Yes the lawn mower starts right up almost all the time. It says that right on the top for you to see. But I needed a mower that collects the grass this thing has the worst design in capturing the grass- after you mow about 6 feet of your lawn no matter the length or height adjustment the door to the bag gets clogged with clippings and the mower turns into a mulching GRASS PUKING MACHINE. Literally I spend more time picking up piles and cleaning the side walk/drive way than mowing. Wife hates to mow due to the mess- she use to mow all the time. My neighbors get a kick out of watching the event and take note not to buy this green mess of a mower. Tried every trick n advice from this manufacture - same result I am done with this after 1.5 years. Wasted my money! Going to buy a different brand this spring. I have some good picks of the aftermath mess this thing creates.

Wheel adjustment slips out of selected height location.
Have to use another position ,which is either to low or to high .
Does anybody know if the peg adjustment can be repaired ,some way.?
Mower does not collect loose leaves but blows them to another location.
The old Lawn Boys were light ,this dog is very heavy and hard to maneuver when you have a lot of trees to mow around.
My father-in-aw would roll over In his grave if he had to work on this mower.(he repaired mowers)
Gas cover is extremely hard to open and close .You have to have a strong hands to do it. .
Very dis-appointed in this mower.

Lawn-Boy used to stand for quality. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Cheap plastic abounds... gas cap and carb cover both broke within first year of machine purchase. Then pull cord went. Warranty is a hassle to deal with and time consuming. I had my previous 2 stroke for over 25 years and maybe had it in shop 5 times. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EW Frustrating rear height adjustment
This mower cuts pretty well, even when the grass is pretty long. Engine starts up easily every time. However, towards the end of the first season of mowing, I noticed that the rear height adjuster would keep slipping off of the pins and suddenly there would be a dip cut into the lawn. Ever since then I have to keep reaching down and push it into place every few minutes or so as I mow, or I have to settle for a different height than what I prefer. Very annoyed by this from a relatively well respected manufacturer.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PhishPhan24 Good all around mower
I wanted a solid push mower for small areas and trimming (I have a Toro rider for the large sections of the lawn). Had a Troy Built (Briggs and Stratton engine) that after 2 years had engine problems and while it was in the shop, I opted for this Lawn Boy. I like the tri-cut blade, does a stellar job mulching. Simple assembly and prep - had it running in ten minutes after pulling the box out of the car. We've had it a month now, no issues. It's not Lawn Boy I remember from my youth (mixing gas with oil and unique seafoam green color), obviously someone purchased the name, but it runs and cuts fine.

My first delivery via UPS was refused for oil/ carton damage, but the sweet little lawn mower I picked up,at Home Depot is great. Being easy to start, tough on rough terrain, lightweight, and easy to maneuver are just a few of the reasons I am very happy with my mower. The staff at Hime Depot were friendly, knowledgeable, and service oriented . From a former school teacher you get an A+.

Easy to start, light weight, pushes easily, cut even, didn't bog down in tall grass. Haven't experienced the height adjustment issues noted in other reviews, but one of the things I liked about this mower is the range of mowing heights.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by gdollar Worst mower I have purchased
This replaced my 20 year old Craftsman which was awesome but died recently. I bought this mower because it had an adjustable handle and does work for taller folks. The engine is fine and does start first time without a problem as well as being efficient and I liked the one step adjustment of the wheel height. It was easy to set up out of the box and no issues were encountered. So why is this the worst mower I have ever purchased? Two crucial reasons. 1. This mower blows any leaves away from the mower before you can get near them and so all leaf debris is blown onto a path or flower bed rather than going into the cutting pan to be mulched (according to the instruction manual it is supposed to be able to mulch the leaves). Grass cuttings are blown out of the pan despite having a bag attached. So I have to spend another hour cleaning up after the mowing. When unloading the bag, when full, it spills out at least 1/4 of the bag onto the ground and causes another cleanup mess. I have tried all height setting and tried mowing with the bag and without with no change in the performance. I had none of these issues with a Craftsman and the mower was almost the same price today. I just couldn't get to a Sears to buy it. I will return it or try and resell the mower and take a hit on the cost.
