders!) crack the door open for an hour or two or three so it can dry out inside, and sometimes a bit of water (sometimes soapy) can remain at the bottom of the door seal. I keep an old small towel around to wipe it up. I'm sure newer models are even more efficient, but no complaints about this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quite and high quality machine This machine is quite and smart. My new LG machine has a direct drive motor that is super smooth, quite and almost vibration free. It measures the amount of clothes to be wash and determines how much water and how fast the whole cycle will take. In Turbo mode, I can get a load done in a little over 1/2 hour. After the super fast spin cycle, the clothes comes out almost dry so the dryer time is much quicker than from my whole machine. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Third LG Washer & Dryer set I bought and returned two sets of washers and dryers from Samsung before I finally purchased and kept an LG set six years ago. I sold that house and bought another in 2013 and looked exclusively at LG, which I purchased. May of this year I bought another house and therefore purchased my third LG washer and dryer set. All 3 sets were similar - front loaders with steam. I have never had any trouble with any of them and have been very pleased. I like how you can just hit the power button, then start without having to select a mode - quick and convenient. These things are of course overkill for just my wife and I, however we can do just one big load a week. I prefer to run them without the energy savings mode on because they take less time. The only negative is that you have to turn it off each time you run a load - of course I have not read the instructions, it may be possible to program it to start in standard mode instead.

It is easy to use and seems to be of high quality. I expect many years of laundry from this machine, and savings on my electricity bill as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Washer and Dryer Really happy with this purchase. The washer works great, clothes come out and barely need to be dried! It has plenty of different settings for all types and I believe it weighs the load so it adjusts the wash time. Most regular washes (cotton) are finished in under 30minutes! My only gripe are the buttons on the front feel a little cheap. I would also allow for time for delivery - we booked a Saturday delivery/install and they had to reschedule (I don't know how many times delivery people have told me their truck has broken down - I don't believe the excuse anymore! haha!). Tip: Make sure to leave the washer door open after you've finished using. It takes about 12hrs for the inside rubber to dry otherwise there will definitely be a build up of mold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 4.5 front load washer I'm comparing LG versus Samsung, both 4.5 front load LG 4.5 washer a little bit easier to understand and operate than Samsung 4.5 washer The wash quality on both about same=very good Samsung a little bit more quieter than LG (all modes) LG little bit easier to load/unload Samsung about 35 pounds more heavier Samsung dry/spin little bit better than Samsung Both are very good brands for me LG have internal light , steam Both costs about the same price at Home Depot Home Depot customer service is better than Lowe's

I've only had one error message & that's when i was washing rugs & had unbalanced load- it wouldn't spin them to get most of water out. Overall so far i love it!!!
