Answer:
The exhaust vent hose for the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and Dehumidifier Function with Remote Control, Model # LP0814WNR is 5 feet long. The length of the hose is specifically designed to the air conditioner's specifications and cannot be lengthened, modified or replaced with a longer hose as that would reduce the unit's cooling efficiency and will cause the unit to malfunction...^IFV

Hot air can hold more moisture than cooler air can. Thus, you need to get rid of the water that was condensed out of the hot air as it is cooled. This unit has two ways to get rid of the moisture.
- The first is to attach a ordinary garden hose to the appropriate connection on the unit and the water will flow down that hose. You can either use a 5 gallon bucket that you will need to empty when it gets about 1/2 full (water is heavy so you don't want to get too much in the bucket or you might hurt yourself trying to carry the bucket to empty it). Or you can have the end of the hose go outside so you do not create a :water damage" place /spot inside your house.
- The second way to get rid of the water is to make sure the cap is on the water discharge port. Then the water is automatically combined with the hot air going out the exhaust hose (5" flexible hose) going through the window to the outside. Once the hot air meets the cooler air outside, the moisture will condense out of the exhaust air and turn to water and drip out outside your home. Read Less

additional info; this will be in an added sunroom on a 1951 ranch style house. there is an original basement window (removed) in this sunroom and the hose could go thru this window and empty into a utility sink directly below the unit.

Missy,
Yes you can use an ordinary garden hose connected to the unit and the other end going to the utility sink, just make sure you have the hose attached such that it will not fall out of the sink or the condensed water will end up on the floor. If possible, you can have the hose just go outside just make sure that the water runs away from the house so that the water does not ho down the foundation

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy at all i bought this portable AC unit because we needed one for our bedroom and our windows have gates on them so a window unit required a box being welded into the window bars. i thought this would be much easier to do. installation was fairly easy. the AC however is very loud and not very powerful. we have a small 20x12 room and it just gets it to a comfortable temp but def not cold or cool. I have decided to return this unit and buy a window unit instead. with the money a window unit will save me, i will pay someone to construct an opening in our window bars for it. the loudness i just cant deal with. i could deal with the subpar cooling as its only an 8k btu but the noise level is just too much for me. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NO courtesy service from LG I got this air conditioner few months ago, water leaks from the bottom and the Water Full warning lamp never comes on. I submitted for the warranty service on LG web twice, it said they would contact me but they had not, so I called them and talked their customer service, then they said that the local servicing company would contact you to pick up the air conditioner to be fixed....... still no-one has contacted me. I have been waiting for almost two months since the first warranty claim. It's so tiring to keep calling them. Also the air conditioner itself is very noisy and not powerful. July 8, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not awesome Good side: it does a good job cooling a room well within the recommended dimensions. Bad side: no economy mode - unlike the higher BTU and barely more expensive version this one has no option to save energy once temp is reached. Operating manual is hilariously inacurrate. The AC shows the room temp instead of the set temp. Manual horizontal adjustment may well break before actually moving. Like most portable ACs the exhaust vent radiates about as much heat back into the room as the AC removes. I really wish I could find an AC made anywhere but China. July 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for our RV After a lot of research, we decided to purchase this LG portable A/C as a backup to our roof A/C in our fifth wheel trailer that we are living in. We are in Phoenix, AZ area for all summer and have already had a week of extreme heat (115-120). We are very happy with this A/C as a backup. Staying cool inside all day and night long. Waiting for monsoon season to see how it works on "dry" to take moisture out of the air. Filters are easy to clean also. Only problem we had was the venting panel really doesn't fit any of our windows, so we used thick styrofoam to put in the gaps. New idea...portable A/C made for RV's. June 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unit failed to cool 6 weeks after in service Contacted support, the no-reply email had me try different things but the unit is still bad. Now I have to call for RMA I guess or more tips to try! yay. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible I bought these units to make it easier on my wife and I to get them set up. We used to cool the entire house with one 10k btu window unit upstairs and one 5k btu window unit downstairs, but getting them in and out of the windows was a pain. I purchased the two 8k btu units thinking they would be able to do the same job. They do not. They can barely keep one 10x11 room below 75 degrees, let alone the entire floor. They are noisier than the old window units, and the vent tubes keep coming disconnected from the window inserts. If I still had the boxes, I would return them. June 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good little unit. Cools a small room very well. A little on the noisy side, but works good for the price. July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Doing its job I had some initial bumps with this product - I did a store pick-up for this purchase on my way home from work one day, and when I got home and opened the box it was clear that I was given a returned item. Many pieces were missing, causing me to have to go back to the store to get them from another box - tsk tsk to the HD staff that allows something like this to happen. But anyways, the product itself is good. It was easy for me to assemble and set up myself, and that stuff is normally my husband's job. It is HEAVY. It is not a quiet product. It is maybe a little louder than a window air conditioner, but it works a lot better than a window air conditioner. I'm a light sleeper and have already adjusted to sleeping with it on, but I will probably buy a quieter one for our bedroom when we move to our new house. I would recommend this product, but with the advice that it will sound like a window air conditioner or more in your room. I can't complain though because I am finally nice and cold at night!
