Customer Questions & Answers

LG specs say door is reversible on the dlg1002w gas dryer. Will installers reverse the door if necessary?

Your specs say right swing. Which side is the hing on in a "right swing?"
Asked by: DRYER
I ordered online from Home Depot and you can select the door reversal as a no cost option. I selected it and the HD installers reversed the door before they brought the dryer into the house.

Where is the lint screen located?

Asked by: Jack
The removable screen is located just inside the door in the lower door trim.

Does this dryer have a "flat" back? Are the depth dimentions of 27" accurate, or is there an additional "hump" on the back?

Asked by: washingmama
There is no assembly on the back of this dryer which would complicate the dimensions of the unit itself. However, this unit requires a newer, larger type of exhaust duct which increases this unit's installed DEPTH as it must stand further away from the wall than older dryers. I would add about 2"-4" to the depth of the unit depending on the situation of the exhaust port on the wall.

Is this model meant to be used with a pedestal?

I bought this dryer and companion washer last month. Installers who delivered said I needed a pedestal and left the boxes in my garage. The exhaust vent and gas connection are 12" off ground. exhaust vent is semi flexible so why do I need a pedestal?
Asked by: SamJ
No. Its a floor type, however it can be placed on a pedestal for ease of use. If your connections are 12" high you just need a gas flex line and flexible vent. Sounds like lazy or dumb installers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Electronic Panel failed The electronic panel failed in just over two years. Cost more to replace the computer panel than to buy a new dryer. VERY POOR QUALITY [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Last month our 20 year old Fisher/Paykel dryer finally died and so like any good engineer I took to the web and researched a replacement. My choices came down to a Samsung or an LG. While the Samsung brand was rated well on Consumers, I saw many customers were reporting problems and so we went with the LG. We wanted a non-steam, gas dryer with sufficient capacity and we found it with the LG DLG-1002W. This dryer has a huge capacity and the sensor system really works great. Having the controls up front is a very nice feature. The lint trap is well made and easy to access and clean. The dryer is super simple to operate (2 button pushes) , very quiet and dries our clothes really well. At 27" wide it easily fit through the narrow door to our laundry room. Changing the dryer door direction is slightly more complicated than other models, but not difficult, just be sure to follow the directions carefully. The delivery process was completely painless. Home Depot delivered the unit when they said they would and took the old dryer away. So far we are very happy with our purchase and would recommend this model to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice dryer We purchased the gas version. Nice range of features available for drying cycles that are user friendly. One nice feature is that it will indicate if the vent is restricted or clogged. Very happy with the capacity. Generally set dryness for "More Dry" when using one of the sensor cycles and this works well. With our particular installation location, having the controls on the front instead of on the usual raised area in the back is very helpful. Note that the door opens side-to-side but the swing direction can be changed - you can order the change as a no-cost option if having Home Depot deliver and install. Operation is quiet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nickname: Big Duct This dryer is outstanding. I don't render 5-star reviews ordinarily because my standards are pretty high and nothing's perfect. Still, this machine is probably the most deserving of them all in terms of cost efficiency and effectiveness. One of the drawbacks of this unit is limited options. This unit only offers you about 80,032 options for drying and I need more. I'm pretty sure we could have fit 30 more options in there somewhere. Maybe on the back? Nah, they wouldn't fit on the back because the monster ducting leaves little room. This is seriously the only problem I have with the unit. The ducting is much larger than the ducting that was already installed for my old dryer and, apparently, is a required upgrade. The newer ducting was bigger and less flexible so this increased the installed depth of my unit which knocked the "laundry room" airs off what is now effectively "the closet where I keep my washer/dryer". I actually had to remove the door to accommodate the dryer's door swing. Poor baby. It'll always be a full-sized, legit laundry room to me. Can't comment on durability as I've only owned it for less than a month but it feels solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet, many drying options We chose this dryer because of the digital control panel, as our old dryer had issues with the knobs breaking from being turned frequently. The drum is very large, the top is perfect for folding on, and the control panel has every imaginable drying option you could ever want. The dryer is also much quieter than our old one, and I often think it is done drying because I can't hear it until I step into the laundry room. Our only complaint is that due to the thickness of the back panel and placement of the vent hole and gas line, the dryer has to be pretty far from the wall, causing it to stick out almost far enough that we couldn't open our laundry room door. However, that may not be an issue in newer homes with larger laundry areas.
