Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be wall-mounted?

I am looking to mount it at a downward angle.
Asked by: Katt
I do not think it is meant to be put on a wall and is best if placed in a window for air circulation.

How much energy does it consume?

I need the wattage, voltage, and amps.
Asked by: Pichi17un
I really don't know but I think it only costs pennies to operate. Details are in the product information on line.

Asked by: ValuedCustomer
But is it the same fan? That one has complaints of being noisy. This one is supposed to be super quiet. One would suppose that would change the CFM. Does it?

Customer Reviews

20 in. 3-Speed Weather Shield Performance Box Fan is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks well built It's a fan. They all kind of look alike but this appears to be built better and moves more air than my discount store specials. It has a metal frame and plastic blades and grills. My last cheapie fan fell out of the window and the blades broke. Not sure if this fan would survive that fall but I'm sure it will get it's chance. The motor does appear to be protected from the elements so I'm not as concerned about it during a light rain. I will probably buy another to use outside under the awning of the RV just because of the protected motor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The product is named, "Weather Shield." The description says, "Patented, isolated Weather-Shield ... The product is named, "Weather Shield." The description says, "Patented, isolated Weather-Shield motor for worry-free window use." The fan is shipped with a sticker that clearly says it is not for use in a window. I will not purchase from this manufacturer again since they choose to play ridiculous liability games. Home Depot should stop selling this brand since HD is typically good about being clear about products and standing behind their sales.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good fan I did a fair bit of looking around (yeah, I know, "for a fan?") and came across a very detailed review of several fans that included their flow rates, sound in dB, etc. (someone had too much time on his hands!). That review included this fan as one of the two recommended fans and, so far, it has lived up to the conclusions of that comprehensive fan "study".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great airflow I use this to circulate air thru my whole house. I put it in my bedroom facing outward and it pulls air in from across the house. Love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet on low speed/ a bit louder on higher speeds, but very acceptable I am using this fan as an exhaust fan on our 3-season porch (lots of sliding glass windows). It does the job of cooling the room down, at low speed, and has a quiet, soothing sort of sound. The higher speeds have not been necessary as of yet, but the sound levels of the higher speeds are louder (as expected) but not terribly obtrusive. I got this model (Weather Shield) because it can take some dampness from rain if it blows into the room before I have a chance to remove the fan from the window sill. The fan comes with 4 snap-on plastic stabilizer legs -- but I did not attach them because the sill that I am placing it on cannot handle those legs jutting out. A better design would be to have metal stabilizer legs that fold out from the bottom of the fan, so that you could position them as need be. So, I have deducted a star for this reason-- cheap, ineffective stabilizer legs that are not good for all situations. This is likely similar for all of these box fans made today. But, there is definitely room for this simple improvement to be applied to all these box fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan! Bought 2 of these while on sale for next summer. Funny, but daytime highs have been above 80 degrees every day since. Luckily these fans are up to the job. Relatively quiet even turned to max. Great buy!
