I'm looking for a personal heater for my work desk. Will this give off enough heat placed on my desk?

It's not freezing in here but my fingertips feel so cold by the end of they day. I just want something to place on my desk where I can feel the heat while I sit here, which is literally all day. Will I feel the heat off this? How close would I have to place it to me to feel the heat? I usually like to be SUPER warm when I use heaters so the warmer the better.

Answer:
I use this in my office. The office's ambient temp is 65 F. Too cold for me. So, I warm my immediate area with this heater. I have the heater on my desk, about 3 ft from where I'm sitting. Love that it's small, so I can easily turn the heater to blow the warmth in any direction desired.

Hi, Lia. Yes, this unit will give off significant heat under the desk, but not overpowering. Like you, I prefer the heat to the cold, so I actually purchased two - one for each foot! One just didn't cut it for me. The nice thing is that they're fairly inexpensive for their performance. Best of luck, hope this helps.

Probably eventually, but you need to remember - this unit gives off the heat of approximately two 100 watt light bulbs. Maybe two would work better. Best of luck.

Answer:
It doesn't have an automatic shutoff, but the wattage is so low, it's extremely unlikely it could start a fire. The grill is also raised a bit so you'd need a high-pile (shag) carpet to actually block the airflow. When I got mine I tested them for an hour face-down on a carpet square, and noticed no danger, or even uncomfortable heating of the carpet.

Answer:
Actually, no it does not. I just tipped mine over and it kept running and heating. But at only 200 watts, it probably wouldn't burn much of anything, probably not even gasoline soaked newspaper (but don't try it, silly!) Good question, though.

Answer:
You would have to use an inverter, which might put out as much waste heat as this heater puts out, and would cost more.

Answer:
Yes but you must have a converter/adaptor, which would step it down to a DC and plug into your cigarette lighter. The one in the picture is $29. delivered with Prime. There are several selections to fit your needs.

I was attracted to this product because of the size of the heater which is very small. I was looking for something compact and that wouldn't overwhelm me with heat or run up my electric bill. When I received it and turned it on, very it took a long time for any heat to come out. When heat did come out, it was very little and after a while, stopped working completely. Will never buy this product again.

My other space heater for my desk area at work kept tripping the circuit breaker so I needed one that used less energy. While smaller than I would like, it does the trick to warm my fingers and toes during these cold days. Because I work in a cinder block warehouse with high ceilings, it is always cold so this little guy really helps. Note, it only heats a couple of feet around it so do not expect it to heat a whole room or area. It is tiny and uses not much energy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic little heater We have two of these, originally purchased for an attic apartment with little to no insulation. Drop this under your desk with a lap blanket, and you'll be toasty warm. Since moving I've left one in the cold bathroom plugged into an outlet timer, it takes the chill out in the early morning. The other one was useful while painting a garage in the fall. It was just enough heat to keep the paint at the recommended curing temperature, and no flames or glowing elements to worry about burning the house down. I've actually tested this heater, leaving it face down on a carpet swatch for an hour (with supervision) to see if there was any danger to it. I personally feel safe that this thing couldn't start a house fire, even if knocked over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this heater I have a central heat source in my living room. These heaters work great providing a little extra heat in my bedroom and study. And, I love that they run on 200 watts, so low electric costs. These are personal heaters, so will disappoint if you're trying to heat a large space with them.

I put it at my feet or on my nightstand and the 200 watts combined with the built-in fan throws a nice amount of heat. The low wattage allows me to run it from my two 100 watt solar panels. It's very quiet and a good value.

Item as described, other than that this item is worthless and deserves a lower rating (but 0 isn't an option). What good is this heater? I really don't know since it can't even warm my hands on the keyboard from 12 inches away and blowing directly at them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cat Loves It I made a house for a feral cat which I needed to heat on freezing days. Other heaters were too big. This is perfect heating the place about 20 to 30 degrees above outside temperature. This was my 3rd attempt to help the cat and the first one he uses.
