I had just purchased a GE top loader only about three years ago, and it died. Not only that, but it was small. I could force a king size comforter in it, but it could hardly handle it and it barely cleaned the soap out. This 5.0 LG is huge. Not only will it take a king size comforter, but there is room left over. It analyzes the load before it adds water to determine how heavy it is, or to balance it. (It spins a bit before water). Many different options. Glass door allows you to see what's happening. Plus this is by far the quietest washer I've ever had. It's off our TV room and we no longer need to crank the volume when it's both TV night and laundry night. And I'm sold on LG. Bought a fridge, stove, dishwasher, and now clothes washer. Great products.

I bought this top loader about a month ago to replace my HE Front Load GE Washer and I can tell you the difference is like night and day. The clothes are actually getting washed in this and they come out looking like new (ok that was a stretch but you get the point). There are several neat features about this machine. The one I like the most is that it calculates how much water the machine needs based on the load sensing feature. You can also manually select to add extra water by clicking the 'WATER PLUS' cycle. Also there is a soak cycle (this one sold me), which lets your clothes soak in soapy water for 30 mins (which helps loosen the stains) before starting with the wash cycle. I can wash king size bedding with ease with extra room to spare. The capacity of the machine is amazing; it balances the load extremely well during spin cycle, the clothes come out almost dry and is much quieter. My older machine would vibrate all around the room and I feared it would damage my floor and walls. I have no such issues with this. I did some research before buying this machine and I couldn't find many reviews, even consumer report has not yet tested this machine. I guess I took a calculated risk knowing the fact that CR ranks other smaller size top loading washer in top 4 spots. Also the brand reliability index is #1. The user reviews were mixed as always, some people do get unlucky with lemons. I for once have to knock on wood and call this a good buy considering it has only been a month. I did however buy 3 year extended warranty from Home Depot for a piece of mind. I found Home Depot prices to be very competitive (it was also memorial day sales event) and the extended warranty prices are the cheapest in the market. Also since I didn't care much about color of the washer, I saved another $100 bill by buying it in white. Its not like my washer is going to be a centerpiece in the living room!!!!!

When this new washing machine arrived, it was fun just watching how it works. Very impressive machine. Like other reviews said before I bought it, it has plenty of space for large king size comforters, and washes everything super easy. Excellent investment.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Lisa I LOVE this machine!!!
I waited a few months before writing a review for this washing machine to make sure I really could give a solid critique. I mean, who doesn't love a brand new machine in the beginning? Anyway, I LOVE it & highly recommend it. I had a top loading regular machine before with an agitator. I know several people with front loading HE machines and some with top load HE machines and none of them were too happy. The front loaders need the door kept open or they develop a smell - despite regular machine cleanings. The top loaders take forever. Well, this machine is awesome. There is no smell and I have to keep the door closed. The turbo feature speeds up my wash cycle. The tub is massive and can easily fit a huge comforter or huge load of clothes or towels. I was worried that it wouldn't clean well without the agitator and with large loads. It cleans amazingly well. It is actually fun to watch. The clothes move up and down and all around and despite the fact that you put a huge load in there, when it is finished spinning, it looks like there's room for 5x more stuff.
A normal wash using turbo cycle takes 1 hour give or take a minute or two. The machine spins so much water out of things that drying time is much quicker. It doesn't use that much water but makes the clothes extremely clean. It is crazy how quiet this machine is - except for the cute little song it sings when starting/finishing a load.
If I had to list any drawbacks, it would be 1) that I end up doing far less laundry because the machine can handle such big loads, which of course mean my dryer needs to dry bigger loads - I have an LG dryer that can handle pretty big loads...the catch on that is - you need to pull out the dry laundry quicker so it doesn't wrinkle - but the benefit there is we don't leave stuff in the dryer anymore & we do less loads of laundry - I'd say at least 1/2 the amount of loads I did before this wonderful machine; AND 2) it is a deep machine so it may be tough, if you are shorter, to reach the stuff in the bottom. I'm 5'8" with pretty long arms. My machine is up on a 4" platform, which of course makes it a deeper reach. I can reach everything except it's a little hard to reach my 4 year old's little socks if they are on the bottom. My solution was putting my old step exercise platform in front of the machine.
If you are struggling with the decision of which machine to wash - like I did for about 6 months - reviewing every machine....well, I think you will LOVE this machine too!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by GoodDeal247 The most stable washer we ever bought
We bought this machine to replace a Bosch Nexxt washing machine which we bought few years ago. This LG washer outperform our front load Bosch in every aspects, like spin cycle stability, wash capacity, water efficiency. You can't go wrong with this one. The 5.0 cubic feet advertised size is a DOE standard, so it is truly a mega washer. Highly recommended.
