I wonder if for this it would be needed to make new holes in the metal door frame in order to install the double bolt lock ?!

Answer:
Yes it works beautifully on metal framed doors. You will need to drill holes in the frame. Be very aware of where the glass is as you do not want to drill into the glass.

Answer:
We placed the lock on one of the doors near the original lock. When the two doors come together this lock holds the two sliders together. When closed the doors cannot be lifted out. Hope this helps.

If your two sliding glass meet in the middle, you will need one lock and one interlocking latch. Model number for the lock is 200100200. Model number for latch is 200400200.

Answer:
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by backwards. Is your lock on the outside? In general if your doors come together tightly and you can open the doors by sliding the doors away from each other, it seems that you should be able to install these locks.

I'm sorry, I don't know what that means. Do you mean the lock is on the outside of your home? Please email photos to cassie-j@comcast.net

Answer:
I think this is what we have. To open the left door slides to the left and the right door slides to the right. And to close the two doors butt together. It is working very well for us.

Answer:
Thank you for the question. Yes, LOCKiT! will work with two sliding glass doors that meet in the middle. You'll need to purchase the lock (model 200100200) and the Interlocking Latch (model 200400200). The lock mounts to one door, the latch mounts to the other door. Please email if you have additional questions. cassie-j@comcast.net

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use Easy to install. Easy to open. Installed 7 of them in my house. June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mine was not good The sliding glass door lock that I bought was on clearance and obviously they didn't look to see if all the parts were there before returning it to the shelf (if that was what happened). I did not have the 2nd latch, or any hardware that was suppose to be included so, I returned it. It was a great idea but I never got to try it out! June 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, not for the novice 1) With this product, you run a risk of drilling too close to the glass inside the frame and shattering the glass. The instructions give no warning of this. 2) if you tighten the mounting screws ont he larg latch too tight, it distorts the plastic piece that is notched to retain the latch in the upward(closed) position, on the bottom latch. The result is that the bottom latch will begin to slide open(downward) because the plastic hook is not fully engaged to the plastic piece it is mated with. 3) Bought four of these....all 4 had different screws/hardware. Quality inconsistencies worry me about a product. On some, the screws were just too long. 4) Instructions should note that on some jambs, a metal drill bit and a masonry drill bit are both needed. 5) This product is best left to a professional to install. If you can do this on your own, consider yourself on the upper-end of DIY'ers. May 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Slding Glass Door Deadbolt Review I installed it on my patio door and it worked as advertised. Installation was very easy. A very well made product. September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent safety lock!!! In my opinion this is the best sliding patio door lock in the market. May 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not So Simple For an experienced contractor, this would probably be a snap to install. For those like me who are still trying to master the hammer and screw driver, this is complicated. The directions (both the video and written) are useless for the novice and there is no discussion as the appropriateness of the device for different materials, i.e. Whether this should be used on metal door jams. $30 is a good value for materials but most will have to add the cost of a contractor.
