Customer Questions & Answers

Regarding the original question on through the wall installation

So we should not install this unit inside a through the wall case. But will this be okay to install with the chassis outside on its own (so louvers are not blocked) on the wall? The house I purchased has three of these type of installations with really old AC units.
Asked by: eddiecny
I ordered online with no problems. The delivery was right on time and the drivers actually installed my new a/c through the pre-cut opening for me.

Is the unit only pulling 6 amps in heating mode?

I understand that it pulls 6 amps in cooling mode. Wayne- Lewisville, TX
Asked by: Wayne
Thank you for your inquiry. The LG 7,000 BTU Heat/Cool Window Air Conditioner with Remote (LW7014HR) is rated at 6.6 amps for cooling and 11 amps for heating. It take more energy to heat up a room than it takes to cool it down! Keep in mind that these are probably average figures since the external temperature, humidity will affect how much of a draw the Window Air Conditioner pulls. The highest pull would be when the compressor cycles on which will be much higher than when it is running! You also have to remember that your AC is constantly changing values too which will affect the amperage!...IFV

What kind of plug does this unit have? Will it connect to a regular three-pronged outlet? Thanks

Asked by: Eric
The 7,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW7014HR plugs into a standard 2 Pole, 3-Wire grounding receptacle, rated 15A, 125 VAC. The NEMA configuration for this is 5-15R and the plug is 5-15P. That is 2 parallel vertical blades above the grounding pole...IFV

Is this unit suitable for a through the wall installation?

Asked by: dance
Hi Dance, NO! This unit, the 7,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW7014HR is definitely not suitable for Through-the-Wall installation. While you are able to use Through-the-Wall Air Conditioners as a Window Air Conditioner, a Window Air Conditioner cannot be used in that manner because of the louvers in its side case. The Window Air Conditioner has to maintain that air flow around it and it draws air from its surroundings which is crucial to it's proper functioning and efficiency. Placing this in a wall sleeve which you would have to do were you to use it as a Through-the-Wall Air Conditioner would defeat that and the result is that this would impact the efficiency of the unit and that the unit would burn itself out!...IFV

Customer Reviews

7,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with Cool, Heat and Remote is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Right 4 Me This LG A/C has a lean look, is very quiet, and cools & heats up a very large area. However, the setting tabs on the lower right are very hard to see. Instead of the usual 1,2,3... for settings, it has TEMP w/an up-down "fan" feature. For A/C, I push the down arrow until it gets to the lowest number 60. For heat, I click the up arrow until it gets to the highest number 86. It takes about 15 minutes to figure out if I need to click some more. Worst of all, I've got pet mice who are constantly crawling in an out of the wide slats over the setting tabs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY So I bought this new window unit in the summer for a basement space sized for this units rating. It cooled as advertised. So now the weather has turned cold. Trying to use the heat feature, it just blows like a fan. Cool air. I set the unit to maintain a balmy 60 degrees. If I never readjusted that setting it would take until March to get that warm. If I'm going to have heat in my basement this winter I will have to go get a space heater as this unit is impotent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has great features. In addition to remote control, heat strip, energy saver functions, this product now has a "Clean Filter" light that alerts you when the filter needs cleaning. After cleaning you simply push the Reset Filter Cleaning button. This is a great improvement. The air conditioner cools quickly and maintains the temperature you set. Haven't used the heat strip yet this season but a previous model worked well and am expecting the same of this one. Easy installation.
