Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Carlton good inexpensive generator, Bad battery
After two seasons of light camper use the battery will no longer start the unit. There are no replacements readily available. All replacements found so far are too big to fit in the unit.

for the first four days product worked well. on the fifth day it would no longer start even after countless pulls, new spark plug and oil change. was stranded on a primitive camping area with no power. the instruction manual is really a joke and the remote control with one of the two buttons working with no mention what so ever in the manual is simply a trial by error process. , the key has an off, on, and start, however the start does not work. the bottom line, i returned the product to home depot and replaced it with the ryobi inverter generator which has been working like a champ and is much quietier.

I have a 2800 watt Energy Storm generator.
You may have seen some of my reveiws on this unit.
I finally got tired of pushing the primer scores of times to get it to start.I had emailed Lifan several times without an answer. So I called and got the Service Mgr(Dan). I explained my problem and he informed me that it most likely was the primer bulb that was the problem. As my unit was still under warranty he sent me one right out.
I changed out the bulb and the unit started right up. Was I surprized!.
Lifan has a well run center.Everbody I talked to was well mannered and helpful.
Thanks Dan for your advice and the primer.
So parts are avalible along with good advice.
My unit isn't remote start

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JTYooper Product meets expectations once you understand how to make it function.
- Product does not have 12 volt output as described.
- There is reference to an oil chart that did not exist in my documentation.
- There is no mention of the remote starter or any instructions on how to make it operate.
After some hit and miss testing, I found out that you need to make sure the battery is connected, the key turned to on, the remote switch turned on, and to press the remote starter twice (quickly) to use the remote start function. The remote shutoff function works fine.
Once I got it started (initial start was challenging, many, many fuel bulb pumps) the generator ran as expected, and was very economical in the auto idle mode. It ran all the equipment I plan to use with it, and was reasonably quiet.
I have had multiple generators, ranging from 1000 watt to 6000 watts, and would say that this one is probably the best all-around machine so far, except for the poor documentation. A reasonable person can struggle through the lack of documentation, but the product would be much better if an effort was made to correct the listed deficiencies.

I have owned a Lifan 2600is for about a year and always found it extremelyy hard to start. The US rep suggested installing a hotter spark plug, but that didn't help. The only solution I have found is to drain the float bowl of the carberator, if the generator is going to set or has sat for more than a few days. Fortunately, they provide a plug for this purpose. After refilling the bowl by pressing the primer bulb a few times, it starts right up. Starting has been my only complaint, as the size, weight, and cost are perfect for my RV and backup applications.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kris Unhappy with this unit before I even use it
The unit was delivered yesterday (July 9, 2012). Upon removing the unit from the shipping box and packing, it was discovered that the screws that hold the handle closed are not tight so there is a gap. The manual mentions setting the choke lever, however we do not have one. There is also no guidance on how the remote start is used. The oil recommended is 10w30 and says you can use others and see the list but there is no list. At this point, I would not recommend the unit. I will update if Lifan performs acceptably when called. No call should be needed in my opinion. Should be able to receive unit and use it after reading the manual.

I purchased the unit to use with a motor home. Unpacked unit and looked in instructions for oil capacity. Model wasn't listed so used the next smaller unit, WRONG cleaned up spilled oil and filled with gas primed and tried starting. No Go, started taking covers off and found battery connector ends and pluged together. Tried key again and unit started. A little louder than I expected but still ok for money. Took about fifteen minutes to figure out that you have to press the start on the romote twice for the unit to start. No mention in instructions about battery or remote. Plugged into motor home all seemed good to go. Tried the air conditioner with the unit on eco throttle setting and unit stalled. Restarted and switched to normal run and air conditioner started and ran with no problem and voltage at 120 volts, more than I expected so a pleasant suprise.
Took unit on three day boondock, performed flawlessly, ran air conditioner with no problem. A tank of gas lasted about four hours with air conditioner running continously (Infield at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Labor Day Weekend). Filled tank before going to bed and unit ran all night running CPAP and refrigerator. Just what I was looking for.

I had a cheap Honda knock off with the same wattage and the diodes went out after 3 years of intermittant light use. With no source for parts, I debated whether I wanted another inverter generator as most are made over seas with no parts support in the US and those that are were over priced but my needs dictated I had to get another inverter type due to size & weight. I haven't used it under a peak load but it handles a small microwave load in economy mode without shuttering. I started it in <45 degree weather a few times and it will take several tries using the electric start but usually starts with <8 attempts due to the vacuum operated choke. At temperatures above 75 degrees it still takes around 3 attempts but once it warms up it runs well and restarts right away. The manual states pumping the primer 7 times before starting but I found it starts quicker if you pump it ~ 12 times then an additional 4-6 after failed attempts at starting and it cranks sooner. The noise is bearable standing next to it with a load to the degree that you could carry a conversation without yelling and the exhaust discharge is much cooler than my old generator. I read some negative comments about the manual and it appears that they've responded to the comments althought it doesn't cover maintenance such as valve adjustment specs, etc. which is typical of most most owners manuals. I called Lifan Customer Support twice before purchasing to research and was thoroughly surprised to speak to some so quick who was knowledgable.
