Hi -where ever you place the outside transmitter, it will measure the temperature. If you have it enclosed - depending on the location it could read warmer than it really is. Try moving the transmitter around to gauge a baseline temperature and if it will work for your application.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, quick and correct I like that it can sit on desk or wall mount. It is quick to respond It is correct inside and outside. Easy to set up and read. July 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbge Never worked right since I got it at Xmas. Inside is fine. Outside never worked for more than a day or two. Wasted more batteries trying to get it right July 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Digital Thermometer I bought this product to read the temperature in my home. During this cold winter there were days it read 73 degrees outside when it was actually 29 and below. We changed the battery, reset and tried again. Again, it read in the 70's outside. Not in NY in 2015. I will be returning this product. Perhaps look for a better one. February 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product. I like this product keeps good track of the temperature. The sensor got wet I took out the battery dried it out put the battery back in, it works great. I've had it several months now with no problem. I bought it because of the great temperature swings out here in the desert January 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Gift Purchased thermometer as a gift. Works very well as described. February 3, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Worked fine initially, but hard to sync base with sensor afterwards This worked fine the first time I set it up. Since then, whenever I've had to change the batteries on the base, it has been a hassle getting it to sync up again with the sensor and display the correct temperature reading. Most of the time, I end up having to put fresh batteries in the sensor (even though it was working before I changed the batteries in the base) in order to get the base to connect to it again. I use NiMH rechargeable batteries and it runs through them fairly quickly, so this is really a hassle. October 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, but not for what I needed it for. I needed one for my barn to keep an eye on the temperature inside. It does not work through walls. It is only for outside temps. and to be placed in a protected area outside in a direct sight line of the receiver. That does not help me. Wish the details had stated this. September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well in humidity This was a replacement for another brand. That sensor was constantly giving wrong readings. The La Crosse manual started out saying sensors were water "resistant", not water "proof", big difference. Exactly the problem here. So far, and it's been a couple of cold and wet months, no problems. I made a small shelter for the sensor. I appreciate seeing max and min temps inside and outside, gives me an idea of travel conditions in my area. January 14, 2014
