This dryer works! I put clothes in and in one shot, the items come out DRY. Our Samsung took sooooo long to dry - hours...... What would take an entire weekend before is now taking only part of a day to complete. Wahoo!!! I am shocked to say that doing laundry has become pleasurable!!! I am 300% more efficient than before. I have gained time with the purchase of this dryer.

The dryer works really well. However, I purchased for the SteamFresh function and it was hooked up (hopefully correctly) by Home Depot delivery. When I use the SteamFresh cycle, all it does is leave my clothes wet and doesn't freshen as it is supposed to. Is it possible that it was not hooked up correctly? I am supposed to be able to freshen up a queen size comforter just by putting steam through it. But it leaves it wet and you have to run the dry cycle anyway.

This is by far the best dryer I have ever purchased. Our laundry room is on the 2nd floor, one of the primary things we were looking for in a dryer is that it was quite and it wouldn't shake while drying clothes. The amount of clothes you can fit in during a single dry is phenomenal! I highly recommend this product. It is also blue tooth capable, so you can dry clothes with a touch of a button from your smart phone.

I didn't purchase this dryer at Home Depot but I thought HD shoppers might find my review helpful. I review other types of products professionally and found this dryer, and the matching washer (model #WT1201*), worth my time to review.
Installation: I chose to install the dryer myself. I'm fairly skilled in home repair, maintenance and improvement tasks (Generally, as skilled, or more so, than even the most experienced employees at HD). Other than hauling the dryer into my basement, installation was a snap. The electrical connections are color-coded on the back of the dryer. Just be sure that you have adequate space and light to install the pigtail (dryer cord/plug). My dryer required no leveling, even on somewhat uneven slate tile, but the leveling legs would have made the task relatively easy if necessary.
Of Note: The dryer came with the Y fitting and hoses to make the connection for the steam feature (more on the steam feature later). Often times, manufacturers don't provide such accessories. Thumbs-up to LG for doing so.
Also of Note: The dryer did not come with a pigtail. Be sure to purchase an electrical cord with a plug that fits your current receptacle. The dryer can be wired with either a three-wire or four-wire connection.
The installation test cycle is a nice feature to ensure that the dryer is properly set up before your first use. The cycle only lasts two or three minutes and it helps ensure that you have adequate exhaust through the dryer vent. DO NOT re-use old dryer vent tubing. Install a clean vent tube - as short as possible.
First Use: My first use test gave the dryer a run for its money. I loaded up a large, near capacity, load of towels, jeans, heavy cotton work pants and tried to dry them on the Delicate setting. I set the Dry Level as high as it would go, started the dryer and left it to do its work.
Minor Complaint: The "Signal" (cycle complete chime/alarm) is not very loud and the volume, apparently, cannot be adjusted. If your washer and dryer are close to your living area this isn't a problem. If, on the other hand, your laundry room is on a different level than your primary living area you probably won't hear the chime.
Test Results: As expected, the Delicate cycle was inadequate for a large, heavy load. Virtually everything was still damp - nearly as damp as when it came out of the washer. This certainly is no fault of the dryer's. It is truly unreasonable to expect a Delicate drying cycle to adequately dry a heavy load but I wanted to see what would happen.
Second Test: With the large, damp load still in the dryer I switched to the Cotton/Normal mode and set the Dry Level as high as it would go. Success! Everything was bone dry. However, due to the large load, there was one pair of heavy cotton work pants that was badly wrinkled - creased, actually. An opportunity to test the Steam Fresh cycle!
Steam Fresh Test: After removing the rest of the initial test load, I placed the heavy cotton pants back in the dryer and kicked off the Steam Fresh cycle. At the end of the cycle, the creases were still in the pants but were very faint. I suspect that the Steam Fresh mode would be adequate for lighter weight garments like cotton shirts and light cotton pants.
Features & Functionality: This dryer is on par or slightly above its competitors when it comes to features. A friend of mine works at the appliance store where I purchased this dryer. She walked me through a number of competing models from other manufacturers. This dryer was about $50 more than a competing model without the steam feature. Most of the other features are common across manufacturers at this price point.
Flow Sensor Feature: The flow sensor provides a warning when the dryer's exhaust flow is restricted. It is in your best interest to pay attention to this "idiot light" and clean your dryer's duct work when the sensor indicates a blockage.
Check Filter Feature: Another good warning light - the Check Filter light comes on whenever the Power button is pressed. This light will continue to be illuminated, even if you check and clean the filter, until the Start button is pressed. Don't be alarmed that something is wrong with the dryer.
Operation: For the most part, operating this dryer is fairly intuitive. However, I would say that the owner's manual is more of an installation manual than an operating manual. Each of the buttons is briefly described but very little operational information is included. For example, all of the Cycle Setting buttons and Option buttons are lumped into two categories with a total of five sentences dedicated to describing their use.
Another example of inadequate documentation is the information related to Custom Programs. The entirety of the documentation is as follows: "If you have a special combination of settings that you use frequently, you can save these settings as a CUSTOM PROGRAM." Thank you, very much, LG. Now, how do I do that?
Tip: If you are unfamiliar with the logic behind electronic devices, make sure your salesperson walks you through this machine's operation. You may want to take notes, photos, videos, etc.
Tip: Some buttons require long presses to access certain features. Generally, this is indicated by smaller text below the main text on the button.
Quality: According to a number of rating agencies, LG's appliances have one of the best, if not the best, long-term quality ratings in the industry.
In summary, the DLEY1201's features are on par, or slightly better, than its competitors. It is Energy Star compliant. So, it's energy efficiency is also on par with its competitors. The expected quality of this particular machine is better than its competitors and the value for the money is at or slightly above the competition.
