Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid overall and nice for the price Besides the fact that the instructions are horrendous and it arrived with a bent leg, this is a nice little generator. It runs well and does the job, relatively quiet (measured at 83 decibels with no load against the 63 its listed as). Its small and well built, easily portable and very functional. The biggest downside I have seen is that the choke is labeled backwards and the instructions essentially tell you the opposite of what you should do. Also, the valve for where the fuel is fed into the engine is not at the bottom of the tank, so you almost need 3/4 fill to get this thing going. Otherwise, once you figure out its oddities, it starts easy and runs very nicely. September 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LIFAN 1500 Portable Generator I am really impressed how easy it was to start; one pull and it was running. It is quiet when it is not under load. When you plug in a load the noise increases but not to bad. I am going to use it when it gets really cold to heat my diesel engine before I start it. .I very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend buying anything from Home Depot online. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average Rope dislodge from the starter pulley the first pull. Easy fix to repair once I figured out how the rope dislodged from the starter pulley. It is relatively quiet, runs good with what I want to operate (pitching machine). March 28, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by delivered quickly, starts easily and endurance is yet to be determined. The unit was delivered quickly and I started using it at our cabin to power battery chargers, run a tv, tuner and a couple of lights. It starts easily ( spring and summer temps so far ) and runs smoothly however, it is not as quiet as I originally thought it might be. June 19, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A fantastic little generator First off I have to thank Home Depot for speedy and fast delivery. Generator came on time and packaged very well. I added the oil a little gas and on the second pull it was running. The lifan 1500 seems to be about as quite as my friends Yamaha generator. My friend as a 5000 btu window air conditioner. We hooked the unit to my Lifan and it started the unit with no problem. Then we shut the air conditioner off and tried it again and again. Most of the time my new generator did start the air conditioner. I do understand that the air conditioner needed more starting watts than my generator really is putting out. But I'm more than happy with the Lifan easy start and quit what more can you ask for. Also very lite at about 50 pounds take it any where. And a fantastic price for what you are getting. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by There are. Quality issues We ordered the generator twice. The first one came with broken legs. This was returned and the next one came with bent legs. We kept this one because we didn't want to see what would ship next. Quality control needs to be looked at by the company February 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good little generator I have not load tested this yet but have assembled and ran it. 50 pounds is fairly heavy - I am a fairly large guy but my wife had a hard time moving it. Assemble itself was very easy but the diagrams in the manual did not alway match up with the equipment. Getting it started the first time was a huge pain (took me over 20 minutes of yanking the cord and adjusting throttle and choke), but everytime after that first start has been very easy. When running it is definately not quiet, but running it on the back porch my wife and I could just barely hear it inside the kitchen. When not running under a load the generator sips gas- filled tank about half way for the first run, ran it for over 3 hours to break it in and I could hardly tell that the fuel level was any lower. When running you need to manually adjust the throttle to keep it running smooth- may be a pain if running something like a refridgerator that is not a constant pull. Alll in all I am resonable pleased having this generator as an emergency backup, and may very upgrade my rating once I have experience running this under a load. September 29, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the money. I purchased this genny to run the lights on my boat while I was bowfishing at night. It runs 4 lights with 225w bulbs perfectly. The best part is how quite it is. The downsides are it can be difficult to start...sometimes requiring 10 -20 pulls. The other downside is the access to the spark plug. There is a hole in the sheet metal top that has a plastic plug covering it. The alignment between the hole and the plug did not allow the wrench to access the plug. I had to hammer a depression on one side of the metal to allow the correct angle. To me this was a slight inconvenience...more of a disappointment that someone would build something that was that out of spec. The hole is about 2" in diameter and not meant to assess anything else, so it should be orientated so access is easy. Overall I would buy this again. For the price, I don;t think it can be beat.
