It is on a tower so you can use it in any room with no worries for rugs or carpets. It comes on when the temp drops 2 degrees below what is set and goes off when the temp is 2 degrees above. When not heating the display shows current temp in room. The oscillating feature is a bonus, I will never buy another heater without it. It was a good, smart purchase and well worth it.

This is one of the better heaters on the market, doesn't quit on you like many do, no matter how long you run it. Very happy for once---an excellent buy, warms up quickly

Awesome! Tried a 6 element infared heater (box shaped type) Wouldn't heat my master bedroom at all. This ceramic heater is move efficient and puts out plenty of heat. It will heat my 500sqft high ceiling master bedroom with no problems and very quick. From 45 to 75 in around 60 minutes. Once the room is warm it runs very little to keep it comfy. Noise level is very low. At night I have to purposely listen for it to hear it. Remote is great.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dangerous Great heat and features
I have had an older version Lasko in my office for years - maybe ten or more. It works fine and I used to put it on a low stool so the heat would hit me more when sitting. Anyways...saw this heater with the nifty pedestal and thought I'd get a new one. It works great! The heat is stronger than my old one, and this product has added features that come in handy. For example, tells me what the temperature is, and allows you to set where you want it. All in all, this one works even better.

Bought this heater after doing nearly a month of reviews on down time. This particular heater had the best overall reviews of anything out there (looked at several popular shopping sites). When I went to purchase it, it was on sale making the decision that much easier. I'm using the heater to supplement the whole house furnace in a kitchen that opens up to another bedroom, a basement stairwell with a back door in it and the dining room where my parrot resides. The automatic thermostat does just as I had hoped. When the furnace kicks on, the heater shuts down and usually doesn't come back on till the temp. drops again. Set at 69 or 70, the heater has raised the kitchen at least two degrees and the adjoining bedroom which has an air return in it is pulling the warm air into it, raising the the temp by two degrees as well. The plastic base is very solid and the handle on the back makes moving it so easy. I like the fact that this heater is off the ground where it can't get bumped by the cat or dogs and isn't too close to the carpet or linoleum . The heater is not only the quietest I've ever seen or owned, but its quite powerful - - heat output is very impressive. This heater will quickly warm up any larger space without a doubt. I had one of those clunky radiant quartz heaters in the wooden box last year that couldn't even raise the room one degree. It was returned within a month. This heater puts those overpriced wooden boxes to shame. With a three year warranty, one can't go wrong with this choice.

I've been using this heater approximately one month on a daily basis. Or, I should say my husband has. I purchased this to heat our small, medium height ceiling living room. I don't think it does a very good job. If the room is cold e.g. 67 degree when the heater is started, it can nearly get the temp up to 70. Of course, if the main furnace pumps the temp to 70-71, then the heater can warm up to about 73 degrees. (My living room measures 12 x 10'. ) so, ultimately, it doesn't really supplement as a heating unit. It just warms the air a bit. My husband uses it when he's in his chair watching TV or reading. It's a nice substitute for a blanket.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Leftie33 Great Heater for the Money!
Last year I purchased one of the Infrared "box" Units from Northern Tool for about 33% more. The first one broke in about 6 weeks, and the 2nd one would not start when I first needed this winter. I took it back for replacement, and they refused to replace. I purchased this one, and wish that I had last year. It warms my room faster, is quieter, and it seems to be using less electricity as well. I really like the oscillating feature and the power cord is also long enough to move around quite a bit. I cannot rate how durable it is yet, as I've only had for a few weeks, but I really like it so far.
