Answer:
Hello Skigs. Yes, the branches from your hedges will be easily chipped. Please make sure the material you are shredding is dead before you place it into the shredder. They green material will clog the machine. Thanks for your question!

Answer:
Hello Jc, for the minimum gauge for extension cords, we recommend an Amp rating between 0-16. The length of the cord can range from 25'-150'. However, we do not recommend using an extension cord that is over 100' while having an Amp rating between 12-16. For the full minimum gauge for extension cords, please refer to our manual: http://lawnmaster.com/operators-manuals/. Thanks for your question!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product for what I used it for I purchased this item to decrease the amount of yard debris mostly blackberry vines and small sticks in my yard. It is rated for up to a 3 inch diameter limb but I found it struggled with anything over 2 inches. It would eventually get the limb shredded, it just took patience. Since I wasn't interested in actual chips for mulch, I don't really care that if the sticks or vines get put in sideways instead of straight, the machine spits out long curls of debris instead of fine chips. I will say that with the blackberry vines cut the week before shredding were pretty dry. They went through the shredder like melted butter!! I turned about 5 truck loads of stickers and blackberry vines into 4 large outdoor garbage cans of shredded/chipped easy to handle and dispose of chunks. Worth every penny and more. I do feel that it is a little cheaply made but that's what makes it light weight and easy to maneuver around on uneven ground. If I had bought this product simply for limbs or for making my own wood chips, I would be disappointed. If thats what you are looking for, spend the bigger bucks to get gas powered. But, if you're like me and just want to destroy giant blackberry vines, it's worth the price. August 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It is a toy It is a bit tempermental and VERY NOISY! You can only put in very narrow pieces of wood... A good paper shredder would have been a better buy... June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chips, Doesn't mulch I have tried two chippers at this price point. This one chips big pieces better than the other but can't chip things with a small diameter. Small branches often shred long ways, so looks bad and it can't be used as mulch. Many twigs pass right through. This one is pretty quiet though, so not a bad option if you just want to condense a pile. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product &easy to use. I was very pleased with my recent purchse of the 15 AMP electric chipper shredder. My reason for this puchase was due to Pierce County's burn band rules and regulation. As you will see in the following pictures, I had a hugh amount of cut branches and bushes to dispose of and this chipper did a fantastic job to reduce this to a small pile of mulch. The machine was easy to operate, with easy instructions to follow. The performace was beyond my expectations, cutting all branches and shredding all leaves in minimum time. I would recommend this product to anyone. April 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good light duty yard shredder with a drawback The unit is lightweight, compact and easy to maneuver. It is easy to use and safe if you exercise common sense. The safety is part of the design. If something clogs the shredder blade (a very rare event), unclogging is very easy. With the maximum diameter pieces, the shredder slices thinly so it looks like pepperoni and there is more load sound from the motor. But it always handles the recommended diameters. The exception is small twigs. They pass right through unshredded and block the exit chute, which is a disappointment. And the feeder opening is small which limits how much can be done at one time. There is a very handy pusher to use when feeding. The shredder handles dried leaves and small branches very nicely and produces a finely shredded product which is great for composting. You will need a pretty expensive extension cord. July 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't work for the type bushes I wanted to chip We got this chipper to mulch bitterbrush twigs and pine needles. The twigs would not feed into the hopper and the ones we could get stuffed in came through with out being reduced to mulch. The pine needles would not feed into the hopper without great difficulty and the ones that did go through were not chopped up at all. We tried it on some small woody limbs and it did an excellent job on those. Unfortunately, it did not work on the shrubs and pine needles we got it for. October 30, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by meh! reminds me of a tonka toy, it work but only on small dry branches anything with moisture still in it it just all clogs up and you ave to keep taking it apart to unclog it,, definitely did not help me get rig of branches it was much easier and fast to cut the small enough to put in bags June 4, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wouldn't advise a purchase Product does an OK job on branches that are over an inch in diameter but, does a lousy job on anything smaller and leaves, forget it, they come out the same way they go in. I'm not at all happy with it's performance. June 3, 2014
