I own both the Lasko 40" Hybrid and a Honeywell Quietset vertical fans. I like them both for different reasons. The Lasko is noisier, but solely because it is moving more wind. I don't find the noise a problem on high, and on low it shouldn't disturb your sleep. The Lasko has less features than the Honwywell (3 speeds vs 7, no timer or thermostat control), but they both have remotes - and the Lasko has the features I desire. I use the Lasko in a larger room and the Honeywell in my study. I have had both for ~ month and used them heavily and no "strange" sounds or problems have emerged. I think the Lasko Hybrid is an excellent choice if you want something that will put out a stronger breeze than most any other vertical fan.

This is a nice looking fan. The noisy is very loud, not as described. The fan doesn't produce cold air as others I had had.

The HVB wins just slightly. The 40 inch Hybrid moves just as much air as Lasko's highly rated HVB Tower Fans. I purchased both models and I was very impressed with how well the 40 inch Hybrid performed in blowing out air.
So if you're looking for a tower fan that can push out a lot of air I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this 40 inch Hybrid Tower Fan or one of the HVB models.
These fans are slightly louder than the standard tower fans so keep that in mind when ordering.
Cons: There is no timer or fresh air ionizer.
The bright blue power light located on top of the 40 inch Hybrid Fan will light up a dark room with a blueish glow. That can be distracting for some people.
The fan may prove difficult to clean later on.

I purchased this fan over a year ago, and the fan is still working. I originally purchased this fan because my dorm did not allow me to control my thermostat, so I needed a high powered fan. The ground level fans took too much space, which was why I wanted a tower fan. This fan has surpassed my expectations of a typical tower fan. For those who may be located in a building lacking grounded outlets (3 prong) this is a two prong fan.

I bought this fan for my husband as a Christmas gift (yes in the dead of winter) because he needs to have a fan at all times for sleep. He uses this fan for two things... as a fan and back-ground noise. His old one was on its last leg and he needed one badly. The fan has a strong motor. He only has to have it on the first level and you really can feel it. It's not too loud either. Just a nice fan noise on level one and two for the purpose of sleep, and when at the highest level, it is quite a bit louder but still an okay level. It has a night light, which is a nice feature and you can shut it off. Also a remote control but we do not need that since it is right next to the bed for the our purposes. Easy assembly; only the stand to put on the bottom. All and all, we have found this fan to be worth the price, nice looking, strong motor, good oscillation, and the right height. I hope this one lasts a long time,

I have tried a few of the tower fans on the market, but none of them really pushed enough air to be really useful. This one, on the other hand, blows... big time! I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean that in a great way! You won't need much but low on this fan for daily use. It has a decent cord with a fuse in it, chunky remote, and oscillation.
As I mentioned before.. this fan blows! Most tower fans have a blower fan in it, but set up vertically so it can only roll air around it. This one, set up horizontally, actually sits at the bottom. It sucks in air on both sides into the rolling blades and then pushes the air up into the tower. This works just like the fan in your furnace at home. The fan motor is not noisy at all, but with the amount of air it pushes, you will get that WHOOSH! sound of forced air... much like your furnace. I don't find it to be too much noise, but it is something to keep in mind.
Overall, its a great size.. small footprint lets you stick it easily in a corner of the room. Big air lets you use this fan in larger rooms or in places where you need to move some air. Best tower fan out there, hands down! Now I own two of them!
pushes a TON of air
Could be too much fan if you like the wimpy ones
Can be noisy (AIR noise) at high speeds

I love this fan! It gives out cool air, so much so that I have to turn it off around 2:00 a.m. cause it gets to cold.
I used in a very large family room and it cools us all. It is also extremely quiet.
So happy with it I told my dad and bought one for his family room also.
