Product Overview

Introducing the only permanent filler for concrete joints and cracks: 30 ft. Pli-Stix medium gray permanent concrete joint and crack filler. This product originated from federally specified highway jobs but the only difference is you do not need a 200 Gal. melter to apply it. Pli-Stix is permanent because it is applied with heat (a simple hand held torch) and it bonds to the sidewalls of the crack. Cracks open up because they expand and contract with freeze or thaw cycles - but Pli-Stix will expand and contract right along with mother nature. Medium Pli-Stix is designed for joints and cracks 1/2 in. to 1 in. in Dia.

  • For concrete joints and cracks 1/2 in. - 1 in. (12.7 mm - 25.4 mm) in Dia
  • Hot applied, self-leveling, gray, rope-like filler bonds to sidewalls for a permanent seal
  • 30 ft. (9.1 m) of medium gray Pli-Stix
  • Traffic ready in approximately 20 minutes
  • Chlorine resistant - great for pool deck concrete joints
  • No volatile organic compounds
  • Prevent slip, trip and fall accidents
  • For deep cracks or joints, before you begin fill the crack using backer rod, sand, or stone dust but leave enough room for product

Can you cut the product with a box cutter to make it smaller diameter so it can be used in a smaller crack?

Asked by: Brent
Yes. In some cases I cut it for smaller cracks and in others I doubled/tripled it for larger cracks.

Is there a minimum working outdoor temperature for application?

Asked by: Gary
I would say no but the better your torch the better the melt. In Texas it will never get too cold. I did it on a 40 degree cloudy day in MN.

The original fiberboard deteriorated. The product works well IF you use enough heat. The first time I used a traditional butane torch head, not a good choice for heat and angle. I purchased a hose type torch and it worked like a charm. I had to fill some spots before I inserted the Pli-Stix, I used foam baker rod, although in sone spots that melted and the Pli-Stix sealed down. No problem though I just put another strip in and melted it. Make sure you order more than you need since you are bound to have "sink-spots". It is winter now and the seams are still holing out the moisture and have not separated. In the past have used self leveling caulk type material for the smaller seams but probably would not again knowing now about this product and how to use it.

Not so for me. It was not wide enough and fell down into the crack. Took it back. Thus I cannot say how it would have performed. The company responded to this review by offering a refund above and beyond the refund that HD gave me when I returned the product, a generous gesture. Thus a buyer takes no risk in trying this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time I prep'ed my joints, inserted this product, and put a butane torch to it. The product burned and a minimal amount melted but it did not do what it was supposed to do and fill the crack. It just pulled right out. I played with hearing rates and dwell time but could not get results. PNo detailed instructions included not could I find anything online

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, but too shiny after heating This is a good product. We used a heat gun at high temperature. It took a while to do just one strip across the sidewalk but it filled well and did adhere to the sides of the concrete. It takes a lot more product than I thought. I foolishly filled the deeper cracks with backer rod which just melted and turned black long before the Pli-Stix melted. I've not used any other filler product so I can't compare but this is a good one if you have the patience to wait for it to melt. I think using a blow torch would be a better option. It looks shiny after heating it. I would take the advice of several reviewers and sprinkle sand on top of the Pli-Stix before it cools so it matches the concrete better. It looks great that way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The repair of 1 inch gaps in my concrete. This is the first time using this product. The gap that I was trying to fill was 1 inch in width in most of the places I needed to repair. I had to apply the PLI-Stix several times in order to fill the cracks. First I layed the PLI-stix in the bottom of the crack and melted the material. I added more to it to bring it the the top surface of the concrete. The material was very easy to melt using a hand held propane torch. I just need to see how this material will react with the freezing cycle in this location. One plus, I will be able to melt the material again next year if needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Not Great With a long driveway, I've had a fair amount of experience withe Latex-ite products. I especially like the asphalt version of the Pli-Stix, which give a lasting fix better than any cold repair product. I was hoping for the same with this concrete (gray) version but was somewhat disappointed. It's less forgiving and requires low, steady heat and doesn't flow as readily and evenly as a result. Too much heat will cause it to bubble and burn and you'll end up spending more time correcting the damage. It's likely to work best on joints and relatively deep cracks since it is not as self-leveling as they claim, and you can't use high heat to spread the product out as is possible with the asphalt version. Overall this stuff is tenacious and provides a strong repair when used properly, but care needs to be exercised if appearance is important.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big disappointment The only thing that was accurate in the literature was the color of the material!! It required double the amount of rope to fill a 1/2" crack. It states on the package, "MEDIUM SIZE FILLS CRACKS1/2" - 1" WIDE". It does NOT melt evenly and does not harden with a smooth surface.. I ordered material for 155 feet of 1/2 inches of crack. I have completed 9 1/2 feet in 4 hours of uninterrupted work in 80+ degree weather. The cracks have been back filled to a depth of 1/4" with sand prior to laying the material and melting it. Have lots of Propane and time on hand.! The concept is great.
