Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 324 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than I expected I am writing this review after recently being forced to replace my 10 year old Bosch 2 days before Thanksgiving and needing something in stock that I could take home and install ASAP. My Bosch was the top of the line at the time and it replaced a Kitchenaid top of the line dishwasher so I am reviewing this dishwasher from a different perspective in that I have had mostly high end appliances before and had trepidations about buying a mid range LG a brand I have no experience with. Reading other reviews I was disappointed with many reviews and how people were rating this unit for silly reasons so I will attempt to do better to help others make the right decision. Cleaning - Obviously the reason we use a dishwasher, it cleans dishes better than my $1400 Bosch IF you use the right detergent AND rinse aid. Dishwasher detergents are not created equal and if you think so you are simply mistaken. I have the best luck with Finish Quantum, the one with red ball, not their other products this was the same as my Bosch. The LG has a food grinder while the Bosch has only a filter which must be cleaned frequently and even then still would leave food particles on the food if they weren't thoroughly rinsed before loading. Edge LG Build Quality - I did feel that the Bosch had a slightly higher but considering I paid less than $500 for this LG during the Black Friday sale compared to $1400 for my Bosch I would expect this but it wasn't that great or even anyone thing that I can point to just a sense that the metals and plastics were a little heavier and stronger. Time will tell if this has any impact. Edge. Bosch Rack Features - After reading reviews complaining about the racks, all I can say you should have to live with the racks in the Bosch many small plastic clips that constantly fall off, get lost don't really let you adjust them the way you need etc. in other words the Bosch racks might look good in the store but were awful to live with. I think racks are somewhat subjective to a users needs, dish size and shape etc. and a learning curve to learn the best way to load our dishes in a new machine. Many of the complaints I read such as the bottom rack falling out if opened to fast also applied to the Bosch because they simply have flanged wheels that ride on a ridge molded into the door, but putting it back is simply a matter of sitting it back on the door track, think of placing a toy train back on the track. Overall I prefer the LG racks to the Bosch which left me cursing anytime I tried to make any adjustments. Edge. LG Noise - This is a very relative and subjective opinion. Anyone replacing an older mid-line machine will probably feel this LG is incredibly quiet barely noticeable when operating but compared to the Bosch which is the quietest dishwasher on the market ,42 dB, it does make a noticeable level of sound when operating but certainly not an obnoxious amount and definitely not a $900 difference. Edge Bosch but at what price. Cycle time - much has been written about the long cycle time and it is true they do take a little longer, but what is also true is my dishes come out cleaner, I only use normal cycle, AND my plastics come out dry and ready to put away. The Bosch would leave my plastics dripping wet even overnight and would have to be put in the dish drainer to dry. I personally can live with the longer cycle time. Edge. LG Since this is getting too long I will try to,summarize overall I am very satisfied with this machine after 30 days of use how I will feel after 5 years is unknown but given that it was significantly less than a Bosch with as many advantages in my opinion I think I got my monies worth. I will rate it 5 stars against machines in the $500-700 price range and maybe 4 against machines selling for $1000 or more. December 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another Terrific LG Product Dishwasher arrived in perfect condition--delivery was scheduled with convenience. It is so attractive and works great. I would recommend paying the extra amount for installation because although my husband is handy, the install was difficult. The machine fits perfectly and does a super job washing. You will definitely need a good rinse aid so dishes dry appropriately. There is no conventional dryer and the rinse aid is required to dry. It is so quiet, we run it after bedtime and it doesn't make a peep. I previously purchased an LG washer machine and I am really happy with the brand. Glad I made this purchase--well worth the money. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great dishwasher, lousy instructions We just bought this dishwasher. Since my son-in-law has his own construction business I chose him for the installation since he has installed a number of dishwashers. Everything hooked up easily but nowhere in the instructions do they mention there is a plug at the in the drainage hose that must be removed otherwise, the dishwasher will not drain. So, I must give a 5 to the Home Depot delivery service and zero to the staff who writes the instructions. As far as the dishwasher, it is very quiet. I will give another review once I actually use the washer. As long as you remove the plug in the drainage line, I would recommend this dishwasher. February 8, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 1 year in and motor must be replaced! Purchased and installed via Home Depot in March 2014 -- excellent. Now dishwasher "whistles" during wash/rinse mode. Technician says bearings in motor are wearing and motor must be replaced ($350.00) -- 1 year warranty ended last month. We just finished paying for the dishwasher (0% for 12 months) and dishwasher needs replacement or repair. Parts come from Korea (as machine does) -- 10 day wait. Do you buy another dishwasher ($600.00) with 1 year warranty or have motor replaced with 60 day warranty? This was a wonderful machine at first but it needs an expensive repair after 13 months! