Why are your washing machines NON returnable???

I just recently purchased this washer and it's not that great in cleaning - I find myself having to use the dryer to remove all the dust/hair/etc. All the washer does is remove light soiling - my whites came out GRAY even using bleach and the water sits in the soap/ bleach dispensers... Very dissatisfied and wanted to go back to a front loader!
Asked by: notsogreat
You can return machines to Home Depot if within the first 30 days. I did twice, one after the other. Granted, that was in 2011, and exchanged each time for the same model of washing machine (LG5101). The first two had the same issues as the third one/the one I kept, I just figured out a way to circumvent. It eventually failed. And as for the water sitting in the soap/bleach dispensers, same here. I now have a new one - a different LG - a much improved machine over the other, but the water stays in the dispensers on this one too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less laundry! Very impressed! We replaced our 8 month old Maytag front loader with this machine after the belt broke 2x AND it smelled horrible no matter how well we followed the directions. This LG has been great! Instead of 7-8 loads of laundry I now do 2-3 (it would be only 2 if I was brave enough to wash towels and sheets together). This is way better than a front loader on so many levels. I love that it doesn't start to smell, it is easier to get in and out of, it fits so much clothing, has a lot of cycle options, and it has a nice song when the load is done. I wish we'd started with this one!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok We love the size but it just isn't that great of a washer really. Clothes don't seem to get as clean. I will get a front loader next time or I will go back to a traditional washer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this LG washer I was babying my old Maytag washer because I did not want to purchase a new washer without an agitatior. After reading many reviews, I decided on the LG washer. I do love this washer. It holds so much more clothes than my old washer. I like the 'water plus' feature on this new washer. I also learned how to trick the amount of water it uses to wash a load of clothes and this makes me very happy. I set it, start it and when it reaches the wash cycle, I turn it off and reset it. When it senses the load amount on the second set, the clothes are already wet and tricks the washer into putting more water into it. Now it fills with plenty of water. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never have I been so excited to wash clothes! I have a family of five with two dogs and wash clothes all the time. This washing machine is easy to use and saves me time because what would normal take me two loads I wash in one. The special features allow you to customize your wash to include a soak option, save button, and your able to add forgotten articles. I have washed everything from rugs, comforters, delicates, dog beds, and pillows and everything comes out great. Our clothes were cleaned and not tangled. Excellent washing machine for anyone with a large family. Only con is water stays in detergent cups after use; to remedy I leave the detergent door and machine lid open till dry to prevent mold/mildew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy With Pruchase I am blown away with the washing and cleaning of this 2014 machine. Clothes have never been this clean. Very surprised to see the clothes fully submersed in water (use extra water feature) compared to previous different brand HE machine we had. LG has the best repair records of all washing machine appliances according to Consumer Reports. Previous HE machine we had was so awful in cleaning and balancing that we had no idea how bad until we started using this machine. I think it's like rolling the dice with washing machines since they just don't make them like they use to. Lots of research went into this machine so we have our fingers cross that it will stay with us for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great washer, but no machine is perfect I've had this washer for almost 2 years. I think I've learned all its quirks, good and bad. I would actually rate this "very good" rather than excellent, but HD doesn't offer that option. There may be some tweaks to each new model year, but basically it's the same machine. I will say that the washer does get your clothes, towels, blankets, etc very clean and very well spun out -- BUT you have to do some trial and error to figure out the best cycle for each type of load. The instruction booklet is not particularly helpful in describing exactly what the water temp will really be or how energy saving each different cycle really is. For example, the "cotton/normal" setting default is warm water; however it is one of the energy saving cycles, so it only adds a tiny bit of hot water and you basically end up with what really is a cold water cycle. These are the two things that I fault the washer for: 1. If you want to wash in warm water, the machine does not mix the water; it starts out with a lot of cold water, then completely switches to hot for a minute or two, then back to cold. That's okay if you're doing towels, but for normal shirts, underwear, sheets, etc that I might like to do in lukewarm water, I do not want scalding hot water being dispensed right onto the clothes. A lot of people might not be aware of this, but our pipes are very loud so I know when it's switching to hot; I've gone to the washer and checked it and yep, scalding hot water right on my clothes. So, I wish it would just mix the two waters as it is filling the tub (like every other washer I've had); I end up just washing in cold almost all the time. 2. I think the water level selection would be more efficient if it could be manually selected, rather than claiming the machine weighs the load and then fills it accordingly. It starts out tossing and turning the load in order to "sense" it; by that time, your two sheets are totally twisted into a big ball in the center of the washer and never seem to get really swished around with the rest of the load. On the cotton/normal cycle, there is a very low amount of water. If you open the lid and add one handkerchief, it "senses" that you must have added 5 towels because it completely fills up the washer. So my opinion is that it's really not very good at determining how much water is needed; there's often not enough and sometimes way too much water is just wasted. But I've learned to work around the less functional aspects of the washer and I do appreciate several important facts: it never gets out of balance -- the self-balancing is excellent. It does have the "speed" cycle which I use quite a lot (kids are all grown so I don't have a lot of huge, dirty loads). You can interrupt the cycle to add more clothes, but, as I mentioned, the machine might then waste a lot of water. The machine is huge and you can wash a king or queen bedspread without having to cram it in and no balance issues. All in all, this is 10 times better than my last machine which was a front-loader. I use just a small amount of HE detergent and no boosters. The LG man said the machine does not use enough water to thoroughly rinse out booster products (like Oxyclean).
