Answer:
It doesn't have an automatic shutoff, but the wattage is so low, it's extremely unlikely it could start a fire. The grill is also raised a bit so you'd need a high-pile (shag) carpet to actually block the airflow. When I got mine I tested them for an hour face-down on a carpet square, and noticed no danger, or even uncomfortable heating of the carpet.

Answer:
Actually, no it does not. I just tipped mine over and it kept running and heating. But at only 200 watts, it probably wouldn't burn much of anything, probably not even gasoline soaked newspaper (but don't try it, silly!) Good question, though.

Answer:
You would have to use an inverter, which might put out as much waste heat as this heater puts out, and would cost more.

Answer:
Yes but you must have a converter/adaptor, which would step it down to a DC and plug into your cigarette lighter. The one in the picture is $29. delivered with Prime. There are several selections to fit your needs.

BASICALLY SOME COLORS SELL BETTER THAN OTHERS: I'm guessing like most retail stores, because it the price doesn't end in .09 (meaning $17.99), it has probably been marked down. Items that sell faster (even if its the same product in a different color) typically remain at the sell price while less popular items may be marked down. Answer:
I don't know why other than that purple is cheaper because it would be harder to match with most decors? I know what you mean, though, as they are identical units except for the cabinet color. I bought one purple and one black, they perform exactly alike.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Happy I love this little heater. I work in a cold office where I'm the only one that is cold. I purchased this little heater for my desk and it sits right behind my keyboard disguised as a fan since heaters aren't allowed. It's quiet and keeps me warm all day. Highly recommended!!! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not enough heat I wish I'd read the feedback from 'Jake' before purchasing this heater. It fits nicely on a shelf in my small bathroom but the heater barely throws out any heat. Also, the instructions say it has to be plugged directly into the outlet and a surge protector cannot be used. March 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heat in the winter! Perfect for the office that runs the air conditioning all year long! I would buy it again! February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific Little Heater With my heating blanket and this I am toasty at night. November 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase! This small heater is just the right size to sit on my desk, the air flow is quiet and it doesn't get too hot. It's Perfect! October 28, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 200 watt heater I was hoping for a small bathroom heater that would be enough for my small bathroom. I believed that this one could do the job. I bought this heater and then tried it out and did not really feel a difference in the bathroom, the heater could not ever come the space as my bathroom was 4' 6" W x 8' L x 7' 6" H. I resorted to buying a 400w heater from Aldies. The Aldies heater worked so well I bought one for my bedroom also, it keeps my 8' x 10' bedroom at 65f when the rest of the house is 50f. I do not recommend this heater but recommend searching a 400w heater for small spaces... January 6, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a lot of heat compact and light weight, but it really does not put off much heat. Bought it to put under a desk in a cold office but it really wasn't sufficient. Upgraded to Lasko 754200 (home depot had best price I could find on the internet) and so far it is warming the space under my desk just fine. June 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the Job! First thing: remember this is only a 200 watt heater! If you want a whole room heater, then look elsewhere. That being said, I purchased two of these to put underneath my desk that is against an exterior wall. One would not have done the job, but one for each side of the cavity makes all the difference, as now it is nice and comfortable. I feel these units are safer because of their low wattage. As well, the cords don't get hot like some other heaters, so I don't think the units are working too hard. If you have the correct application, I think you'll be happy with these little heaters.
