What is the Storm Feature?

Some reviewers have said the storm feature allows the window to be closed when you want to close it. Does that mean the entire fan is not inside the open window; rather it is in front of the whole window frame?

Answer:
The storm feature is the ability to close the window with the fan in place. No need to remove the fan unless you want to clean it, etc.

The fan mounts to the side trim of the window just in front of the lower sash with the sash closed. Two screws go into the side trim on each side which the expander panels hook to. After mounting the fan can be removed by lifting an inch or so and pulling the expander panels in a bit. You may have to remove/alter the sash handle(s) in order to allow the sash to move smoothly up and down behind the fan. Read More

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 382 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lasko Window Fan I would highly recommend this window fan. It's very durable and cools the whole house when used to draw in cool air. It has 3 speeds and the motor is very strong. June 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not like the good old metal units. Not the quality I expected. The unit doesn't seem sturdy, The temperature control knob keeps popping off. Hard to mount in my Window, one of the mounting screws popped out due to vibration.I think I made the wrong choice. May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I'm a Fan This fan was window ready. It went straight from the box into the window. I couldn't be more pleased with it. Lasko makes quality fans. This one fan replaced 3 smaller ones. May 31, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too small The fan works great, but it's not wide enough for the window. They should include extensions for the sides. May 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good ventilator fan for the money I purchased this fan around 13 months ago. Around the 5th month, the blade started clicking on slow speed, turning the speed up made a bad vibration. After taking the motor and blade assembly off, it was clear that the blade was cracked. I repaired the cracks with gel super glue, and gave the hub one wrap of mechanics wire. Been using it since without any issues. Make this fan with a decent blade and it would be a 5 starred product! Runs quiet on low speed, a little noisy on high. Overall a good buy. April 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too big for me This is surely a good fan, although it seems rather plasitcky. In any case it was just too massive for a sitting room window. Not the manufacturer's fault; just a lesson for me... April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet and powerful We've gone through many window fans and finally found the right one. April 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best window fan I've ever purchased This fan is awesome. I use it in my bedroom ,motor is very powerful and I don't need to have the speed on high for it to be effective . I have two windows in my room , so i open the second window when I have fan on exhaust which helps ventilate the room even better, because it sucks out the hot air from the room leaving the room cool. I didn't need to use side panels even if i did there is no major assembly required which I love and the fan has a very sturdy and strong frame. I've talked about this fan with my friends and some relatives they had to witness it in action and they all concluded that is an excellent fan ; few of them even purchase this fan. July 29, 2014
