This fan is surprisingly quiet considering the amount of air it moves. It does not disturb the phone or TV when set on low (or possibly the other speeds) and it is more quiet than my vacuum cleaner when set on any speed.

Not even. Much quieter than my former 20" box fan on its lowest setting. We use this fan on the patio to keep bugs away and still talk. Not as quiet as a ceiling fan to be sure, but the fan moves a load of air. You'll be happy with this fan.

Shelly, I don't find this fan to be exceptionally loud, like a vaccum cleaner. It pretty much sounds like a regular floor fan.

I have this model, along with two of the smaller versions. The Pro puts out more air and is actually slightly quieter. I LOVE it. I use it at night on low to supplement the a/c, and keep the air moving around me, plus I need white noise to sleep. At about 8 feet away, it would be too much air at speeds 2 and 3. Yes, from wall to fan cord, of the same gauge, and if greater distances, such as 100', at least 12 gauge if you're using cascade accessories off the included duplex outlet on the fan's side panel.

Answer:
You can use a properly sized extension cord with most any appliance. Your home wiring is all 12 gauge and if you were to use a 10 gauge extension cord, even a heavy duty appliance can be used with a long extension cord. This fan would work well on a 50 foot 14 gauge cord, but if you plan to plug anything into it's outlets I would recommend you use a 12 gauge cord

The person responding with 8-10 amps has no idea what they're talking about. I measured this fan with a Kill-A-Watt meter and it uses 87 watts on high, 76 on medium, and 64 on low. So you're looking at no more than 1.38 amps at the highest setting.

You can tape layflat ducting to the exhaust to direct air out of a window. You can also tape 8" flex ducting to the intake to bring in fresh air from outside. Nice little use for this powerful fan.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the high wind power! Small, real fan power, and relatively quiet. I encountered this fan once at a job during a warm evening, walked by it and fell in love with the pure power of wind that hit me. Went to teh store and bought one immediately. September 20, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the fan This fan was more than I expected for the amount of money that I paid. It does an excellent job of moving air and takes a small amount of space. Would highly recommend the purchase of this fan. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great blower fan for exercising Nice fan, easy to adjust and move around. I use it for my treadmill. October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job This was a replacement of a similar fan. It does the job well. You get more directed velocity out of this than a 20" box fan, at the trade-off of some spread. For shooting hot air out of a room, or cooled air into a too-warm room, this sucker works great. We use it for a furnished attic bedroom which needs the airflow in summer, and it's handy because the smaller size (versus a box fan or pedestal). Also you can use it as an extension cord since it's got the built-in power plugs. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for what I needed Work perfect for what I needed it to do, the delivery was quick and it is drying out my crawlspace like a champ. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This monster seriously blows (in a good way) The unit was ready to go, straight out of the box. I use it indoors as an air circulator. Of course knowing this item pivots up and down. It is not an oscillator like the traditional floor fan. I just tilt it toward a wall and the blow circles around the room. I have only used the lowest speed (#1), for fear it will blow away all my wall hangings! Some commenters mentioned the unit being "quiet". I would not say it's absolutely "quiet", but considering the force of air being blown out, I don't mind turning up the TV a few notches. My old Oscillator floor fan made noise but did not have near the blow this thing does. If it were a tad quieter, I'd commandeer this thing to my bedroom! August 7, 2016
