Is this fan plastic

I am looking for a fan but do not want one that is plastic
Asked by: shopper
If you do manage to tip it over, the plastic blade assembly breaks easily, by cracking along one of the many seams on the hub. I had this happen to two of them, by getting knocked over onto a concrete floor,(long story)

Is the assembly difficult at all or pretty simple??

Asked by: Charlie
Assembly is simple, no tools required. The front fan shroud is a real beast to get fastened properly. Very poor design.

I'll get it eventually but I expected the medal hinge-y things like my beloved late fan. I loved those. But this I hate, loathe, despise -- when I pick up the fan by its pole the bottom falls off and makes a big crash. "So don't pick it up that way" right? I wish i could! But it's so intuitive to grab it there; and having the memory of a fish, I'll keep doing it. I think it's going back and buy something else in person. If my peeves are of no consequence to you, buy it.

This Lasko 18 inch Cyclone Adjustable Pedestal Fan works well and moves plenty of air. This is a very cheaply made, mostly plastic fan, and the design of the clips that attach the front of the fan shroud is very poor, making it difficult to assemble, or re-assemble after cleaning. It does do it's job, but I'm disappointed in the quality of manufacture. I've purchased several of these over the last 10 years, and the longevity is usually 1 to 2 years.

It's built as cheap as the price that you end up paying at the register for this fan. It works just fine and I'm sure it will last us a long time it's just like bringing home a toy completely built out of plastic

This winter straight 3 2 weeks I was out of sleep due to heat produced from the heat. I brought his Fan and switched on the humidifier and it worked. Now I understand that Sounds sleep = Lasko Fan + heater + humidifier :) :)

Everything went fairly well until the very last step - attaching the front grill. My previous fans have had a clip, but this is different. You have to snap it in place with these difficult snaps. Directions stay start at the top, snap, and work your way down. The problem is the back grill is made of flimsy plastic so every time you try to push the pieces together, the back grill bends and it will not snap in place. I tried everything possible and could not get it snapped. In frustration, I put it in my car, drove back to the store, and an employee couldn't even get it to snap. I questioned if she is able to snap it, how difficult will it be to take it apart and reassemble to clean the blades? Finally the employee realized this will never snap together and even pointed out that the back grill is LARGER than the front grill! I exchanged this for the Lasko Cyclone box fan model #3520. It is already assembled so I just pulled it out of the box, plugged it in, and turned it on.
