Tine strength is fine. I think people complain about the tines staying vertical. However this really isn't an issue once some dishes are loaded.
The folding tines allows for multiple loading options.

I was concerned about that too - but they seem really sturdy to me, and I have to really push on them to make them fold. The way i see it if you are putting that much pressure on them when loading the machine, you are being too rough!

It's really up to you however as with all dishwashers despite popular believe the Liquid and Gel Detergents will gum up over time so you are better off with the dry powders or the compressed dry powder blocks.
You can get the Powder Blocks with a Jet Dry already in it eliminating the need to fill the rinse aid hopper with rinse aid.
Most popular rinse aid out there is Jet Dry.

Yes it's recommended for this dishwasher as it doesn't have the Heater Coil to dry dishes. It really helps with the water spots. Of course this all depends on your water and how hard it is also.

It's not a heating process it's a Hybrid Fan process. And it all depends on the humidity where you live and in your home.
Usually there will be some moisture but not much which is why it's important to use a Rinse Aid.

With the dry cycle, the fan ran for about 20 minutes, it pumped water out a few times and then when it was done the dishes had no steam droplets on them, the tub walls were totally dry. A few dishes did have one or two droplets on them but nothing I would consider as soaking wet. I suspect it depends on the weather and humidity in the home. If i had to use a word or two to describe I would say slightly damp dry on silverware and cups. Dishes and long utensils were totally dry. Read Less

I am looking for a dishwasher that can fit in a 33.5 height opening. This item sorted out when I searched for 33.5 inch tall dishwashers but the specs say 25.63 inch height ... hard to believe it is that short unless it is ADA. Can you confirm correct height?

It is a 33.5 inch unit. They say 33-5/8 inches so there is some clearance for the display on the door.
It has really nice adjusters that can all be adjusted from the front of the unit making the tight installations easier.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 81 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cleans great with steam Have had this dishwasher for almost a year now. I have a second dishwasher that does not have the steam feature, and this one with the steam does a much better job with dried on food. Leaves all my dishes sparkling. Love the 3rd rack for large silverware. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DISHWASHER IT IS THE BEST. CLEANS GREAT NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. June 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dishwasher We have had the dishwasher for over a year and like it. We have two issues. First, in a load there is always a few items that don't dry. Always need to wipe some items off before putting away. Second, we have found a few drops of water coming off the bottom left front of the machine near the end of the wash cycle. Not every load but just sometimes. It is very small (almost not enough to notice) but enough so stain the hardwood floors in our kitchen. I call LG support and they claim it is humidity related. The serviceman they sent out could not find anything. Said if problem persisted he could replace the door seal. When I called him back to do so he never returned multiple calls. I replaced the damaged floor. Now we put a bowl down to catch any drops if it occurs. Not exactly what you want to do with a new machine but it works. September 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Product I really like this dishwasher. Having used many other brands in the past this is the first LG I have purchased. Having three racks to separate things is wonderful. I don't end up with spoons nesting together and not cleaning. The screen in the bottom is removable to clean, This is great with kids who don't always rinse things. After my husband finished connecting everything and I ran it for the first time, we stood in the kitchen looking at each other and asked is it running? It is so quiet we were not sure if it was running or not. Recommend this product to everyone I know who is looking to replace an older dishwasher. January 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The Worst! This is without a doubt the worst dishwasher I've ever owned. Unless I use the strongest steam setting, the dishes come out dirty. My plates will not stand up when stacked - they lean over on each other. The folding tines fall down at the slightest touch. Based on my experience with this product, I will never purchase an LG appliance again. Don't waste your money. This is NOT a cheap machine. May 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Modern Dishwasher Came across this dishwasher on accident, but liked it immediately. First of all, the styling is great. The handle does not protrude out too much like other brands, so I can open the cutlery drawer without hitting the dishwasher. Very minimalist features on panel. Top cutlery rack was previously only found in one other manufacture. LED lights brighten up the interior to see better. I was sold. Installation was straight forward and simple. Made a high pitch grunting sound when first started up, but have not heard it since. Quiet and cleans very well, I especially like the steam function. Wife loves the top cutlery rack. Appears very well made. December 13, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really cleans dishes After about a year of using a dishwasher that barely functioned, we broke down and bought a new dishwasher. We did weeks of research before purchasing the LG. I love the top drawer, steam option, and extra rinse option (we have hard water). I also love how very quiet this dishwasher is. As for the negatives, the dishes do not seem to get very dry. Even with the extra dry cycle. I also seem to have problems getting my dishes to stand straight and not fall over - even with the adjustable prongs. But, they are getting clean. We even did a few test dishes that were very dirty and not rinsed. They all have come out clean. November 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product is so quiet, yet cleans with power. The thing that caught my attention first was how quite it was. I was watching TV the first time I ran it. I kept listening for it, but only when it was filling could I hear anything. The next aspect that impressed me was the third shelf and the ability to move the second self up or down to allow space to for larger items. Finally, the clean dishes was the most impressive feature. Using the steam function on dishes that have been sitting up to a week, cleaned everything spotless. Even dried on peanut butter was gone. I love my new dishwasher! Finally, one that does not require that I wash before washing. Thank you LG. December 19, 2012
