Hi Tony.
Thank you for your question.
The easiest way to anchor your cherry timbers to the ground will be drill holes into the ends of the timbers and then use 3/8 to 1/2 inch re-bar. Make the re-bar long enough so that the re-bar goes all the way thru the wood and at least 12-18 inches goes into the ground.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Answer:
Use pressure treated 2x6 or 2x8 on its side. Fasten small brackets and slip rebar through brackets. Pound rebar in into ground to hold wood in place.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Use something else I only purchased these because my yard was already landscaped with this type and major repairs were required and I wasn't able to start over with different material. This year these timbers are in horrible shape. They are warped, twisted, split, and pitchy. Add to those flaws that this year all the stores have raised the prices considerably and they are not a good choice. I recommend going a different way for a person starting fresh. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good, much thicker and stronger than the one selling at Lowes for the same price. Good, much thicker and stronger than the one selling at Lowes for the same price. March 17, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not treated I have used this before and it rots out much to fast. Better off using 2x6 or 2x8 P.T. on its side. Use reabar to hold in place. November 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 1/2 what they use to be I have old landscape ties, some need replacing. Bought originals at HD, so thought i could find replacements there too. The ties now available are 1/2 the width of the old ones and every one had severe cracks. Junk that won't match what they sold in prior years. September 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ready for Pickup Very easy order. I live 2 hours away from my Home Depot and ordered on line. When I got to the store, my order was neatly stacked waiting for me. I'm pleased! April 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cant complain at that price. I used these 2 years ago and they all stayed straight. I did predrill my holes to build a large planter out in the parking area of my property. I did drill and screw them together every 2 feet too. They were easy to work with but as you have already read ,use gloves.I treated them with copper any surface that would touch soil. They are holding up rather well so far. Got alot of positive comments on the results. I had planned on using behr blue stain to make it match my house but so many people said not to ,as they liked the rustic look. May 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Wanted to keep the look of natural products in my garden and this works great as a barrier between my grass and flower bed that has mulch. The guys at HD are always helpful with cutting wood to size for me! November 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great for making a raised bed or border but smaller then previous timbers from last year. These are great for making raised beds. They are not pressure treated just stained. My biggest problem with them is they didn't match the leftover ones I had bought last year. The new ones have about a 1" smaller circumference. Wait till these go on sale for a cost of only $1-2 per timber. Also be prepared to sift through the pile to find straight ones since these are always store outside. March 24, 2014
