Product Overview

(Note: If product is not available to order in your area that is due to nighttime temperatures. Product may not cure and/or track in late Fall and early Spring applications). 1-Pallet (36-Pails) of Latex-ite 4.75-Gal. Optimum Driveway Filler Sealer is an asphalt emulsion based sealer designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway. Optimum will leave a deep black color while providing strength and flexibility with its reinforced fiber and rubber system. Recommended for all condition blacktop driveways. Helpful Hints before you seal your driveway: 1. Flip pails over night prior to doing job (it will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency during application). 2. Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 3. Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecast and it is at least 55°F at night (a cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 4. Check latexite.com for further tips and How To Videos.

Look at the packaging to see if the maker post a date. I have used this stuff in the following season and I took steps to keep it from freezing and stirred it vigorously the following season and did not have a problem, but I would carefully check the package.

Depending on how "thirsty" the asphalt is, you will need 1 1/2 buckets, so you'll have to buy 2 buckets.

This stuff sinks into cracks, so if the driveway has never been sealed, you will us a lot ( 3 or 4 pails ). If it's sealed and smooth, maybe 1 or 2. Get 3 and bring one back if you need to. I used 4 on my driveway, which had several large ( 1/2 inch ) cracks and had not been sealed in a couple of years. My driveway is about 15' by 30'. Good luck.

You might get by with two, but if the pavement is cracked and breaking up, I'd get a third bucket and do those areas twice.

It really depends upon the surface you are putting it on and how you apply it. I did a 25 x 35 foot driveway with 5 buckets but it has been a LONG time since I last did it, so it would be fair to say that a good estimate is 4 of the 5 gallon buckets for q 24 x 24 area

4.75 Gal. Optimum Driveway Filler Sealer (36 Pails / Pallet ) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from worked well Bought the product after estimating how many buckets I needed using their chart. Was first time coat on new asphalt which they warn increases requirement but they would have to be putting get on perfectly flat surface to get to their number . Increase at least 20% over the amount hey recommend. Do not put on in sunny conditions .Dries too fast and you get a line where your runs overlap. Best to do in morning or evening. Sqeegie worked well to spread. Had to work back and forth to fill voids in new asphalt . Good color and had solids to help smooth surface. Had two different batches and one had more solids than other but both worked. Will see how it lasts...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Tar for Driveway The tar is easy to apply, but follow the directions. Estimate the number of buckets you'll need, then add one or two more. You can always return them to HD if they weren't opened. 1 - Clean the driveway with a blower. 2 - Stir the tar to get the sand filler mixed into the material. HD sells paint stirring tools to use with your drill. 3 - Apply on a warm, dry day. Early in the day so night-time critters don't walk on it and track tar on cement or brick nearby. Or walk on the tar then JUMP ON YOUR CAR ! 4 - Use a roller or squeegee ( squeegee is best ) to apply tar. 5 - Clean your tools with water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for a great price. We ordered a pallet online and were pleased with the shipping time and placement of the pallet, also the quality of the product. We used considerably more product on the pitted asphalt (not in great condition.) But sealer covered 2-3 times more area on the smooth asphalt. We were worried about the cold and wet weather that was forcast for our area. Every night, the next week, dipped below 50 degrees. We didn't drive on it for a week to allow sufficient cure time in the warmer weather during the day. After 3 weeks, it looks fantastic and is still in great condition after several days of rain and cold.

Product mixed well, poured out on asphalt and squeegee flowed into a very dry and thirsty driveway. Driveway is exactly 2420 square ft. (242 sqft. per bucket) and was in very poor shape. Used 10 buckets exactly. Followed directions, temp ~85F day and 65F at night no rain for 24hrs. Looks excellent!! Very pleased!!! Photo shows that product does fill as promised, even tho this crack should have been repaired first as the directions described. Will recoat again next spring to fill/even-up the top finish and repair cracks first then coat. BE ADVISED: Obey the temperature and rain warnings on the label!!! I did lots of research first and you will have poor adhesion results otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Resurfacer We used this to seal our worn driveway at our new house. We pressure washed and used patching compounds to fill in the cracks. We let this dry a week before doing this. We swept the driveway and gave it a good spray with the pressure washer to wash off any dirt left over. The sealer poured smoothly and was easy to apply using a squeegee applicator. This was our first time, so it took longer than I thought it would to put it down but it was easy to do and it looks great.

This is my first time sealing a driveway, so I can only compare this to some negative reviews I've read about other sealers. It's not thin or watery, it spreads well and fills cracks and gaps. It goes on shiny and dries to a deep black color. I've had it on for two weeks now and it still looks new. I would suggest using a squeegee for good level coverage, and doing it in the late afternoon so it doesn't dry too fast and split open in the cracks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected This driveway sealer went on fast and easy. I used a roller for detail and vertical work like near the sidewalk and the slope by the culvert. It touts an 8 year lifespan which I have yet to see. Most sealers never last more than 2 years so if it stays beyond that with our WI winters I will consider that a vast improvement over other sealers

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fair I used a drill powered mixer to thourly blend the material but still wound up with clumps of grit as I applied the material. I paid a premium for this product and I am disapointed by the clumps of material and its failure to fill small cracks. I am hoping that I will not have to make a claim under the 10 year warranty .
