Electric start is great ,self propelled took a little getting used to,it works well. You dont have to push the mower.I have a small yard so a 20 inch deck is fine.

I wanted a self propelled lawnmower with an electric start because I have a bad back and have difficulty bending or lifting. They did not have one in the store, so I ordered online. Big mistake. Mower had a bent wheel height adjuster out of the box. After working with it, I got it so it would it would adjust. When I went to mow, the self propelled feature didn't work. The manual suggested the cable was adjustable. After adjustment it worked ONCE. The 2nd time I started to mow, it would not engage. I would really like to return or exchange, but Lawnboy says I should take it to an authorized repair shop. So I will have to lift a 90lb mower into and out of my car. I am searching my city to find a repair shop. The motor seems good. It does start easily. But everything else is cheap. I sure hope they will honor the warranty on this piece of junk.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NONE Satisfied with product, BUT!
This is a good lawnmower despite the fact that it arrived with the included quart of oil container having a leak in it (contents of the carton bathed in oil). This unit has a variable speed drive lever which was not clearly described in the online sales description. It takes a bit of patience to learn to use this vs most power drive solutions of "select a speed" options. It is also a bit dangerous as when one hits an unexpected bump on the lawn (even a small one) the speed lever may bounce in one's hand and cause an unexpected acceleration or stoppage! I have yet to find a real redeeming advantage in this approach to a lawnmower drive.

I bought it online and got it delivered to my home. Shipment came pretty quickly much earlier than the promised date. I opened it, read the instructions and assembled it in a few minutes... all too easy.
Started mowing and noticed that one of the front wheel was not touching the ground. Then noticed that the height adjuster lever was not firmly sitting in the groove provided. No matter which hole you put it, even at the slightest bump it would slip all the way back. It was clear that the lever on one side of the mower was damaged/loose and it did not look like a shipment damaged. It came from the factory defective

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Duke convenient, easy to use , light weight, easy start,
This is a very convenient, easy to use , light weight, easy start, if battery is down, pull start a breeze. I have it for 4 years now and working fine. No issues. Battery charges very fast and good for a whole season. Only thing is the bag is too small and fills up fast and the position of the bag blocks the shute with the result the grass overflows from one side. This is the only draw back otherwise it is 5 stars

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by disappointed DO NOT BUY!!
Came with the left rear blade height adjustment bent so badly that it would not lock into place. I was able to move the teeth a bit with a wrench, which made it useable. Mower started right up and ran GREAT! for the first 5 feet that is. Then the self-propelled drive system locked up and refused to budge. The build quality is poor, even for this price range. The bagging system is an utter joke... the chute is really narrow- now way is long grass or leaves going to make it into the bag...lWhile the engine is really nice, the wheels and some of the other components feel filmsy. I cannot believe that it 1. arrived bent and 2. arrived broken. SAVE YOUR $ AND BUY SOMETHING ELSE!!!

I looked at a lot of lawnmowers. My criteria: no Briggs and Stratton motor (I've only had bad luck with these); self-propelled; no big wheels in back (these eventually crack off from the extra leverage exerted when turning and they are costly to replace); decent reliability reviews from Consumer Reports; fair price. This mower filled my criteria and I have not been disappointed. The Kohler motor started with the very first pull. I was thinking I would get a Honda but they are a lot more money and the cheaper models have the big wheels in back. Also, the drive system on the Hondas is not as reliable as that of the LawnBoy (according to Consumer Reports). I'm very happy with my choice.
