Product Overview

Introducing the only permanent filler for concrete joints and cracks: 30 ft. Pli-Stix medium gray permanent concrete joint and crack filler. This product originated from federally specified highway jobs but the only difference is you do not need a 200 Gal. melter to apply it. Pli-Stix is permanent because it is applied with heat (a simple hand held torch) and it bonds to the sidewalls of the crack. Cracks open up because they expand and contract with freeze or thaw cycles - but Pli-Stix will expand and contract right along with mother nature. Medium Pli-Stix is designed for joints and cracks 1/2 in. to 1 in. in Dia.

  • For concrete joints and cracks 1/2 in. - 1 in. (12.7 mm - 25.4 mm) in Dia
  • Hot applied, self-leveling, gray, rope-like filler bonds to sidewalls for a permanent seal
  • 30 ft. (9.1 m) of medium gray Pli-Stix
  • Traffic ready in approximately 20 minutes
  • Chlorine resistant - great for pool deck concrete joints
  • No volatile organic compounds
  • Prevent slip, trip and fall accidents
  • For deep cracks or joints, before you begin fill the crack using backer rod, sand, or stone dust but leave enough room for product

Can you cut the product with a box cutter to make it smaller diameter so it can be used in a smaller crack?

Yes. In some cases I cut it for smaller cracks and in others I doubled/tripled it for larger cracks.

Answer:
We don't recommend doing so as it is very difficult to safely cut it. The same product is offered in a 1/4" size in a contractor quantity pail under the Crack Stix name.

Answer:
It is about as soft and flexible as the product is before installation. A little harder than silicon sealants. It gives a little when pressed on but then returns. Assuming that the area around it is properly cleaned, it holds very tightly to the surrounding material.

Sorry but a lighter will not provide enough heat to melt this product. You will need to use a torch.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, but too shiny after heating This is a good product. We used a heat gun at high temperature. It took a while to do just one strip across the sidewalk but it filled well and did adhere to the sides of the concrete. It takes a lot more product than I thought. I foolishly filled the deeper cracks with backer rod which just melted and turned black long before the Pli-Stix melted. I've not used any other filler product so I can't compare but this is a good one if you have the patience to wait for it to melt. I think using a blow torch would be a better option. It looks shiny after heating it. I would take the advice of several reviewers and sprinkle sand on top of the Pli-Stix before it cools so it matches the concrete better. It looks great that way. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not recommend. This product was very difficult to melt. (However this same product in black was very easy to work with.) July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pli-Stix Concrete crack seal - very pleased It was a little bit hard to find the product in the catalog by searching, but once found, it appeared perfect for my situation, The order went very well - delivered to store as requested and on time. Application was fussier than I had anticipated, but the directions were clear enough. As with many new (to me) product applications, the end of the installation looked better than did the beginning. None the less, the product appears to seal very well and be quite tough. I will not know for some time whether or not it has the durability I expect. Overall, I'm pleased with the product and HD's service. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by crack filler Great product fills crack with strong bond. Easy to use May 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The repair of 1 inch gaps in my concrete. This is the first time using this product. The gap that I was trying to fill was 1 inch in width in most of the places I needed to repair. I had to apply the PLI-Stix several times in order to fill the cracks. First I layed the PLI-stix in the bottom of the crack and melted the material. I added more to it to bring it the the top surface of the concrete. The material was very easy to melt using a hand held propane torch. I just need to see how this material will react with the freezing cycle in this location. One plus, I will be able to melt the material again next year if needed. October 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it should Works just as advertised only a bit time consuming if you have a large area to cover December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Big disappointment The only thing that was accurate in the literature was the color of the material!! It required double the amount of rope to fill a 1/2" crack. It states on the package, "MEDIUM SIZE FILLS CRACKS1/2" - 1" WIDE". It does NOT melt evenly and does not harden with a smooth surface.. I ordered material for 155 feet of 1/2 inches of crack. I have completed 9 1/2 feet in 4 hours of uninterrupted work in 80+ degree weather. The cracks have been back filled to a depth of 1/4" with sand prior to laying the material and melting it. Have lots of Propane and time on hand.! The concept is great. July 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprised I am familiar with the black version of this product and this seems to be just like it except grey. I was impressed with the quick delivery by Home Depot. May 19, 2015