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service We purchased this product in 3/13 and didn't have any problems until a year later when I noticed the dishes on the top rack weren't getting cleaned. I called LG and found my unit was still under warranty so they called the repairman for me, gave me the name and address of the place and approved whatever was wrong with the unit to be fixed. They ordered the parts and a week later had it fixed. I haven't had a problem since. The repairman said it was because of the type of detergent (liquid) I was using, and recommended the packs. I use electrasol quantum and it works excellent. Also, the LG rep signed me up for an extended warranty in case anything else were to happen. He was very courteous! September 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and Hip I couldn't believe how quiet this Dishwasher was. I couldn't tell if it was even on and I can't believe LG has another model that is even quieter. The look of the dishwasher is nice and the multi-color panel makes it very hip. They even give you a cool little jingle when the cycle is completed instead of annoying beep or buzzer. The washer has a sturdy feel and everything is constructed very sturdy. We are really digging LG appliances. July 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dishwasher okay, LG less so... The unit looks nice, has a large capacity both shelves, "quick" mode takes about 1.5 hours, which is acceptable, count down timer is great, and the unit plays a cute little tune when completed. You can select up to three options but you can't really see what the options are without a flashlight (see the photo with flash on) at the right angle. They apparently don't backlight the letters and they are super difficult to see - either in high light because of glare or in low light. There is an LED that shows what option is selected, if you could only read the selection! Another ergonomics related issue - why is there a soft power switch? It's an extra step. There was a review online that said it consumes 7 gallons of hot water per wash and around 1000 watts. That seems high to me. And there is a lot of flushing going on – I can hear water rushing through the vent near the sink quite often. I'm using a rinse agent and items get dry very well. I usually leave the door open overnight anyway but if I don’t it’s still okay. The usual places - bottoms of cups, the rims of plastic lids, etc. of course fill up with water and don't totally dry out. No heating element, which I wouldn't use anyway. Remember my issue with the options? I called LG and they didn't know if they should be illuminated or not. Go figure. So LG scheduled a local contracted TV & appliance guy. He called and we talked about it and he ordered a board. Oops - wrong part sent. Then he came by with the parts but immediately said they were that way. I contacted LG tech support "chat" again and they still didn't know (I really just wanted to confirm with someone someplace), then another agent joined, and then the chat was ended. I emailed the contact and no reply. They wanted to send the guy out again. How hard of a question is this to answer? So it would have been nice if the unit could have been turned on in the store. I installed it and it didn’t take very long. The rear feet would not adjust – or at least I thought the mechanism would break if I tried with more force – so I disassembled the mechanism and unstuck them. Afterwards they go up and down just fine. The last thing is the top mount is not too secure. You have the option of screwing in the two tabs (pic) at the top but they flop around and if you bump the unit then it’s cockeyed. You also have an option to remove a hole cap on each side at the front and drive screws into the cabinet sides but I don't think that would be any better. August 13, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A great dishwasher, that cant clean! The washer is incredibly quiet, controls feel good, options are fine. Seems like a good product. But I was mistaken. I purchased this 6 months ago to replace a Maytag dishwasher that has a known design flaw. I have an LG clothes washer that is great. I thought this dishwasher would be similar in quality, etc. But I was mistaken. The dishwasher's job is to clean the dishes and silverware. This unit it terrible. It leaves food and debris on plates and silverware. After spending 700 dollars plus tax, installation, and an extended warranty (due to the problems with the old Maytag)... You'd think you would get a machine that can clean a dish. I am extremely disappointed with this product, time to buy YET ANOTHER dishwasher. February 10, 2014
