Answer:
Hi Tony.
Thank you for your question.
The easiest way to anchor your cherry timbers to the ground will be drill holes into the ends of the timbers and then use 3/8 to 1/2 inch re-bar. Make the re-bar long enough so that the re-bar goes all the way thru the wood and at least 12-18 inches goes into the ground.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Worth It Spent almost an hour in the store picking through the pile. I picked the least warped, twisted, and cracked beams I could find. Even the good ones were almost unusable. I wanted to stack them 3-high. I bolted them together with lag screws, and ran 2-ft rebar in the ground at intervals. They still look twisted, and continue to crack. September 9, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by You'll be lucky to find a decent one I found only one timber out of the two giant piles that wasn't twisted, cracked in multiple places, covered in sap, or all of the above. I would have thought this was just my local store but the other reviews seem to indicate a company wide problem. You'll have to search to find decent ones. August 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Termites love these cheap and great if you they are temporary. Putting wood on the ground is asking for trouble. In 2 years, had to toss them since they were all full of live termites. Replaced with bricks which will outlive me. August 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Use something else I only purchased these because my yard was already landscaped with this type and major repairs were required and I wasn't able to start over with different material. This year these timbers are in horrible shape. They are warped, twisted, split, and pitchy. Add to those flaws that this year all the stores have raised the prices considerably and they are not a good choice. I recommend going a different way for a person starting fresh. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good, much thicker and stronger than the one selling at Lowes for the same price. Good, much thicker and stronger than the one selling at Lowes for the same price. March 17, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not treated I have used this before and it rots out much to fast. Better off using 2x6 or 2x8 P.T. on its side. Use reabar to hold in place. November 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 1/2 what they use to be I have old landscape ties, some need replacing. Bought originals at HD, so thought i could find replacements there too. The ties now available are 1/2 the width of the old ones and every one had severe cracks. Junk that won't match what they sold in prior years. September 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ready for Pickup Very easy order. I live 2 hours away from my Home Depot and ordered on line. When I got to the store, my order was neatly stacked waiting for me. I'm pleased! April 28, 2015
