Easy assembly out of the box, quick start and very good height adjustments (comes close to 3 1/4 height). Quite and smooth operating and love the built in mulch item.

Bought simalar model a copuple of years ago same price $239 but that mower had a Briggs ans Stratton motor...still runs and starts like new. I figured I would buy the same great model for my mothers house...BIG MISTAKE as now they are fitted with the Koehler motors to save money! Do yourself a favor and SKIP this mower and go for one with a briggs motor you will be way ahead. When it was new I had no complaints but as time went on you can plainly tell the motor doesn't have the same power and takes 4 to 5 pulls everytime to start. Gets real old, plenty of comparable mowers with a Briggs and Stratton engine please don't make the same mistake I did STAY AWAY FROM KOEHLER JUNK!!!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Melken88 Solidly built mower at a very good price
The mower comes in a box with clear instructions on how to unpack and set up, a process that takes maybe 3 minutes. Put the provided oil in, add fresh gas, pull the throttle control bar back, and pull the starter rope, and you're ready to mow.
The mower itself does a good job at cutting / mulching grass (so far, the season is early, but I've used 3 times so far). My only complaint is that it is a little heavy feeling when going along curved or circular areas, but certainly not unmanageable.
Overall, a very good mower with plenty of power to cut the grass.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bryan Worst lawn mower I have ever owned
I bought this lawn mower before last summer. It ran ok for the whole summer. This summer I could not get it turn over. I drained the gas, changed the oil, change the air filter, and changed the spark plug and nothing would help. I called support, but it took over 6 weeks to get my mower back. It ran okay for 3 weeks. Now it will not start again. My previous mower lasted 12 years. Do yourself a favor, and do not buy this mower. If you do, you will be writing a similar review one year from now.

Lawn Boy goes back to the basics of lawn mowing that made them famous with this new Kohler powered 21 inch push mower. No fancy bells and whistles, just a big engine, a big blade and a steel deck. It's all you really need.
You want the lawn cut, you want it cut well and you don't want to break the bank doing it. This is your mower. This is the kind of push mower most of us prefer. Basic features, fast adjustments on the fly and a no fuss engine that starts every single time without fail.
Rolling on extra large wheels which smooth out the roughest of lawns, topped with the super easy to run and maintain Kohler 6.5 engine and spinning a 21 inch blade means you can tackle even the gnarliest of turf and come out the winner.
ASSEMBLY: Out of the box the mower has everything you need to run aside from fuel. Take it out of it's box, flip up and attach the handle with two bolts and you're just about ready to mow. Fill the crankcase with the included 20oz bottle of 30wt oil, fill up the fuel tank with regular gas and you're set to make your lawn look like a ball park.
It's your choice to attach the included grass bag if you want, or leave it as a mulcher out of the box. An optional side discharge chute is available at no charge and can be requested when you register your warranty online.
USE: It's so simple to start this Kohler engine. Fill with fuel through the extra large gas nozzle, hold the safety handle down and give the recoil handle a swift pull. VROOOM, it's off and running. That's it. No choke, no priming, just pull and mow. It doesn't get any easier than that.
MOWING: A 21 inch mulching blade lets you can cover ground quickly while thoroughly mulching any type of grass. It has special grooves in the back of the blade that are supposed to make the mulching process better. The blade face is a normal blade type and can be sharpened at home or by any shop.
The torquey Kohler engine means you can hit the thick stuff and not bog down, even if the grass is a little bit wet. Height adjustments are quick with the two handle height adjustment system on this mower deck (my favorite feature). Every wheel can be raised or lowered fast by using just two handles. They lock into place with a confident click. This is far nicer than using four separate levers as usual.
QUALITY: Build quality is excellent. A well painted steel deck with plastic bagging flap, an all steel handle and large 8 inch front, 11 inch rear plastic wheels. The bag has a steel frame and a strong nylon bag. It attaches and detaches in seconds. There isn't much that can go wrong with this mower. It's simplicity makes it worry free.
MAINTENANCE: Taking care of your mower ensures it lasts for many years. The oil filler/dipstick, large sized gas tank cap and snap on air filter cover are all easily accessible and allow for maintenance without having to take half the machine apart to do it. Even the air filter cover pops off by hand, without having to get the screwdriver out.
WARRANTY: Lawn Boy stands behind this mower with a two year warranty on the mower deck and components and a three year warranty on the engine. Included is the Lawn Boy Tru Start Commitment. If the mower doesn't start in 2 pulls, Lawn-Boy will fix it free. Outstanding.
In closing, I was going to do a pros and cons list on this mower, but honestly, I can't find any cons. It's a very simple mower and you'll love it for that. It starts every time, it cuts very well and it is a breeze to maintain. What more can you ask?
Powerful, simple to run, easy to maintain. Exactly what a Lawn Boy should be.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by George cheap, plastic, flimsy air filter cover falls off (often) while mowing
Hi, I'm George who wrote a 5 star-review of this mower, April 6, 2014. After a full season of mowing, there is one huge CAUTION to share with prospective buyers of this Lawnboy: the AIR FILTER cover--it FALLS OFF while mowing UNLESS a person secures it to the housing with a short 6" bungee type cord. The "thumb latch" is a CHEAP piece of flimsy, plastic. I have found everything else about this mower to be first rate. In my usage, the mower has always started with one, easy-going pull of the rope. I have experienced no problems mentioned by other reviews on Home Depot.
If LAWNBOY reads these reviews, "Come on guys, step up to the plate and re-design the air filter housing and access."

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chris2014 Great purchase
My old mower probably could have been saved with some repairs, but it was 10 years old and I thought I got my money's worth. I researched several mowers on line and decided on this model. So far I have used it 3 times. The first was when my lawn was very long and several areas of broad-leaf grasses, usually very difficult. This mower, set on a higher cut level, went through my chore in no time. I was so surprised. My daughter saw how easy it was and insisted on finishing for me! The price was right and the service and advice on winterizing, etc that I got from the salesman was super.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ToolTimeTony Maneverable mower with easy start
Mower arrived via freight in a compact cardboard box. Assembly was very easy, two bolts with screw adjustors to attach the handle, feed the pull rope through an eyelet, add oil (included) and gas, and its ready to go. Optional bagger comes assembled and attaches easily to the rear of the mower by lifting the rear deck cover, inserting bag frame into the slot, and locking with the deck door cover. No tools needed, and unattached just as quick. After adding oil and gas, mower started on the first pull out of the box, and on additional attempts, always started on the first pull. Mower has high rear wheels which eases maneuverability. Handle folds for storage, compact unit overall. Fairly light mower and easy to push, this unit is not self propelled. No adjustment is available for engine speed. Only control is the kill bar that must be held down on the handle to start and run the mower. Wheels adjust easily by moving one lever for each set of wheels, has multiple positions available. Engine has plenty of power and it cuts grass and even light brush well. Only improvement I would like to see is padding on the handle to add comfortable grip. Nice looking unit
