I had a rear wheel drive lawn boy before and I loved it, it was light and easy to handle and the rear wheel drive was awesome. So when it died I thought I could just by a new lawn boy. Problem is that Lawn boy thought it would be convenient to put a single leaver adjustment for the each pair of wheels. Front adjustment is fine but the rear wheels are connected by a bar that extends below the deck of the lawnmower. This bar might as well as be a plow because it sticks into the grass and inhibits the mower from moving forward.

Purchased approximately 27-8 months ago, so just out of warranty. As others mention, rear adjustment pegs falling off, had to hard-bolt the lever. Two days ago, lever sheared in the middle, so mower dropped right to the ground. Had to finish lawn holding rear end up myself. (This did not go well of course)
Self propel has been weak from day one and requires that you provide at least 50% of the forward thrust yourself.
I take good care of equipment like this, so it's well-maintained. Just not the LawnBoy quality I remember.
Part on order for rear height adjustment, I pay for it of course since out of warranty. Gonna limp this mower through the rest of the season and it's outta here. Disposable basically.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JC Worst lawn mower purchase ever.
The first time I used this new Lawn Boy the two front wheels fell off twice within 45 minutes. The front axle snaps into a plastic clip and it did not take much of a bump to dislodge the wheels from the mower. This part of the mower was very cheaply made. Certainly not the Lawn Boy quality from past years. The rear wheel drive feature did not seem to work well either and the mower would high center often on uneven ground. Definitely, not what I expected from Lawn Boy.

if you dont mind taking apart the carb and cleaning it every so often it works fantastic. Had this thing for 2 years and so far have had to clean it out 3 times. Wish it wasnt out of warranty id return it. never again with Lawnboy.

The grass clogs up very easily and stalls the mower. It will stop all of a sudded and takes sometime to restart. There should be an option of shooting the grass on the side if you dont want to use that bag.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob DO NOT BUY
The wheel adjustment on all wheels are metal studs inserted into plastic. The metal studs fall out very quickly as the plastic gives way and then you have no adjustment, only the lowest setting. Buy a mower that has all metal for the height adjustment. In addition, the self-propelled option also quit about the same time. This product is clearly designed to break down quickly.

Could not change blade because you need torque wrench.
To change the oil you have to empty through dip stick opening.
Could not change the spark plug.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PoorMower Worst Mower. Not the Lawnboy of Yesteryear
I wanted a quality lightweight mulching mower. Having used Lawnboy mowers in the past I thought this mower would be great - major mistake! The rear wheel adjustment pegs began bending and then breaking off within 2 months. The rear wheel drive - as mentioned by other reviewers - slipd ( left wheel currently doesn't engage making the mower want to pull right with the little assistance it gives. OR the wheels dont disengage if you want to push it even when mowere is off!! If not for these issues the mower would be great LOL! It does mulch good. DO NOT BUY! Dont let the name fiool you - This is not the same quality as your father's lawnboy.
