Customer Questions & Answers

What temperature range is the thermostat adjustable?

Asked by: DFN
I have had the fan run as low as 48 deg ambient temp...I believe that the 'thermostat' probably has a range from 'no power' to 'always on'. Between these two extremes is a 'temporary off' that allows the unit on after an approximate rise in temperature closes an internal circuit. There is no external scale/dial with which to determine the range however. When your ambient temperature is warm enough that you would want the fan on, simply turn the dial until the fan starts. It is now set to start whenever the temp rises to that specific ambient temperature. Speed is adjusted by a separate 3-position dial.

What is max. cfm?
Asked by: Rick
About 2000 cfm on high. It's on the Lasko spec page. It's as loud as any other 20" box fan on high.

It's nice to have a controllable thermostat on a fan as I have put them in the window and at night as it gets cooler the fans shut down until the sun warms up the rooms. The other unit was a different matter. As I open the box, the knob on the thermostat was off and I had to look a little deeper to find out why. The thermostat was not seated in it's position in the handle. I had to take off the grill and push up the pot until it seated fully and then put the knob on. Reinstalled the grill and all is good. Not sure if it was an issue of assembly or packing, but that shouldn't have been an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Fan Worth the extra $$ for in/out window use I have both this weathershield 20 inch box fan and a Lasko white standard model and notice the air movement difference. Just the gray and black make this fan look great and work well while placed in my large double hung windows to cool the house. I really like the optional thermostat if I just want it to run here and there or till I fall asleep. I have used this for a year now, in/out the window, but all year round in the Northeast and nothing has stopped it from working. I included a picture of the shielded motor with the rear grill off while I cleaned it. Great job Lasko on this model. A definite recommendation for people who LOVE box fans and their multiple usages. As others have stated I do wish there was a speed adjustment to the thermostat. Currently, it will just shut off and on to the speed dialed in. Also, not a model specific concern but just a Lasko design is to rethink the plastic stability feet. They do not last long and I have had to make something metal to last longer on all my Lasko box fans.

Purchased as a replacement for a 8+ year-old LASKO built-in to an outdoor playhouse. Exposed to rain and sun, the unit still operated but was rusty and the plastic was degrading. The new unit was identical in dimension and utilized the same on/off arrangement. Color and finish was retail quality. Noted that the frame has additional mounting screw holes hand-drilled under the plastic grilles. No clue if this was a factory correction, but it does not harm it's appearance or performance. Auto on/off and long-lasting motor make it perfect for my application.

It appears to draw a large current at startup but I didn't measure it. There are screw holes in the base for mounting. The case had a dent in the side it but the box was undamaged so it must have been before it was packaged. I plan to mount it out of sight so it didn't matter.
