Answer:
My LG frig also said to use part # ADQ36006101. I finally found it at Home Depot for about $50. The replacement filter Model # is LT700P but it is also part # ADQ36006101. They are the same. Don't know why LG confuses the owners with different numbers. I kept the box it came in so I'll remember in 6 months when I change it again. :)

Not really, you by pass it with the plug that came with product. But it is a good idea to use it as it keeps the water dispenser and ice maker system clean

For my refrigerator, yes, because it stops making ice when the filter is exhausted.

Answer:
No you do not have to use the water filter. What you will need to do though is in place of the water filter, insert the provided blank-off filter. This will disable the replacement sensor on the fridge. It should have come with your fridge. If you don't have one, you can order one from Home Depot, or through the manufacture of your fridge.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
The LT700P filter number is ADQ36006101...What you may find is that the 102 filter's connecting tab is slightly different. You should bring your original filter into Sears to compare the fittings.

Answer:
Hey there Gary, I'm Blake from Home Depot's online community. You are correct in your assumption that the LT700P and ADQ 36006102 are in fact the same filter, and are completely interchangeable.
I hope this helps Gary.

Our ADQ 36006101-S came with a bypass filter installed. It can't be pulled straight out and does not twist. I don't want to break it.

Answer:
Take a look at your owner's manual. The filter cover will swing down (press the button first). When it is opened all the way, the old filter or bypass plug will pull out without too much effort. The key is to make sure the filter cover and bypass plug is full opened (swing it down as far as it will go).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water tastes clean and fresh every time Definitely worth getting it and replacing it every 3 months. March 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Instlation Very to install and works fine so far. I gave it only 4 stars because its a little expensive for a recommended 6 months/200 gals. I do run a reverse osmosis system before the filter so I might stretch it out longer. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water and ice taste great! I like the ease of installation and the reminders that appear on the door panel when it's time to replace the filters. Still a bit pricey, but works great. March 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Necessary Part The water filter is a necessary part for my refrigerator. I purchased the filter to maintain good quality water dispensed from my refrigerator. It was a replacement for the original filter that came with the refrigerator. As required, I replaced the filter at the six-month mark. I am pleased with the product. March 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tasting water The original water filter produced great tasting water. Went online to order a replacement and thought I was ordering an LG filter but it was made by someone else. Water taste is terrible. I'm ordering another LG, from LG. I recommend this filter even though it's too expensive. November 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use I have used these filters for since 2011 and never had a problem taking them out or replacing the filters. They are very easy to use. The instructions are self explanatory and easy to order online. I have never had a problem with ordering online and they always came in days after the order was placed. August 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not perform The ORIGINAL water filter in my refrigerator worked perfectly. This replacement filter does not perform the same. Very disappointing. July 6, 2015
